Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Shield of Aggramar

Unable to withstand Nash's attacks, it was impossible to kill it.

Gale had no solution, and neither did anyone else. Since Nash couldn't be killed, they could only passively endure the attacks. Therefore, everyone decided to strengthen their defenses to prevent sneak attacks from the Trolls.

Weeping Wind Canyon is insurmountable, and there aren't many places where Trolls can cross the canyon. Only a small riverbank on the east side allows passage, but this riverbank is completely under the threat of Heda'shal. By stationing some Rangers there for defense, a large Troll force can be blocked. Moreover, with Mages present, even with a Voodoo Shield protecting them, the Trolls cannot attack across the river.

If it were just the Trolls themselves, they would never be able to reach the depths of the river. But with the help of the Hydra, they could attack from wherever they wished.

The next morning, Hydra Nash appeared in the river, continuously attacking towards Heda'shal, killing the Rangers hidden behind rocks one by one.

Moon Fury Legion Commander could only order the Rangers to retreat and send Mages to harass Nash and attack the Trolls advancing along the river.

However, behind Nash, a large ship was being pulled forward by the Trolls. On the deck, more than a dozen Troll Witch Doctors were casting Voodoo to protect the Trolls.

Turann High Mage ordered a concentrated attack on the large ship, and countless spells flew towards it. As the spells approached, the Troll Chieftain raised Aggramar's Shield, which released a powerful energy shield, blocking the spells.

The Mages frowned, "What kind of shield is that? It can actually block so many attacks?"

"Looking at the runes displayed on it, it seems to be a Titan artifact!"

Turann High Mage was also surprised, "It's Aggramar's Shield! It actually fell into the hands of the Trolls. The Vrykul are truly useless!"

Aggramar's Shield? The Mages were very surprised; they had all heard the legends of Aggramar's Shield.

After the Kaldorei Empire was established, Mages were very keen on collecting magical items. They found a Titan Remains north of Sin'dorei and discovered a powerful treasure within it—the eye of aman'thul.

The Mages presented the eye of aman'thul to Azshara, who ordered the construction of Suramar City on the original site of the Titan Remains. The eye of aman'thul was also placed in Suramar City, and Azshara specifically sent her Mage advisor, Elisande, to govern Suramar and study the eye of aman'thul.

Later, they found the tide stone in the ruins of Gorgonnas's temple and established Nathalas Academy near the ruins. Prince Farodis was sent to Nasalas to lead the academy in training spellcasters for the Empire while also researching the tide stone.

Through the knowledge gained from the two Titan Remains, the Mages learned that the eye of aman'thul and the tide stone were both pillars of creation. There were a total of five pillars of creation, and Aggramar's Shield was one of the three pillars of creation that the Kaldorei Empire had not yet collected, possessing extremely powerful defensive capabilities.

"Go inform Gale, Aggramar's Shield can solve the problem of approaching Nash," Turann High Mage said.

Gale received the notification and quickly rushed over. After understanding the situation, he asked helplessly, "So, how can we obtain Aggramar's Shield?"

The Mages paused for a moment. Since Aggramar's Shield possessed super strong defensive capabilities, how could they kill the Troll Chieftain and seize Aggramar's Shield?

Turann High Mage also frowned; this was indeed a difficult problem.

"Is there any way to temporarily disable Aggramar's Shield?" a Mage asked.

Turann High Mage shook his head, "The pillars of creation are not ordinary artifacts; each contains powerful energy. Unless it's another pillar of creation, nothing else can affect them."

At this point, Turann High Mage immediately became alert: "We can send a message back to Suramar and have Elisande bring the eye of aman'thul over. Perhaps we can kill the Troll Chieftain and seize Aggramar's Shield."

The Mages' eyes lit up; this was truly a good idea.

Gale also agreed, but he said, "We can also notify Prince Farodis and ask him to bring the tide stone. When dealing with Nash, we can use the power of the tide stone to prevent Nash from retreating!"

Tulan nodded; it was indeed a good idea.

He immediately activated the Mage Tower's portal and disappeared before everyone's eyes. Half an hour later, Tulan reappeared, accompanied by Elisande and Prince Farodis.

The Kaldorei Empire already had a complete teleportation system, with Sin'dorei as a transit hub, connecting important cities such as Suramar and Nathalas Academy. Temporarily opening a portal could also be done through a Mage Tower, but this was a right only Archmages possessed, so Gale did not yet have his Mage Tower's spatial beacon.

The Trolls had already found a way up the mountain and were beginning to gather at the base, preparing to attack.

Gale suggested, "We need to lure the Chieftain up the mountain to better seize Aggramar's Shield."

Moon Fury Legion Commander said, "That's simple. I will set up two defensive lines. One will be at the mountain pass; after a brief resistance, we will retreat, making the Trolls believe we fear Nash's attacks. The other will be inside Heda'shal, where we will block the Troll attacks. As for seizing Aggramar's Shield, that will be up to you."

Turann High Mage said, "I will lead the Mages to hold back the Troll Witch Doctors and draw Nash's attention, preventing it from ascending the mountain path."

Maiev: "The task of ambushing the Troll Chieftain is ours!"

Moon Fury Legion Commander and Turann High Mage nodded. One went to set up defenses, and the other went to assign tasks to the Mages.

Maiev walked over to Gale and discussed with him how to ambush the Troll Chieftain.

Gale pointed to the nearby high mountain, "Soon, Prince Farodis, the Grand Magister, and I will strike at the Troll Chieftain from this mountain. Once the Troll Chieftain's attention is diverted, you can use Blink to launch a surprise attack, aiming for a single fatal blow."

Saying this, Gale handed her a Sanction Blade, "Using it will make it easier to kill the Troll Chieftain."

Maiev took the Sanction Blade, "I will deliver a fatal blow."

With that, she blinked onto the rooftop near the mountain path, hunkered down in the shadows, used Shadowmeld, and disappeared from everyone's sight.

Shadowmeld is a natural ability of the Kaldorei; as long as they stand still in the shadows, they can enter an invisible state. However, they cannot move after becoming invisible, so it can only be used for lying in wait or escaping in critical moments.

"Let's get ready too!"

Gale, along with Farodis and Elisande, reached the mountain peak next to the mountain path, overlooking the entire battlefield.

The Trolls charged up the mountain, enduring the arrow rain. The Mages also began to act, some killing Trolls, others attracting Nash's attention. The large ship ran aground in the river, and the Troll Chieftain, with his Witch Doctors, followed behind the charging Trolls, slowly making his way towards the mountaintop.

He had no idea that a trap had already been set for him on the mountaintop, just waiting for him to take the bait.
