Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Dividing the Loot

With Nash dead, the Trolls lost all will to fight. They turned and fled, some even leaping from the cliff.

Some Trolls chose to surrender, but death still awaited them.

The First Legion had suffered heavy losses; how could Moon Fury Legion Commander possibly take captives?

Not only that, Moon Fury Legion Commander ordered a pursuit, continuing until the Trolls were driven into the river. It wasn't that he didn't want to pursue further, but the small river was filled with Nash's poison. The Trolls, with their superior physiques, might have a chance to survive, but the Kaldorei would surely die if they entered the water.

Even so, the Rangers still sent the Trolls off with a volley of arrows from the riverbank.

"Boom, boom, boom—"

The sound of enthusiastic war drums echoed through Heda'shal, celebrating the victory of this battle.

The warriors of the First Legion, whose great vengeance had been exacted, shed tears of excitement. Moon Fury Legion Commander was also deeply moved; since he became Legion Commander, he had never fought a battle with such dramatic ups and downs.

However, he quickly composed himself, as there were still many matters to attend to.

First was cleaning up the battlefield. After this battle, the people of Heda'shal would return to live here.

The Troll corpses were collected, drained of blood, and their bones and marrow extracted. After being packaged in batches, they were sent to the warehouse to be used as materials for crafting Regeneration Potions.

Although a large quantity of materials was harvested, Carlos wasn't very enthusiastic. In this war, he had only killed a few Trolls who dared to charge the warehouse; the rest of the time, he could only watch.

Carlos's subordinates were equally dejected. While guarding the warehouse was safe, they would have preferred to die gloriously in battle.

Weapons dropped on the battlefield were also collected. Standard issue equipment would be uniformly recovered, while personal weapons belonging to warriors would be returned to their relatives and friends. The Trolls' weapons were stored in the warehouse as spoils of war, to be distributed after the war.

The Mages were busy collecting Nash's corpse. As a loa, Nash's body carried divine power; even a single piece of flesh was a valuable material.

However, they were only collecting; how it would be distributed still depended on the discussions of the several Big Boss.

Turann High Mage's eyes never left Aggramar's Shield. He greatly desired to claim this Titan artifact for himself. But how could Gale, this 'Mao Renfeng', allow someone to 'Mao' it?

He directly placed Aggramar's Shield into his magic pouch, not even mentioning its distribution.

Prince Farodis's lips curved slightly, as if he hadn't seen anything.

"Gale, my brother, I never thought you would actually kill Nash."

Turann High Mage was speechless. He, of course, understood that Prince Farodis was telling him that since Gale had killed Nash, he deserved Aggramar's Shield.

Among the four present, Prince Farodis had the highest status. Since he chose to side with Gale, Turann High Mage couldn't really say anything.

As for Maiev, she had no good impression of any Mages, except for Gale. So, expecting her to make Gale hand over Aggramar's Shield was completely impossible.

Giving up Aggramar's Shield, Turann was unwilling. So he could only make an issue of Nash's corpse. "The Mage team engaged Nash several times and suffered heavy casualties; they should rightfully receive Nash's head."

"You want all nine heads?" Maiev questioned.

Turann said, "These are all magical materials; the Elune Sisterhood doesn't need them."

"But His Royal Highness and Gale are also Mages!" Maiev said, "In my opinion, we should simply divide Nash's heads equally, three heads per person."

Prince Farodis interjected, "I didn't help much, so one head will be fine for me."

Hearing this, Turann was choked with anger. If preventing Nash from escaping counted as not helping much, then their containment efforts wouldn't even count as helping at all.

He realized then that these three were completely in league with each other.

Just as Turann High Mage was about to shamelessly press his case, Gale said, "It's very reasonable for His Royal Highness to take one head. The Mage team, for containing Nash, can also take one head, and they can decide how to distribute it themselves. Turann High Mage contributed greatly and can take one head. Another head will be allocated as a bereavement payment to the Mages who sacrificed themselves in the Mage team."

Turann's mood improved considerably when he heard he could take one head for himself. Although he still felt somewhat shortchanged, at least Gale acknowledged his contribution. While the distribution seemed somewhat reasonable, these were only four heads. "What about the other five heads?"

Gale continued to distribute, "The Priests also contributed to this war and can be allocated one head. The First Legion suffered heavy losses, so they also get one head as a bereavement payment."

Turann did not object to these two allocations. Although he disliked Maiev, the Priests had protected him. The First Legion's heavy losses were also significantly related to him, so one head as compensation was quite appropriate.

"The remaining three heads will be presented to Her Majesty the Queen!"

Turann opened his mouth, but could not voice an objection.

He looked at Gale suspiciously, "You don't want one?"

Gale nodded in affirmation, "Of course I want one. However, I will take two from the heads presented to the Queen, to offset the military expenses I advanced earlier."

Turann cursed inwardly: Damn it, I forgot about the advanced military expenses.

He now had some regrets. If the military funds hadn't been lost, Gale would have no reason to take two heads.

But then he thought, even if Gale couldn't get them, he would still only get one head! Whether Gale took them or Queen Azshara took them, it made no difference to him!

Seeing Gale so easily placate Turann, Prince Farodis and Maiev both looked at Gale with new respect.

Gale continued, "Of the remaining corpses, I need to take half to settle the debt owed to Nasalas. The rest will be divided into ten portions. Nine portions will be distributed according to the results of our discussion, and the remaining one will be sent to Suramar City as a thank you to Grand Magister Elisande."

"How much money did you owe in Nasalas?" Turann couldn't help but ask. This was too much.

Prince Farodis answered for Gale, "Over fifty thousand gold coins."

"That much?" Turann was astonished. "Wouldn't that empty out all the supplies in Nasalas?"

"More or less!" Prince Farodis said with a smile, "We only kept the most basic teaching tools; everything else was used to support the front lines."

Turann sneered inwardly: He makes it sound like a donation.

Maiev, seeing that Turann no longer objected, wanted to finalize the matter quickly.

"Since the plan is decided, let's distribute it quickly! We still need to rush back to Suramar. The Sisters have been out long enough and need to return to continue serving Elune!"

Turann nodded, "Don't worry, you'll get your share."

Gale smiled faintly, leaving Navoli and two others to monitor the Mages, while he, Prince Farodis, and Maiev returned to Heda'shal.

There were still Troll weapons to be dealt with there. In Gale's opinion, they would be transported to Suramar and Sin'dorei for sale, believing that many people would be willing to collect them.
