Majin Buu was frozen in fear.
His whole body trembled, cold sweat dripping down his face. For the first time since his birth, he didn't know what to do.
Bardock's sharp eyes locked onto him.
"Alright… this ends now! Majin Buu, you really are a tough opponent. But the gap between us is too big. If I'd fought you decades ago, maybe you could've pushed me… maybe even surprised me. But now…"
Bardock's voice carried no anger, only pity—just like Goku once felt.
He sighed. If only we'd met sooner… back then, it would've been a true fight.
But now he had already grown too strong. Living on a level above the rest, Bardock felt only the loneliness that came with power.
That's why he let Sladun live—so at least one warrior might grow to be a worthy rival.
But Majin Buu? He was different. Evil, mindless destruction. Even if he kept evolving, his ceiling was already set. He'd never reach further.
Bardock raised his hand. Energy gathered instantly, sparking with destructive force. Majin Buu's eyes widened—he could smell death itself.
He tried to run, but Bardock's ki locked him in place. The invisible pressure pinned him down like chains. No matter how much he thrashed, he couldn't move an inch.
"Y-you…!" Buu's voice cracked with desperation. But it was useless.
The golden sphere of energy in Bardock's palm grew bigger and brighter until it swallowed Buu whole.
BOOOOMMMMM!!!
The explosion lit up the void of space, golden waves spreading across the stars. For twenty long seconds, Bardock poured his full power into the blast, making sure not a single cell remained.
Finally, the light faded. Silence returned.
Buu was gone. Not even a trace of ki left.
Bardock extended his senses, waiting. He heals too easily… better make sure.
One minute passed. Nothing. Not a single cell survived.
Bardock lowered his arm. It's over. Majin Buu… is really gone.
He smirked faintly. "Guess the story changes here. Since I'm here now… I'll rewrite this future myself."
But his eyes narrowed. There was still someone else out there.
"Majin Buu's finished! How long are you gonna keep hiding? Show yourself already!"
The Kais watching were stunned. Bardock had sensed a third presence all along.
"Haha~! So you noticed me after all!" A deep, goofy laugh echoed. A large, round man appeared before Bardock, smiling.
Bardock's gaze sharpened. Even the Kais watching gasped.
It was none other than the Grand Supreme Kai himself—the highest god of the universe.
"If I'm not mistaken… you're the Supreme Kai, aren't you?" Bardock said bluntly.
There was no need for games. Bardock's strength spoke for itself—no one here could force answers out of him.
The Kai chuckled warmly. "Yes. I am the Supreme Kai. You destroyed Majin Buu, and now the universe is safe again. On behalf of all life, I thank you, Bardock."
Bardock stayed quiet, just watching him.
"And not only that," the Kai added, "you saved me a great deal of trouble."
"Hm?" Bardock frowned, then glanced at the cocoon he was still holding—the one with South Kai trapped inside.
"Oh… right. This guy."
He tossed the cocoon casually toward the Grand Kai.
The Kai caught it and quickly used his divine power to free South Kai from the prison. "Originally, I planned to face Buu myself and rescue him. But truth be told… I might not have been able to defeat Buu on my own. You've done me a great service, Bardock."
Bardock smirked. "Call it what you want. I just did what I had to do. But if you're really Supreme Kai, then I'll need something from you in return."
The Kai smiled knowingly. "I see… You're after the Time Ring, aren't you?"
Bardock didn't answer, only gave him a sharp look.
"Well then," the Kai said, "it's not convenient to speak here. Why don't you come with me… to the Supreme Kai's world?"
Without hesitation, Bardock released his Super Saiyan aura and powered down, calm and confident.
"Fine. Lead the way."
The two warriors disappeared from the battlefield in an instant, heading toward the world of the gods.
Things seemed to be going smoothly.
But no one expected—even Bardock himself—that Majin Buu wasn't really finished.
Right after Bardock left, a tiny cell less than a millimeter in size twitched on a piece of floating rock. It wriggled, expanded, and soon became a pink meatball about ten centimeters wide.
Once it swelled enough, it shot away into the depths of space, not daring to stay behind.
Meanwhile, in the Sacred World of the Kai.
Bardock returned with the Grand Supreme Kai, carrying the South Kai with him.
Their return brought East Supreme Kai (Shin) and West Kai (Leila), who had been watching from afar.
"Majin Buu was finally taken care of. Thanks to you, Bardock," Shin said. His tone still had a touch of arrogance—like he was taking some credit since he brought Bardock there in the first place.
Bardock crossed his arms. "Don't forget the deal we made. I held up my end. Now it's your turn."
Sweat rolled down Shin's face as Bardock's aura pressured him. "O-of course, I won't forget. As long as it's within my power…"
Before he could finish, the Grand Supreme Kai cut him off.
"Leave the deal to me. For now, Shin, Leila—take care of the South Kai until he wakes up."
