As soon as Nevaeh stepped into the Huck family home, a heavy, suffocating air pressed down on her.
Looking up, she saw Gerardo and his family of three sitting on the couch. Their eyes narrowed with hostility, like wild dogs waiting to pounce.
"Get over here!" Gerardo barked, his earlier cowardice gone, replaced by anger.
Nevaeh stood firmly at the entrance, refusing to move closer. "Didn't you say Grandma left behind some belongings? Where are they?"
She had only come because Noreen claimed her grandmother's possessions were still here.
Since they belonged to Grandma, she wasn't going to leave without them.
Suddenly, a glass ashtray flew straight at her.
Luckily, Frank reacted quickly and pulled her back just in time.
Crash!
The ashtray shattered at Nevaeh's feet, shards scattering across the floor.
Gerardo's face twisted with rage. "You think you can hide? This is all your fault!"
