Kael's POV
The elevator hummed softly as it climbed toward the management floor. Maya stood with her arms crossed, tapping her foot impatiently. The moment the doors slid open, we stepped out into a polished hallway lined with desks, the sound of keyboards been typed on filling the air.
"Excuse me," Maya said as we approached one of the corporate workers. "We're looking for the MD's office."
Without lifting his eyes from his computer screen, the man simply pointed in a direction.
"That must be it," Maya muttered, leading the way.
We walked down the hall until we reached a door marked in bold silver letters:
Managing Director.
Maya knocked.
"Come in," a voice called.
We stepped into a smaller office — clearly the secretary's workspace — with another door inside, also labeled Managing Director. The woman behind the desk glanced up from her screen.
"Hi, how can I help you?" she asked.
