For the first time, Mai Sakurajima truly understood what it meant to have a demon at her side.

Draconis had always seemed so normal—calm, polite, almost gentle. Most days, she forgot he wasn't even human, that he was the demon she'd summoned herself. But now, watching the dazed confusion on the faces of reporters and students alike, Mai realized his power ran far deeper than she'd ever imagined.

Draconis, meanwhile, was eyeing the crowd with a spark of mischief. If the spell could alter common sense, why not test its other function—erasing memories entirely? No harm in a little practice.

Mai caught the look in his eyes and sighed. "What are you scheming now?"

He grinned. "I did just announce I'm your boyfriend, but with your comeback at stake, maybe it's smarter to keep that under wraps. If you're game, I'll wipe their memories of the whole thing. Thoughts?"

Her cheeks flushed. "Y-yeah, you're right. Having a boyfriend isn't exactly great for business."

Draconis clutched his chest in mock heartbreak. "Ouch. So that's how it is. You wound me."

Mai rolled her eyes. His acting was pitiful. "That 'boyfriend' title is self-appointed, you know. I never made it official."

He feigned surprise. "Waiting for me to slip up, huh?"

She flashed a playful grin. "Obviously."

Draconis didn't argue. Instead, he snapped his fingers at the befuddled crowd.

Instantly, the reporters blinked and looked around, lost.

"Huh? What am I doing here?"

"Wait, you're here too? Is there some big story or something?"

The students were just as baffled, no one remembering why they'd gathered, or any of the rumors swirling about Mai Sakurajima.

But then, a sharp-eyed reporter spotted Draconis and Mai—her gaze locked on their joined hands. She froze, then lit up like she'd struck gold.

Mai Sakurajima. With a boy. Holding hands.

A scoop. A scandal. The kind of gossip that could set the internet on fire.

"That's her—quick, get the shot!" she shrieked to the cameraman.

Mai blinked, caught off guard.

Draconis groaned. "Great. Forgot they can see you now."

Mai shot him a look—she suspected he'd planned this, but couldn't prove it.

Within seconds, the press was back in action, cameras pointed straight at Mai.

"Miss Mai, is this your boyfriend?"

A flicker of shyness crossed her eyes, but she recovered quickly, facing the cameras with poise. "Yes. He's my boyfriend."

Draconis smiled, cool and collected. "So this is official, huh?"

Mai's cheeks reddened, but she kept her composure—except for the subtle stomp on Draconis's foot, all while maintaining a sweet, innocent smile for the cameras.

Draconis winced, but said nothing.

The reporters were ecstatic, snapping photos like crazy, already plotting how to spin the story. The shutters clicked nonstop, and soon even the students were craning their necks for a better look.

Just as the questions started flying again, Draconis raised a hand to cut them off. He turned to Mai, smiling. "With all these witnesses, looks like I've kept my promise. Ready to make it official?"

Mai hesitated, heart pounding. "We can sign the contract now? What do I need to do?"

He leaned in. "Ready?"

She nodded.

"Then kiss me."

Mai's face went crimson. "Wait—since when was that part of the deal?"

Draconis shrugged, unbothered. "If I'd asked upfront, you probably would've called the cops."

She stared at him, dumbfounded. Okay… he had a point.

"You're not backing out, are you?" he teased.

Mai shook her head. "I'm not that petty."

Taking a breath, she stepped closer, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him.

The moment their lips met, Mai stiffened—her first kiss, right here, in front of everyone.

The reporters froze, then erupted in cheers, cameras firing like machine guns. For entertainment journalists, this was the holy grail—Mai Sakurajima, who'd never even filmed a kiss scene, now making headlines with her real-life first.

Across the schoolyard, students stared in shock. Until now, Mai had always been distant, untouchable, never mingling with anyone. This—this was something else entirely.

After a few seconds, Mai pulled away, glancing around, feeling a subtle shift inside.

"Did it work?" she whispered.

Draconis smirked. "Not yet. Want to try again?"

Mai blinked, then caught on—he was messing with her.

"You…"

She stared at him, torn between embarrassment and exasperation. He really was a devil.

Draconis looked smug, voice light. "Contract or not, I'm not complaining."

He turned to the crowd, clapping to get their attention. "Alright, folks—show's over. Send me copies of your photos, then delete everything. Off you go."

With another flick of magic, the reporters fell under his spell, sending their files to Draconis and erasing all evidence before shuffling off like puppets.

Mai watched the scene unfold, equal parts amused and resigned.

Those poor souls never stood a chance.

Looking at Draconis, she finally understood—he was a demon, through and through.
