"Why are you telling me this? What does it matter?" She could not understand why he would call to tell her this.
Casper's breath stopped for a moment.Silence reigned on his part.She didn't care.She doesn't care.
"I-I-I just wanted you to know." He stammered after getting a little hold on himself.
"Am hanging up.Bye." Raina kept her phone and went back to her act class practice.
Raina found herself unable to do so.She felt shitty like she's done something terrible.What is this feeling?
Oh right! A part of her was thankful that it was a fake news even though she hadn't seen the article.Raina felt reassured hearing it firsthand from Casper.
Her thoughts and feelings towards him were completely normal.She saw him as a friend.But they are known nearly worldwide as a great-together-looking couple.She would be a laughing stock if he were to suddenly get engaged.
Raina knew it was quite selfish.But,she wanted to eat the success cookie a little more.Her relationship with Casper put her on hot celebrity news and she wanted it to remain that way for at least a few months.
"Back to earth Raina!" The instructor yelled.Raina jerked out of her thoughts on hearing that.
"Raina." Mrs Flynn began. "You especially should not slack off with these act lessons.You need to continue the streak! Maintain the fame you have now while also reaching for more.Lackluster acting in a movie role would bring you down in an instant and disappoint your fans.Do you understand?"
"Yes Mrs.Flynn." Raina answered
"Good.Now where were we?"
"That was very low of you mom! How could you do that?" Casper scolded his mom.
Fiona rolled her eyes at her son's antics. "Oh come on,son.It is not like I lied.It is going to happen sooner or later anyway."
"I am never marrying Mia-or whatever her name is." Casper firmly stated.
"Is it because of that girl?" Fiona asked referring to Raina.
Casper said nothing.He did not know what to answer to that.
Love? He doesn't know what that is.But he knew his feelings for her was more than likeness.
Casper was hurt by what Raina said earlier on the phone.But she was right though.What they were doing wasn't real dating.
Casper found himself not bold enough to do something for the first time in his life.He couldn't tell her how he felt.He figured it was too soon-morevoer she still probably has a bad impression of him.And he also did not want to rush it.They have only known each other for a little close to a month.It wasn't the right time.
His silence answered Fiona who let out a deep exasperated sigh.She has never ever been able to force her son into eating certain foods when he was little much less force an unwanted spouse on him.He is an incredibly stubborn kid who was used to having his way.
Fiona always knew this day would come.But she had always wished to have a say on who her future daughter in law would be.Fiona wanted to use that to experience what it was like to have a daughter.But that seems too much now.
And even if she does get her son to marry Meave,Fiona knows that Casper would torture the poor girl and make her life a living hell.
"I'II tell Meave not to hope on you anymore.Do what you want as long as you give me a grandchild by the end of this year." Fiona gave out a condition.
"I am just twenty-seven mom.What's the rush?"
"You-" Fiona threw her phone at him in anger.Casper caught it expertly as it was about to hit his face.Casper was long used to his mother's habit of throwing things when she is angry.
"What is the rush you say? All of my age mates have grandkids already and I am the only one left out.
Hell! I don't even go outings with them anymore because they indirectly throw jabs at me by talking incessantly about their grandkids!" Fiona was the type of woman who would have loved to have lots of children.But she ended up having just one.So she has a desperate wish for a grandchild than most parent.
Casper's father doesn't care because he has grandkids from his other son born to him by his then personal assistant who is now his second wife.
Paul is a dumbhead like his mother.He could never compete with half of Casper's level.Fiona knows for sure that her ex-husband wouldn't leave their major family businesses to that lot.
So Casper needed to be responsible and settle down to be more eligible to handle the Lu's family businesses.
Wife? Children? Casper had never been able to imagined himself as a husband and a father.The thought totally creeps him out.But he knew it was inevitable.So he settled for the idea of a baby mama.
But the idea of being a family man did not now seem that bad if it was a certain person.
Oh damn it! What was he thinking when he hasn't even told her how he felt.
"I am leaving.Bye." Casper suddenly stood up and announced.
"But lunch is not ready yet.And if I remember correctly,you have a free schedule today." Fiona nearly slapped herself when she realized what she said.Damn it! She just gave away the fact that she spies on his schedule.
Casper sighed before turning to look at his mom.He could understand and not understand her at the same time.She could play the stalker mom because he is an only child.If there were more others,she wouldn't focus on him so much.
Casper didn't know who to blame for that.He shook his head and walked out the sitting room ignoring Fiona's calls.
Casper got into his blue convertible and drove out of the compound.His phone pinged with a message.It was an invitation to the Golden Music Awards set to happen tonight.He made a mental note not to go and insteads.....maybe call her out to watch a movie.They would surely be seen by some fans who would take photos and post it on the internet.He and her were the ultimate celebrity couple at the moment.
After the movie,they would go to a restaurant of her choice.There,he could maybe tell her about his feelings....? Great idea.
He dialed her number.His heart raced with every ring.She picked up after the fourth ring.
"Hey." She sounded bored.
"U-Uhm Huh.Hey! Huh.Are you free tonight?" Gosh what's with the confusion?
"I think so."
"Would you like to see a movie with me tonight?"
Raina thought about it and it didn't seem like a bad idea. "Okay."
Casper hit the steering wheel out of excitement.
"Bye.I am bu-"
"Wait!" Shouted Casper as she was about to hang up.
"Uhm....this might sound strange to you but huh.Which cuisine is your favorite? I mean like; Continental,Western,french, Japanese or Chinese?"
"Why are you asking?"
"I was thinking we could go to a restaurant before or after the movie.So I wanted to know your preference before I make a reservation."
"There's no need for that.We could go to a local.I know of a very good Galbi restaurant.It also sells great fish soup."
Her voice sounded a little happier at the end.
"Sounds great."
"You need to hang up now.Bye."
"Bye."
A sense of foreboding filled Casper.He was allergic to seafood.
He concluded taking several shots of epinephrine before he goes just incase she decides to go for the fish soups.
