Chapter 8 - Ch.8

Kuoh Academy had two school buildings. Even after the new one was put into use, the old one was not abandoned. Instead, it was used for club activities.

The Occult Research Club was on the left, and the student council was on the right.

After school, Koneko led Luo Guang to the old building.

The old building was surrounded by trees. No one came here on a regular basis, and there were even legends about the "Seven Mysteries of the School."

It was a two-story building, and both the exterior and interior hallways were kept very clean.

When they reached the second floor, Koneko opened the door, and the interior came into view.

It was decorated like a study. Several rows of bookshelves lined the walls, and the middle of the room had an office-like setup.

But besides the furniture, the walls, floor, and even the ceiling were covered in obscure writing. They were devil runes, filling every corner of the room.

The most striking feature was the large red magic circle that took up a large portion of the room. Luo Guang knew that it was a dimensional array that connected to the Underworld. With permission, one could use this teleportation circle to travel directly to the Underworld.

Ordinary devils could not use it; only high-ranking devils were qualified to own it.

"Welcome, welcome."

A red-haired beauty walked up to Luo Guang as he entered the room.

Her fiery hair shone brightly under the lights, and her mature, voluptuous figure, which most girls her age could only dream of, exuded an extraordinary charm even in the standard girl's school uniform.

This was Rias Gremory.

Her emerald eyes held a smile. It wasn't because she was particularly happy, but rather a result of her upbringing.

Behind her was a black-haired woman with a figure no less impressive than Rias's.

However, unlike Rias, who had a Western appearance, the black-haired girl seemed more reserved. When she smiled, her eyes would squint, giving her a gentle impression.

Her straight legs extended from beneath her skirt, making it hard to look away.

"It's nice to see you again, Luo Guang-kun. I don't think we need to introduce ourselves again, do we?" Rias greeted Luo Guang politely with a nod.

Respect was a two-way street, and Luo Guang's power as a human was worthy of her respect.

Luo Guang responded with a professional demeanor, giving Rias a quick handshake before letting go.

"No need. I'm just a nobody. But Rias-san, as the heiress of the Gremory family and with such beauty, it would be difficult to forget you. If there's a chance, you're welcome to visit my home."

Luo Guang never held back his admiration for truly beautiful women. Moreover, he and Rias had no animosity between them, and there were still many plot points to come involving this young lady.

Rias seemed to sense the deeper meaning behind Luo Guang's invitation but didn't refuse it. She simply nodded in agreement and said, "Akeno, please serve the tea."

"It's already brewed. It's the excellent West Lake Longjing imported from the East," Akeno said, smiling as she presented a cup of tea with both hands.

As a proper guest, Luo Guang deserved the same politeness from her as well. Besides, with Luo Guang's popularity at school, even setting aside other factors, Akeno Himejima genuinely appreciated his abilities.

"Rias-san, you're used to drinking tea?" Luo Guang asked.

"At first, I couldn't accept it, but ever since you refused me last time, I've grown to like the bitter taste."

The subtext was clear. Even after several months, Rias was still bothered by Luo Guang's rejection.

This showed that Rias had not completely given up on the idea of inviting him to become her servant.

But for now, she couldn't find a good reason to bring it up.

Forcing him was out of the question, which was the basis of Luo Guang's willingness to even talk to her.

As for enticing him...

Rias had actually had Koneko try to sway him, telling him that he could join the Underworld's administration, enjoy a lifetime of generous benefits, and have flexible and easy working hours with high pay and low work intensity.

But none of this held any appeal for Luo Guang. If Rias had offered to be his concubine, then there might have been some room for consideration.

After a moment of small talk, Luo Guang took a sip of his tea and asked, "So, what did you want to see me about this time?"

"It's like this..."

Seeing Luo Guang get straight to the point, Rias didn't beat around the bush and asked directly. "Recently, I've received many reports from my familiars about murders. In every case, the victims' wounds were all from a blade. So, you're the one who did it, aren't you?"

"That's right, it was me," Luo Guang admitted openly. "But I have to correct you on one point: I didn't kill people, I killed monsters."

"Of course, I know that. Otherwise, I wouldn't have welcomed you with such a pleasant attitude," Rias said with a smile.

As the administrator of Kuoh City, she would never allow a murderer to roam freely.
