Chapter 5 - Childhood Trauma

It was 10 p.m., and Jack was on his way home with his parents in the carriage.

"No way, Mom haha, Dad would never have the courage to do that."

"He actually did it, I'm not lying, hahaha."

"Oh, my love, how many times have I asked you to stop telling Jack my embarrassing stories from when I was a teenager?"

"Oh, but they're so funny! We can't go out to dinner without laughing at something, hahaha."

"Okay, okay, but let's stop. I'm driving the carriage and don't want us to get into trouble. Jack, take care of your mother; she's tired and drunk."

"Yes Dad!"

It was a normal family, like any other, but it didn't need to be more than that for Jack to be happy.

Suddenly, small raindrops began to fall, gradually intensifying.

"Oh! It looks like it's going to rain hold on tight, I'll speed up, we're almost home."

And then, as the rain grew heavier and heavier, a strong wind and thunder began to appear, forming a massive storm. The carriage's horse, frightened, panicked, causing Jack's father to lose control and overturn the carriage.

"In the end, I was the only one who survived. Since then, I've lived alone, struggling to survive, and fortunately, in this miserable life, I managed to become a detective. My past haunts me, and thinking back, the rain has always been by my side always in the worst possible way."

"I don't know why I remembered the past right now, but I can't stop thinking that it wasn't just an accident maybe my family was the victim of a murder."

"Of course, it was a storm like any other, but I think I should start not judging a book by its cover."
