Scene Change – Hell
At the end of Snake Way, above the afterlife, floats King Kai's planet.
When Bardock suddenly disappeared, King Kai felt a chill. The mental link he had placed on Bardock was completely gone.
That could only mean one thing… Bardock was far beyond him. If Bardock wanted, he could kill him in an instant.
King Kai gulped. What a terrifying guy… If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe someone this strong existed in my North Galaxy…
He prayed Bardock wasn't some evil monster.
Even so, Bardock had lived a fairly normal life these past decades, which gave King Kai a bit of relief.
Just as he turned around, Bardock suddenly appeared right in front of him!
King Kai almost tripped over himself and fell on his face.
"You… y-you… HOW?! You came to the Other World while still alive… and landed right on my planet?!"
He was completely shaken.
Bardock didn't care. To him it was nothing. But to King Kai, this was insane. Only the dead could normally enter this place.
Even Goku shocked him back in the day when he came alive. But Bardock's Instant Transmission completely broke the rules, letting him cross between the world of the living and the dead like it was nothing.
"You Kais sure live well. A whole planet, just for yourselves. Must be nice," Bardock smirked.
Long ago, he had sensed this place. He knew nearly a thousand strong auras lived here too—warriors who trained under King Kai after dying heroic deaths.
He took a deep breath. Ten times normal gravity meant nothing to him. The air was fresh and pure, even better than Planet Vegeta's ever was.
"This planet's not bad," Bardock said casually.
King Kai was still pale. "H-how did you do it?! No mortal has ever broken into the Other World on their own! You're the first… ever!"
"What others can't do doesn't mean I can't," Bardock replied flatly. "I just locked onto your ki through your own mental link and used Instant Transmission. Simple."
King Kai wiped sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief. "I should've guessed… Instant Transmission… Of course! That explains how you travel between stars so easily! Your power is way beyond what I expected… But that's actually good news for us."
Bardock folded his arms. His eyes sharpened. "Enough small talk. Tell me straight. Why'd you contact me? You mentioned Sladon. He's one of the strongest in the galaxy, yet even he wasn't enough. Who's this enemy that makes you so scared?"
Yes… scared. That was the word.
King Kai had only reached out because he was desperate. First Sladon had failed, and now his only hope was Bardock.
"Before, I wasn't sure how I'd even explain the truth to you," King Kai said. "But now that you're here, I'll tell you everything. The enemy we face… is a demon."
That word immediately lit sparks in Bardock's mind.
Demons… huh? As someone who knew Dragon Ball's future, Bardock knew about them. The most famous was Majin Buu—the ultimate monster of the Z-era. Then there were others, like Moro, who drained planets dry, and Hildegarn, the phantom beast.
Which one was King Kai talking about?
Moro's power was frightening enough to destroy whole worlds. Majin Buu was insane, too, but according to Bardock's knowledge, Buu only appeared around five million years ago… Wait. Five million years ago… That's now! Could it really be Majin Buu?
King Kai rambled on about the origins of demons, but Bardock quickly got annoyed.
"You're saying a lot of nothing, old man. To keep it simple—there's a monster out there even the gods can't deal with, and you want me to take care of it. Is that right? You really think I'll just jump in and help?"
Bardock narrowed his eyes. "Helping you isn't free. If you want my strength, there better be something in it for me."
Time kept passing.
Bardock stared at the Supreme Kai of the East, who hadn't moved a muscle. The silence dragged on, heavy and awkward.
"…So, have you decided yet, Bardock?" Supreme Kai finally asked.
Some questions can wait. But others—like this one—couldn't. Every day they wasted meant more planets falling to the demons.
Bardock's eyes narrowed. His serious look faded into something sharper.
"Fine. I'll help you fight this so-called demon," he said. "But remember your promise. When it's over, no matter the outcome, you Supreme Kais have to grant me three requests. Don't think you can trick me. I'm not that easy."
He crossed his arms. "And don't worry. I won't make you do anything that goes against your duties. But I will collect on it."
Supreme Kai Shin's face lit up with relief. "Of course! As a Supreme Kai, I would never break my word. Then it's settled—our deal is complete."
He had done it—he'd recruited another powerful warrior. If they survived the crisis, he'd just have to honor Bardock's terms, no matter how demanding they were.
Bardock gave a short nod. "Good. Now tell me—who's this demon? And what exactly do you want me to do?"
"Before that," Shin said, "please come with me to the Supreme Kai's World. Once we're there, I'll explain everything."
"The Supreme Kai's World, huh?" Bardock muttered. It wasn't what he expected. Still, his curiosity got the better of him. "Alright. Might as well see it for myself."
"Then place your hand on me."
Bardock obeyed, ready to compare Shin's teleportation with his own sense of energy. The two blurred and vanished from King Kai's planet.
The instant they left, King Kai collapsed onto the ground, his legs trembling.
"Whew!!" he exhaled. The crushing pressure on him had finally lifted. With Bardock and Shin gone, he could finally breathe.
He straightened up again, putting his hands behind his back with a fake "wise master" pose.
"Let's hope this crisis gets resolved…" he muttered, trying to look dignified. To anyone watching, he'd seem calm and mighty. But deep down? He was just glad the troublemakers were gone.
Elsewhere…
Bardock and Shin arrived in a higher dimension—the Sacred World of the Kai. The holy land of the universe.
"So this is the Supreme Kai's World?" Bardock muttered. The moment he breathed in the air, he could tell how different it was. Pure. Overflowing with divine energy. Compared to this, King Kai's little planet felt like a backyard.
Here, everything felt fresh and alive. Training in this place would make anyone stronger dozens of times faster than in the mortal realm. Truly a paradise.
Then something caught Bardock's eye. Not far away, a white light shone brilliantly, radiating divine power. His Saiyan instincts picked it up immediately.
"…That's the energy of a god," he thought, eyes narrowing.
"Welcome, Bardock," Shin said, breaking his focus. "You are the first mortal ever to step foot here."
"Heh. Then I should be honored," Bardock replied, turning back to him. "Now quit stalling. Tell me about this demon."
Shin nodded, his face grave. "Very well. I won't hide it. Not long ago, an evil sorcerer named Babidi created a monster with terrifying power—Majin Buu. Since his birth, he has destroyed countless planets."
Bardock's eyes narrowed. "…Majin Buu."
Shin continued. "His strength is far beyond our control. He even began targeting us, the Supreme Kais. The West Supreme Kai was the first to face him—she barely survived. The North Supreme Kai… was killed. The South Supreme Kai, the strongest among us, fought him evenly… but in the end, he was absorbed."
Bardock clenched his fists. So it really was Majin Buu. But something didn't sit right. In his memory, Buu wasn't supposed to be this overwhelming. Not unless…
"Unless the more he absorbed, the Weaker he actually became…" Bardock thought, recalling the fat, childish Buu from the original timeline.
