"Damn, everything's gotten out of control..." Jonathan, even if he wanted to leave this place, couldn't. And, to his bad luck, he realized too late that this mission far surpassed any other he had ever undertaken.
Not only had it involved the mysterious church that oversaw outbreaks of dark entities, but he was also leading a raid against a dark entity of a level he couldn't identify.
But for some reason, he never backed down, no matter how dangerous the dark entity he faced.
Maybe it was due to his blood heritage—it didn't matter. The only thing that mattered was to be careful, and everything would turn out fine.
"Does no one fear killing these innocent people who have been touched by evil?"
When Jonathan heard this question from the demon possessing the security guard, he showed no emotion and said, "In this line of work, sacrifices must be made. We're going to contain them, and then we'll eliminate you from this reality you don't belong to."
While Jonathan spoke with the demon, Frederick, standing behind the healing force agents, wasn't entirely sure what had gone wrong. Henry had told him everything would be fine, but now a demon had left everyone in the auditorium unconscious, and many of them were dead.
Frederick wouldn't lie—he was scared. But for now, he'd remain silent so as not to get Henry involved in whatever they had probably caused. But one thing he could accept was that evil existed in this world, and he was now becoming aware of it, looking at Jonathan, who seemed to have the situation under control.
Even though Frederick wanted to help, he knew there was nothing more he could do but stay back.
When one reaches the limits of human knowledge and understands that there are things beyond everyone's sight, a judgment of comprehension or ignorance comes into play. A person must decide whether to live believing in ignorance or to accept reality and fight against it.
Right now, Frederick had reached that point. So, looking at those security guards with their dark eyes, he knew perfectly well they were completely different people than they had been moments ago.
"Have mercy on me, my Lord..." Frederick murmured, searching for the image of God he had held in his mind since childhood, and his faith began to grow stronger.
Everyone, when in need, scared, or sick, needs a god to guide their thoughts, no matter if they were atheists before. When desperate, one always seeks God.
"When a virus is unleashed—one very strange and aggressive—what humans do is eliminate the infected once they have perished to the virus. The same is happening here. Now that we're in a critical situation, what we must do is eliminate the infected so the disease doesn't spread further."
Frederick, standing beside Raj, murmured, "We can still save them."
"That's not entirely wrong. We can save them, but most likely many of us will die trying. The aggression of those influenced by the demon is extreme. Whose lives do you want to save? Theirs or ours?"
Raj's answer reached everyone's ears, and to add to it, he pointed out, "We save people from supernatural beings, but it's also true that we are more useful than them. So, in this situation, what we can do to calm their souls is to eliminate them."
These words might sound cruel, but when you truly understand the sacrifice behind every containment of a dark entity, many come to understand Raj's point of view.
And worst of all, all that mental burden would fall on just one man—the specialized hunter in charge of containing threats—who had the authority to decide if elimination was appropriate or not, because he was the most qualified.
"Are you still at the auditorium entrance?" Jonathan slightly turned his head and, using a bit of his supernatural abilities in his eyes, clearly saw a dark plague on the other side of the auditorium entrance.
At that moment, two men placed their hands on the door, and a man who seemed to be another security guard came out holding the head of a woman—none other than Haley. The demon lifted her with one hand while smiling.
All the healing force agents spread to the sides of the hallway and aimed at the man controlled by the demon, ready to shoot at any moment.
"Looks like you have no idea, my dear priest," said the demon as parts of his human body began to deform and become more robust.
"Fire!" Jonathan didn't hesitate to give the firm order.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The security guards contaminated by darkness stepped forward and ran toward Jonathan at an abnormal speed, ignoring the bullets piercing their skin.
At that moment, Jonathan drew one of his revolvers, switched off the safety, and raised his pistol. As soon as a man completely covered in blood appeared before him, wielding a knife, Jonathan pulled the trigger without hesitation.
Bang!
The bullet pierced the forehead of the security guard, who already had dozens of bullet wounds on his body. Knowing this man couldn't survive the curse's release, Jonathan gave him a wound that wouldn't make him suffer.
The blood, guts, and hair from the security guard stained the wall to one side, but as if unaffected, Jonathan said, "Cover my back and advance slowly!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The gunfire didn't stop until all the security guards had been completely eliminated. Only then did they cease, while everyone looked at the lone figure still standing.
Looking at all the corpses on the floor, Jonathan advanced carefully, avoiding stepping on the blood. As he moved forward, Jonathan raised his hand and focused his eyes on the man standing in the middle of the hallway, who was smiling.
"You'll have to hurt me with more than just weapons. You have to show me you're someone who can at least give me a good show."
Jonathan, who heard the demon's words, raised his hand, pulled out a metal tube hidden in his arms, and held it like the hilt of a sword. Placing two fingers of his left hand on the metal tube and sliding them slightly through the air, he released a blue sword of divine energy.
No one could see it, but feeling the heat coming from Jonathan's position, there was no need to ask what he was doing.
