I was eating my breakfast of luxury (A blueberry muffin) when I heard a Knock at the door, my mom Had always left for work early, so she wasn't home, she left me her usual daily list of chores, one of which being for me to get groceries, so I would have to take care of that later. I walked towards my front door with Yamada's hat in hand and looked out the peephole, sure enough there she was, Yamada in her school uniform, As always it was the usual plaid blue skirt, blue blazer, red bowtie, and today she was wearing her glasses. I opened the door and greeted her.
"Good morning, You're here early, that's surprising."
Yamada looked at her hat in my hand and then back at me, frowning.
"Mornin, also why are you saying that like it's a bad thing?"
"It's not, again it's surprising."
I outstretched my hand with her hat in it, and she quickly took it back and put it on her head, though it didn't match her outfit at all it appeared that she did not care.
"If you go to school now your gana be stuck outside the gates for at least two hours."
"I know…"
Yamada looked down at her shoes and scratched the back of her head, clearly contemplating if she should go home or just head to school, then her eyes widened and she picked her head back up.
"May I come in?"
"I thought you wanted to come in on Saturday."
"I know, I know, It's just that my house is an 18 minute walk from here, and I haven't had breakfast, plus I always wondered what the inside of a foreigners house looked like."
"Just because Im white doesn't mean I'm a foreigner, It's generally not good to make assumptions like that."
Yamada crossed her arms and made a pouty expression, and then she began to walk into my home uninvited
"Wait hold on-"
Yamada promptly ignored my cries of protest and barged her way past the front door, walking past me leaving me in awe with her pure lack of manners, and the pure amount of boldness she had to just do that.
"You can't just barge into a stranger's home uninvited!"
"Well sorry, your answer to my question took too long, waiting got boring."
"It was less than 10 seconds!"
"Relax, you're acting like I just committed homicide."
"Good mother of god-"
Yamada and I stood in the hallway to my house in complete silence for a good minute before I spoke up again, this time just accepting my fate that this was how things were going to go down.
"Do you want me to make you breakfast?"
Yamada perked up, processing what I had said, and then smiled with delight.
"I would love that, thank you."
"I hope you like American cuisine, because that's all my mother taught me how to cook."
"I have never had anything like that before but I would love to try it."
"It's good, I think you will like it."

Yamada was sitting at the dining table in my kitchen, one hand on her stomach and the other dead scrolling through her phone, she had a look of euphoria on her face, she indeed loved my cooking, after I had given her first plate, she took almost no time in consuming all the eggs, bacon, and toast laid I had laid out carefully on the plate to make it look as appealing as possible, after she finished she begged for seconds, and so reluctantly I cooked her up something new, biscuits with gravy, and sausage, after finishing that she looked absolutely stuffed to the point of bursting.
"Alright I'll wash these now, you can just head to school and I'll be fine."
Yamada turned her gaze from her phone back to me, outstretched both her hands with a guilty look on her face.
"Wait no no no, let me help with cleaning, it's the least I can do."
"Are you sure? It will take me 2 seconds to clean this all up."
Yamada put her phone and her pocket and produced a hair tie, before grasping a large portion of her hair and tying it in a bun and securing it with her hair tie.
"Yes, I am sure, I want to help."
"Alright, you can wash the dishes then, I will put away all the ingredients I got out."
"Got it…"
In silence we both worked, I took a carton of eggs off the counter and shoved it in between my armpit, and then picked up the butter also, before shoving them back in the fridge, on the counter it was a mess, during my whole cooking adventure I managed to spill some gravy, raw eggs, and some bacon grease onto the white marble of my workspace, To went to the sink where Yamada was working on the dishes and produced a rag from one of the drawers, before wetting it up.
As I was heading towards my mess to clean it up, I felt a tap on my shoulder and felt water course through the spot that was touched and turned around.
"I'm sorry."
"Eh, for what?"
"Being so troublesome, sometimes I do stupid stuff, I mean I barged in here like I owned the place, I'm really sorry about that."
"You know what, for what it's worth I'm glad you came in, I usually don't cook for other people, it was quite fun, but next time I would prefer you to ask to come in, alright?"
"Next time? Oh right, I'm coming back here on Saturday, I almost completely forgot about that."
*****
"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow, yeah?"
"Yeah."
After both exchanging out goodbye's I decided to let her go ahead to school, the last thing I wanted to do was walk with her to school and have it start a rumor within my class, now that her hat was back in her possession I started to think about just how chaotic this day has been already, she had too much energy for me to handle honestly, but for once in my life It felt nice to have a little chaos be apart of my routine, I wouldn't call us "friends" yet but she did kind of suit my personality, and hobbies. But what really stuck in my mind was her mannerisms, the way she spoke, her outgoing personality, they all felt all so familiar to me for some odd reason.
Anyways I had dawdled long enough, I had a good 30 minutes to get to school, I needed to hurry up or else I was going to be late, and so I started running.

I was walking to my first period class, when I saw him, Himura Akio one of my seniors who was on the archery team, he had brown hair, and green eyes, and he had a really muscular and tall build to him to the point where it was scary, and he was talking to Yamada, of course I thought nothing of it, people talk to each other all the time why should I care? However as I was starting to walk past them that's when I heard Yamada whisper something to him.
"Speak of the devil, that's him."
"That's Sato Masaichi?"
I quickened my pace, I wanted out of this situation and fast.
"Huh? Hey wait a minute, I want to talk with you."
I stopped dead in my tracks and turned around, I put my hands in my pockets and tried to remain calm. I don't know why Yamada was talking to this random dude about me but whatever it was, it wasn't good.
"Y-yeah, what is it?"
Himura walked over to me, his frame towering over me in a way that made my legs want to buckle, and give way to the relenting fear I was experiencing in this moment.
"Thanks for treating my cousin with such hospitality despite her… lack of manners."
Yeah, I'm screwed.
