After Porunga's answer, Bardock reluctantly accepted it.
He knew Porunga understood what he meant, but finding the Super Dragon Balls through a star map loophole was another story.
"By the way," Porunga's deep voice echoed, "I can mark some well-known planets on this star map. Do you need that?"
Bardock's eyes lit up. "Oh? You can do that? Then tell me—does Planet Yardrat already exist in this timeline? And the planet of the Zoon-seijin… yes! Planet Zuno should exist too."
Porunga didn't see a problem with these requests. With a wave of power, he locked onto the locations.
In an instant, Bardock felt a strange force pour into him. It rushed deep into his mind, carving the knowledge into his very soul. If not for his powerful will and strength, such energy might've crushed a weaker mind.
But since it was a wish, Porunga made sure nothing would go wrong.
"The first wish is done," Porunga boomed. "What is your second?"
Bardock folded his arms, his expression shifting. "This one's tricky. You've seen my strength, right? I want the ability to see battle power without a scouter. Just by looking at someone, I want to know their true combat power."
Porunga thought for a moment. "That's simple. But remember—this ability has limits. You will only see power within your own dimension. Higher-dimensional beings will be unreadable. Still want it?"
Bardock smirked. "That's fine. As long as I can see normal power levels, that's enough."
Porunga's eyes glowed red. Power surged, etching the ability into Bardock's soul.
Bardock clenched his fist, feeling the new sense awaken. "So it's locked only to me… I can't teach this to others. That's fine."
"Your second wish is complete," Porunga rumbled. "Now, what about your third?"
Bardock shook his head. "I don't need a third wish. I can handle most things myself. But I do have a question."
Porunga waited.
"If I got hold of a Supreme Kai's Time Ring… could I travel back and forth through time? Or could a Supreme Kai themselves help me do it?"
Porunga hesitated. "That… even I don't know. Supreme Kais are true gods, creators of planets and life. The Time Ring is their tool, linked to the flow of time itself. But whether it could send you across millions of years… no one knows."
Bardock's eyes narrowed. "So I'll have to find out myself… by meeting the Supreme Kai of this timeline."
He nodded to himself. "Alright. My wishes are done. The last one belongs to the Grand Elder."
With that, Bardock's spirit faded from Porunga's realm. The dragon let out a heavy sigh of relief as the pressure lifted.
…
Outside, only a few seconds had passed. No one but Bardock and Porunga knew what had really happened.
"My wishes are done," Bardock announced. "The last one is for the Grand Elder. As promised."
He turned to the Great Elder of Namek. "Elder, I'll remember this favor. If Namek is ever in danger, use your mind to call me. I'll save this planet—twice if I have to. In return, I may need the Dragon Balls again someday."
Before the Elder could respond, Bardock raised his hand. A wave of energy flowed into Murat's body, strengthening him.
The Elder gasped but quickly bowed his head. "Thank you. You are forever a friend of the Namekians!"
Bardock smiled faintly. His eyes drifted to Slug's younger self, Slaton, standing nearby.
"You're not a bad person. You just crave strength, no matter the cost. One day, we'll meet again, stronger than now."
He leaned in slightly. "A warning for you—Saiyans can become Super Saiyans. That power… you may have something like it inside you too. If you learn to release it—"
He cut himself off, vanishing in a flash of Instant Transmission.
Slaton froze, shouting desperately into the empty air: "Wait! Say it clearly!"
But Bardock was already gone.
Another Galaxy…
This is the Ballet Galaxy system.
And here—Planet Sadala, home of the Saiyans!
It's been two full days since Bardock left.
Well, not exactly. Time flows differently depending on the planet.
Suddenly, Bardock's figure appeared a thousand meters above the Saiyan capital.
He had returned from across light-years in an instant.
Instant Transmission—back to Planet Sadala.
Before he had the star map, it took real focus and effort to sense such long distances.
But now, with the map, all he had to do was lock on to a location and move instantly.
