Chapter 6 - Interrogation of suspects

It was nearly noon, and Jack was heading to the meeting point he had arranged with his chief.

"I hope I can get permission to interrogate. Most detectives always have their requests denied, since the superiors forbid it. Only the most prestigious detectives are granted that privilege."

Passing through the garden that surrounded the area, Jack finally saw him sitting on a bench.

"Oh Jack, I see you've arrived. So, tell me the reason why we came to meet."

"Good afternoon, Mr. Anderson, I came to ask permission to…"

"COUGH COUGH sorry to interrupt Jack. I choked on my little tea haha, where were we?"

"No problem. I came to ask permission to interrogate suspects connected to the murders that have been happening recently."

"Hmmm, Jack my friend, you know the answer to that request is almost certainly a no, right?"

"But I beg you, please. I feel that in this particular case something very strange is going on. I even spent days without finding a single clue. I believe this is the most difficult case we detectives have faced in recent years."

After seeing Jack replying with a serious and determined face, Anderson couldn't say no.

"Uff, very well. Jack, since you're one of the greatest detectives currently in the city, you will be granted the right to interrogate any suspects you wish for one hour and no more. You have a promising future, kid. I hope you don't stray from the right path and also take this as a warning from an old man who was once the greatest detective in this city: be careful with what you see, many times we are deceived by things that make no sense at all. That's how I got this scar on my eye: when I thought I had defeated a killer in a fight to the death, I was struck from behind in the middle of a fog caused by the rain that night."

"Thank you very much, Mr. Anderson!!"

Ahhh, it's no wonder he was called The Berserker in his days as a detective. The presence he exudes intimidates anyone.

Minutes after Jack left the scene, the criminal prison collapsed.

"Aaaah!!! Argh!" (Prisoner screaming in pain)

"This detective is way too fierce!! Don't you think?"

"Yes! His brutality is immense, but for some reason, the methods of interrogation he uses on his suspects are precise and effective. How terrifying!"

Said the guards, who were watching Jack interrogate the suspects in a separate room for the detective's safety in case something unexpected happened.

"I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING! I PROMISE AHHHHHHHHHHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA... ah."

"Hmm, I guess this one didn't know anything either. Suspect number 10, please! I'm in a hurry, BRING HIM IN NOW QUICKLY!!!"

.... (Jack looks back at the criminal, unconscious after so much torture)

Pfft![1] What disgusting people.

[1] Jack spits in the criminal’s face.