Shin quickly agreed and carried the unconscious South Kai away. Leila gave Bardock a sharp, curious look but followed orders.
Now only Bardock and the Grand Supreme Kai remained.
The Kai's expression grew serious as he studied Bardock. Normally, a Supreme Kai could see into someone's past and future with ease. But Bardock was… different. His origin couldn't be traced.
Bardock broke the silence. "So, what do you really want to talk about?"
The Grand Kai nodded. "Since your fight with Majin Buu, I've noticed it. A terrifying power lies in you. I can't even see through it… Tell me, what exactly are you?"
Bardock's eyes narrowed. "You're not asking who I am. You're asking why I don't seem to be a Saiyan of this universe… right?"
The Kai froze. Bardock had hit the nail on the head.
"To be exact," the Grand Supreme Kai said slowly, "you are a Saiyan of this world… but not of this era."
Bardock smirked, impressed. "So you really saw through me, huh? Guess you deserve your title as Supreme Kai. You're right—I don't belong to this time. I come from the future. To be exact… five million years ahead."
The Kai's eyes widened in shock. "Five… million years?! Impossible…"
Yet Bardock's aura carried no lie.
The Kai now understood: Bardock wasn't just strong. He was from a future so far away that even time itself resisted his existence.
"So, now that you know… what will you do?" Bardock asked with a grin. "Will you try to erase me? Or let me stay?"
The Grand Kai hesitated. Bardock had just destroyed Majin Buu and saved the South Kai. Punishing him made no sense. Still, time-travel itself was a grave offense in the eyes of the gods.
Finally, he spoke. "You've lived in this universe long enough… You could remain here. Or… I could try sending you back to your own time."
Bardock's eyes widened. "You mean… you have a way?"
The Kai nodded. "We Supreme Kai guard a sacred object that can travel through time. The Time Ring. But only a Supreme Kai can use it."
Bardock frowned. "So… unless I become a Supreme Kai, I can't use it?"
The Kai confirmed. "That's right. Even then, the Time Ring has limits. It can't keep you in the future forever—you'd eventually be pulled back here. And with your timeline being five million years ahead, reaching it at all may be impossible."
Bardock's smirk faded. The only hope he had of returning to his era… was nearly out of reach.
Bardock & The Supreme Kai Sword
Disappointment hit Bardock hard when he realized the Time Ring was useless. For a moment, he gave up on the idea of returning to his own time.
But just as he felt that despair, the Grand Supreme Kai spoke again:
"With my current power, I can't send you back five million years into the future. But… someone else might be able to. There is one who could help you."
The Kai's eyes shifted toward the center of his world.
Bardock followed his gaze. His eyes landed on the tall stone pillar where a shining blade was embedded. He'd noticed it earlier but ignored it.
Bardock narrowed his eyes.
"That's… the Z Sword, isn't it?"
The Grand Supreme Kai looked shocked.
"You… know about the Z Sword? How could a mortal from another time know that legend?"
Bardock crossed his arms with a smirk.
"I've never seen it before, but I know the stories. They say whoever pulls it out gains the greatest power in the universe."
The Grand Supreme Kai chuckled awkwardly.
"Heh… not exactly. That legend is… exaggerated. The sword isn't some weapon of ultimate power. It's a seal."
Bardock's eyes sharpened. He already knew, but he played along.
"A seal, huh? Then you've got someone trapped inside. And you want me to set him free."
The Grand Supreme Kai finally nodded.
"You're sharp. Yes… an ancient Kai is sealed within. He may know a way to help you return to your own era."
Bardock stayed quiet for a moment. In the back of his mind, thoughts raced.
(If that's the Old Kai sealed in there, then maybe he can unlock my potential… Just like what happened with Gohan in the original timeline. If that happens, how strong could I really become?!)
With a grin, Bardock leapt up toward the stone pillar without hesitation.
The Grand Supreme Kai blinked, stunned at his boldness.
"Wait—! You're not even going to ask why I can't do it myself…? Hmph. He doesn't care… he's too confident in his own power."
The Kai lowered his head and muttered:
"I just hope releasing him doesn't anger Lord Beerus. Ancestor… after all this time, we may finally meet again."
At the top of the pillar, Bardock stood before the Z Sword. It glowed faintly with holy energy—not true light, but a pressure he could sense with his ki.
He placed his hand on the hilt, his eyes narrowing.
"Yeah… this isn't a normal blade. This seal's powered by divine energy. Strong… and dangerous."
He gave the sword a light tug. It didn't budge. Not even a little.
Bardock smirked.
"Heh. Just like the legend says… heavy as hell. But that won't stop me."
He clenched the hilt again, this time channeling his ki. The ground shook. The entire Kai World trembled under the force.
A thunderous boom exploded across the skies.
The battle to free the Z Sword had begun.
