Chapter 32 - Chapter 31 Looking for Madden

Caitlin said, "I've reset Star Labs' satellites. They'll issue an alert as soon as there's any abnormal weather."

"Good!"

Just like before, it was a very clever idea. Lin Li praised her.

Then there was a silence that lasted several minutes.

"..."

Lin Li broke the silence: "What should we do next?"

"Wait!"

Caitlin said seriously.

"What?"

Cisco asked, puzzled.

Caitlin replied with a helpless expression, "We can only wait for the metahuman to use his powers. Only then can we track his location."

"Oh no, I don't want to just sit here waiting for Weather Wizard. I'm going to fix the Lightning Suit. Weather Wizard is really a pain; he ruined my Lightning Suit."

After grumbling, Cisco left the control room in the main hall. He was going to the Surgery to retrieve the Lightning Suit for repairs.

"While I'd also like to get my work done, it's hard without a target. Call me if there's any news. I'm going to grab some Power Bars and head to the underground training room."

Lin Li finished speaking and also left the control room in the main hall.

That left Caitlin and Doctor Wells staring at each other.

Doctor Wells smiled and said, "Caitlin, you go ahead and get busy too. I'll watch."

So Caitlin went directly to the Surgery to check on Barry.

Power Bars were energy bars created by Cisco. The liquid, about twenty centimeters long and finger-sized, contained highly concentrated electrical nutrients. However, the taste was really not good; every time Lin Li sucked on it, he felt like he was sniffing snot, which was quite disgusting.

Lin Li didn't expend much stamina or electricity in his battle; most of it was used to physically endure damage and protect Cisco and Barry. He had only fired 6 current rays and 1 lightning spear, plus the stamina and electricity used to withstand damage. He recovered after eating two or three Power Bars.

Arriving at the underground training room, he first cleaned up the iron sand that had spilled from the sandbags. That day, he had demonstrated current rays in front of Wells, and then spent two days researching the interdimensional energy radiation detector. He hadn't been down to the training room for two days, so it wasn't too dirty. After cleaning up the iron sand and removing three punctured sandbags, Lin Li sat down cross-legged in the spacious room.

He closed his eyes and sensed that speck of starlight from the Speed Force. Since Barry had stabilized, this bit of Speed Force had also stabilized.

The Speed Force mode he had once entered fascinated him. The entire world would stand still, giving him the feeling that the whole world was fake, full of NPCs, and only he was real. That dream-like 'reality' was captivating.

This was a power that, once touched, could not be abandoned. No wonder in the original TV series, Zoom and Trajectory couldn't give up the Speed Force, because it was simply too intoxicating. It was a power one would sacrifice life to obtain, let alone this fake Doctor Wells. How could he possibly give up such a power?

Lin Li had experienced the Speed Force mode for two or three seconds, but unfortunately, the Speed Force didn't belong to him. It was like a borrowing. The Speed Force in his head was not in the same dimension as him. The Speed Force was always connected to Barry. No matter how much he tried to control it, the Speed Force was like a phantom; his hand would pass right through it, as they were not in the same dimension.

He wanted to master the Speed Force, he wanted to obtain the Speed Force, he wanted to run, but it was all in vain. The Speed Force completely ignored him.

Lin Li clenched his fists, gritted his teeth, and felt very annoyed in his heart.

Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!

He was unwilling, very unwilling. The Speed Force was such a buggy power. Why did he control lightning? They were both struck by the same lightning bolt. Why! Why!

If he controlled the Speed Force, he could travel through time, travel to the moment he arrived, run back to that vortex, and maybe he could go back.

But now he still had to wait for Barry for another six months, which was an ordeal.

After being annoyed for a while, Lin Li still had no solution. The Speed Force completely did not belong to him and was beyond his control.

Lin Li's clenched fists gradually relaxed. Adjusting his mood, he opened his eyes, and electric arcs flashed within them. He activated his superspeed thinking, picked up his tablet, and continued to study all physics knowledge related to black holes and wormholes.

There was more than one way to solve a problem, and he couldn't rely entirely on Barry. He also had to work hard, approach it from multiple angles, and try every possible method.

He studied until 7 PM, but Star Labs' satellites hadn't detected any abnormal weather, and Joe hadn't sent any messages.

It wasn't until 8 PM that Joe arrived in his police car to find Lin Li.

"Lin Li, let's go. Marden has three hideouts; he might be at one of them."

Lin Li briefly spoke to Wells and the others, then got into the police car with Joe.

"Joe, you're too slow. It's been a whole day, and you're only now finding Marden's possible hideouts?"

"You should feel lucky that I was able to find a few of his residences from a pile of death records that were about to be destroyed."

"Alright!"

Joe drove the police car. The first place they went was a chaotic residential building with many Black residents. In rental unit 3308, they found leftover food that was moldy and stinking from two or three days ago. This was good news, proving that Marden had been there a few days ago, but now his whereabouts were unknown. From the looks of it, he wouldn't be returning there; if he were, he would have come back sooner. Moreover, Marden had lost an arm and needed a place to rest.

Joe made a detailed note of the location, notified the patrol police to keep an eye out, and then he and Lin Li rushed to the next place.

The next location was a haunted suburban villa. Aside from the dark, gloomy rooms and the mournful sounds of the cool wind, there was no one there, not even any footprints. According to Joe's estimation, no one had stepped into this villa for at least six months.

Joe directly crossed the villa off his notepad, listing it as a location not to be concerned with.

Joe, looking a bit tired, held his notepad and said, "The last location is a farm on the west side of the city."

Lin Li's eyes lit up. Wasn't this the farm where Marden was in the TV series?

He felt a bit regretful. If only he had asked Joe for the three locations earlier, he could have come here first. He had gone in a big circle and wasted the entire evening.

Now, he didn't know if Marden would still be there.

When they arrived at the farm, Lin Li immediately released his magnetic field sense. There was a human life sign, but unfortunately, when Joe and Lin Li went to inquire, they found it was only a farm worker, a thin, middle-aged man around forty years old.

Joe took out Marden's portrait and asked, "Do you know this person?"

The farm worker's eyes darted around, and he stammered, "I don't know him."

Joe and Lin Li became suspicious and exchanged glances.

The farm worker suddenly pushed Joe away and ran.

Lin Li took two steps and kicked him to the ground.

Joe drew his gun and pointed it at him: "Don't move, lie down. Where is Marden?"
