Chapter 19 - She's a Good Girl

Compared to the Saiyan physique, Earthlings were much weaker. After all, Saiyans were a terrifying race capable of gaining even greater power after recovering from near-death experiences. Therefore, a Saiyan might only need to rest for a while to recover from exhaustion, but Ling An slept for a whole day.

Even so, after she could move again, her whole body ached.

It was under these circumstances that she received her third-anniversary special benefit. Each special benefit required her to complete a full Earth year, regardless of where she was, as long as she completed one Earth year. Therefore, using the Time Machine to jump ahead in time wouldn't allow her to obtain another Special Critical Hit. However, if she stayed in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for two years, even if only two days passed outside, she would have actually spent two years, so she could receive two Special Critical Hits.

Ling An rubbed her hands together and instructed the system to activate the Special Critical Hit. But when she saw what the critical hit yielded, she couldn't help but gasp, her face filled with shock and joy.

On the system panel, it clearly read: 20x Battle Power Boost Card.

Yes, a 20x Battle Power Boost Card. As long as she used this card, she could increase her current Base Battle Power by twenty times. With her current power exceeding a hundred million, if she used the 20x Battle Power Boost Card, she would instantly possess over two billion power!

"Over two billion power... if I had encountered the Androids a day later, wouldn't it have been like slaughtering chickens?" Ling An murmured to herself, sighing inwardly. But, although she missed that day, at least Son Gohan had dealt with the Androids, and she had survived, so there was no need to dwell on it.

Ling An looked at it. This 20x Battle Power Boost Card had no time limit, meaning she could use it indefinitely. Although the 20x battle power boost wasn't as good as Son Gohan and the others' Super Saiyan's fifty times, and Super Saiyan 2's even hundred times battle power boost, she was already very satisfied with this card for now.

And her Base Battle Power could increase every day. When she possessed a Base Battle Power of one billion, using this card would allow her to contend with a Super Saiyan 2. Furthermore, she had a system. As long as nothing went wrong, her future was bright. Given time, she would dare to challenge even a God of Destruction or an Angel.

Ling An also discovered that although this 20x Battle Power Boost Card was not as powerful as a Super Saiyan's fifty-fold increase, Super Saiyan was essentially just a transformation. There were many ways to prevent Saiyans from transforming. For example, Trunks, not long ago, couldn't maintain his Super Saiyan form after being punched in the stomach by an Android.

But Ling An's boost card was different. As long as she didn't remove it, the card wouldn't become ineffective. At the same time, she didn't have to worry about maintaining this state consuming her stamina. It could be said that she had permanently increased her power by twenty times.

Regarding this, Ling An could only say, "System-made, it must be a fine product."

She opened her personal attribute panel, and her current battle power had become: 114,030,000 (Base), 2,280,600,000 (20x Battle Power Boost Card).

Feeling the powerful energy within her, Ling An smiled with satisfaction.

In the following days, Ling An rested with Son Gohan at their home on Paozu Mountain. Searching for the Androids and fighting them for the past few days had indeed strained her mind and power. It was necessary to rest quietly for a while.

However, what troubled Ling An was that Chi-Chi was always probing her. Although Ling An wasn't very emotionally intelligent and had never been in love, she basically knew what Chi-Chi was up to.

It was probably just like Bulma, trying to set them up.

This made Ling An a little puzzled. In the main storyline, Chi-Chi initially misunderstood Son Gohan's relationship with Videl and strongly opposed it, fearing that Videl would steal Son Gohan away. It was only after she knew about Videl's family background that she didn't object. So, the question was, now that she was dirt poor, even poorer than Son Gohan's family, why would Chi-Chi take a liking to her?

She naturally didn't understand Chi-Chi's thoughts. Besides, she was also a victim of being too close to the situation. She always applied the plot she saw in her previous life to the Dragon Ball world in reality, which wasn't entirely correct. Even if everything followed the plot, she still had to consider the differences in the world.

Don't forget that Son Gohan in the main storyline was the famous Nobi Gohan, and Trunks was just a spoiled brat. But in this world, Son Gohan, even if he wasn't devoted to martial arts, still had the desire to become stronger, at least before Son Goku and the others were resurrected. Trunks was the same, and he later grew up and became independent.

In this case, how could she use the Chi-Chi from the main timeline and apply her to the Chi-Chi in this world? Different experiences naturally lead to different personalities and thoughts.

