Chapter 10 - Free

They strolled through the glass double doors as Selene snapped the umbrella shut. She started to walk as Lucan and Kairo followed, "So… where are you... leading us?" Lucan was about to speak, but Selene beat Lucan to it, with a quiet tone, "You aren't logged into the database yet, so I am going to process you." They passed multiple agents, some of whom looked at Lucan like he was infected with a dangerous virus, and the others looked at Kairo like he was doomed.

Kairo noticed it but never said anything about it. Selene had led them to a small office, which had a camera, a white wall, a computer and a printer, "The processor." Lucan then added, "That's the name of the room." Selene then hugged Kairo by the arm, causing Kairo to blush a bit, before she pulled him in front of the camera. She then walked behind the camera as Lucan sat in the chair, not meant for him.

She snapped the photo as Lucan sat in the office chair. Selene then looked past Lucan to set the photo. Kairo's face was serious, which made Selene, for a split second, have a faint smile on her face. "Fill out—, Lucan, get up. Fill out the details on the computer and show me when you are done." Selene looked back at Lucan, who was now standing, "You notice the looks you've been getting?" Selene said in a whisper as Kairo filled out the details.

"Lucan, you notice the way people have been acting towards you?" He nodded before speaking, "They call this place free, but the way they stare at me… It's as if I'm already guilty. But guilty of what?" Kairo finished as he stood up, "I'm done." He turned the monitor to Selene as she looked over it.

"Kairo Veylan, 12/06/835, Silvervein District, Cloudveil Avenue No. 27, Altitude Bay…"