Of course, Instant Transmission still needed plenty of energy and control.
Truthfully, Bardock didn't plan to come back so soon.
He only wanted to test the map's effect—so he chose to jump home quickly.
As for Namek… it wasn't useful right now. Even with the Dragon Balls, a wish could only be made once a year. And on Namek, a year was only 130 days.
Bardock thought back to what Porunga said.
"This star map gave me some memories… If I remember right, Namek was supposed to be the fourth planet in the 27th galaxy of the Vega system, about 25 light-years from Earth…"
"If that's the case… then maybe Earth is in the same galaxy, or at least a nearby one…"
He shook his head. "No… that can't be Earth."
Still, the blue planet lingered in his thoughts. Maybe the flow of the universe itself had shifted. After all, every star, every planet was always moving. Slowly… invisibly.
But across millions of years, the changes were huge. That's why Porunga said the star map was only accurate for now. Sooner or later, it would be outdated.
Bardock smacked his forehead.
"Tch. I was too focused on time travel. I should've asked more questions back then."
Like that gigantic space beast he fought earlier—the one the size of a planet. That thing never appeared in the original history, and its power was way above Slug's level.
If Bardock's strength hadn't already broken into something like the eighth dimension, he would've been eaten alive.
And the crystal he got from that beast? He still had no idea what it was.
"Too bad… Next time, I'll call Porunga again and ask."
He was about to descend when—suddenly—his mind was struck.
A mental voice forced its way in. Bardock's eyes narrowed, ready to blast back.
But then the voice spoke:
[Forgive me for intruding, King Bardock of the Saiyans.]
Bardock froze mid-air.
[You must be surprised. Don't panic. I'll explain. My name is King Kai. The entire North Galaxy is under my care. I came to you today because I need your help.]
"King Kai…?" Bardock muttered. For a moment, he thought he was dreaming.
He had long searched for people like this—for the underworld, for the Kais, for some proof of higher gods.
But every attempt had ended in failure.
And now, because of the Dragon Balls… the main story itself seemed to have "woken up."
Bardock smirked. "So it's you. I know about King Kai. Wait… was it you who told the Namekian Elder to suddenly trust me with the Dragon Balls?"
[Yes, Bardock.] King Kai admitted without hesitation.
Bardock's voice hardened. "Then don't you think it's sloppy and absurd to barge into my head like this, asking for help?!"
He stood tall, his aura flaring as he locked onto King Kai's presence with his own mind.
If he could pin him down now, it would open a path for later.
[You're right. This was uninvited, even reckless. But if I didn't reach out, you would remain in the dark. And sooner or later… what's coming will involve your entire Saiyan race. No one can escape it.]
[A disaster is spreading across the universe. Even the gods can't solve it. That's why I need your strength.]
Bardock crossed his arms, a small grin tugging at his mouth. "So that's how it is. But tell me—why me? There are plenty of strong fighters out there. Are you trying to trick me?"
His eyes narrowed, releasing a threatening wave of power.
[I understand your doubt. But the truth is, in this North Galaxy, only two warriors stand at the top—you and Slug. Slug already failed. But you… you defeated him. That's why I believe you can do this.]
That caught Bardock's attention.
"So… even Slug was involved. No wonder he wanted the Dragon Balls so badly."
His mind clicked the pieces together. Slug wasn't just chasing revenge—he was chasing power to fight this bigger threat.
Bardock smirked wider. "Enough talking like this. If you really want my help, let's meet face-to-face."
He focused his mind, his aura blazing as he locked onto King Kai's energy.
King Kai panicked. [Wait—! That's impossible. We're in different dimensions. You can't—]
Bardock just grinned. "If you won't come to me… then I'll come to you."
With a sharp flash, he vanished using Instant Transmission.
Whoosh!
He was gone.
On his tiny planet, King Kai stood frozen, his face full of question marks.
"…What just happened…?!?!"