Chi-Chi in this world had been poor for more than a decade, so she didn't have much interest in wealth. After all, the entire human social order had been destroyed by the Androids. What was the use of money?

Besides, she also knew Gohan's current situation. The Son Gohan in the main timeline was called Nobi Gohan, which was only what those disappointed viewers thought. But for Chi-Chi, who didn't want Son Gohan to learn martial arts, Son Gohan had excellent grades and got into a good school, with a promising future. In this case, she would naturally have higher requirements for Son Gohan's future partner.

However, Son Gohan in this world had already abandoned his studies for more than a decade, and he was also quite old. Furthermore, he had lost an arm. In contrast, Ling An was powerful in martial arts and also good-looking. In Chi-Chi's opinion, her conditions were much better than Son Gohan's.

Furthermore, although Son Gohan strongly opposed his relationship with Ling An, Chi-Chi could see that Son Gohan actually had some affection for Ling An, even if it was just friendship. That was enough, because this was already a breakthrough. Besides Ling An, Son Gohan didn't even have the slightest bit of friendly affection for other girls his age!

Or rather, did Son Gohan even have any other female friends his age?

Thinking that Son Gohan was as clueless about relationships as his father, Son Goku, it was almost impossible to get him to take the initiative. Under these circumstances, Chi-Chi naturally started with Ling An.

However, after trying many times, Ling An remained completely indifferent, which made Chi-Chi quite frustrated and helpless. If Son Gohan had some friendly affection for Ling An, Chi-Chi felt nothing from Ling An.

"Could it be that she really doesn't like my Gohan?"

Chi-Chi was worried, but she still didn't give up on trying to bring the two together.

One day, Ling An was helping Gohan hoe the fields with great interest. As a child who grew up in the city, she was still very interested in these things. She held the seeds and scattered them into each dug hole, then covered them with soil again and poured some water.

If it were in her previous life, even if she was very interested in planting vegetables, she wouldn't have actually done it herself, because it was really tiring. It was fine to experience it, but it wouldn't work to actually plant vegetables. But now she was, after all, a powerful martial artist, and bending over to plant vegetables really didn't take much effort.

With their combined effort, they managed to plant a significant portion of land in just half a day. Compared to the entirety of Paozu Mountain, it wasn't much, but to be fair, only Son Gohan's family lived there, so there wasn't much point in planting more than they needed.

They had only cleared some areas to grow various crops, aiming for a diverse harvest. Once they finished, Chi-Chi brought out the juice she had prepared.

The two of them gulped it down, the icy liquid refreshing and invigorating.

"Thank you, Aunt Chi-Chi."

Ling An returned the cup, expressing her gratitude politely.

"Oh, there's no need to thank me. It was nothing. If anyone should be thanking someone, it should be me thanking Ling An for helping my Gohan with the farming! Seeing you two makes me think of Goku. We were the same back then, working together, planting field after field. It's been almost twenty years since Goku died, and Gohan has grown so much."

Chi-Chi suddenly seemed a bit sad.

"Don't worry, Aunt Chi-Chi. We've asked Aunt Bulma to develop a Time Machine. Once it's ready, we'll go back and change history. If we can't, at least we'll know where New Namek is. Then we can use the Dragon Balls there to restore Earth, and Gohan's father can be revived," Ling An comforted her.

"I hope so. It's been over a decade. I don't know if Goku has reincarnated. If he has, it might not be possible to revive him," Chi-Chi said with lingering worry.

"Aunt Chi-Chi, think about it. The Androids have been ravaging Earth for over a decade. Who would want to have a child in such circumstances? Would they want their child to face the Androids' threat? Even if someone was willing, there probably wouldn't be many. The chances of it being Gohan's father are also very low."

Ling An knew that people like Son Goku and Piccolo, even after going to the afterlife, hadn't reincarnated and could continue training with their bodies. In over a decade, Son Goku had probably reached at least Super Saiyan 2. But she couldn't possibly reveal such information. After all, even Bulma and Son Gohan didn't know about it. If she knew so much, it would be quite strange.

However, her words to comfort Chi-Chi were also true. After the Androids' rampage on Earth, how many people would still want to have children? They could barely protect themselves, let alone a newborn. Thus, Chi-Chi, hearing this, felt a little comforted and looked at Ling An with even more satisfaction.

"Ling An, you're such a good child!"

"Hehehe..."

Seeing Chi-Chi's increasingly satisfied gaze, Ling An suddenly felt she shouldn't have offered comfort...
