The couple got home a bit exhausted. They headed up the stairs to their bedroom. Zyra hopped on the bed smiling satisfied while Victor took of his coat.
"Another victory". He smiled at his wife.
"Not completely. But this bit wouldn't have been successful without you. Thanks hubby". She spoke looking into her husband eyes with so much respect and love.
Victor went over and sat on the bed beside his wife.
"Who could slip from Mrs Hale's grip?". He smiled back at her, the same look in his eyes.
Zyra's smile broadened she had the most supportive husband.
"I can't believe I almost ran away from this, from us. It's beautiful. We're beautiful".
"I'm glad my dad stopped at nothing to make you mine. 16 year old me wouldn't have fought to get a wife but now I know I wouldn't want any other person".
The couple stared into each other's eyes smiling at the nearly perfect bound they shared.
"So what now. What are you gonna do with the gold and the files?".
"Rafi would come home with updates for me this evening including all the files. As for the gold, 30% goes to those who carried out the heist and the remaining 70% would go to the small villages and businesses that Noel had defrauded as well as charity for orphanages and animal care that's the most we can do".
"Not bad".
"The three files I asked Brenda to take out are of three business owners. They worked for my father they were a part of his board. After he past they used the funds they had embezzled from his company to start up their own businesses. We're going to take it back. Their businesses would fall under the Hale group I'll make sure of that. As for the files from his safe, every embezzlement, frud and evaded tax I'll release to the press anonymously".
"You really did plan this whole thing out perfectly". Victor smiled admiring his wife's strategy.
"Yeah".
"But if he dies without refunding all of the government money and those companies who might sue him they'll come for his family. The Ashbourne's and you're one of them".
"Nahhhhh. Lilith Ashbourne died 16 years ago". She smiled rising to her feet she searched through some papers in her drawer and handed one of it to her husband.
"Oh my God. You have a certificate?". He was holding the death certificate of 8 years old Lilith Ashbourne.
"Yes. Mr Veyron made sure I was out of trouble from those who wanted to wipe out my father's lineage. His family are going to keep paying debts until they go bankrupt".
"Are you going to see Noel at the hospital then?".
"The hospital?". She asked with a smirk.
"Yeah. He must be taking treatment now. He passed out at the bank".
"Oh yes. He's taking treatment but not in the hospital. Why kill him somewhere it would be difficult to move his body? I already prepared a bed for him, he has to lay in it". Hers eyes went dark with terror and pain.
"It would soon be over my love". He squeezed her hand lightly. She became calmer.
"Why don't we celebrate tonight?". He smiled at her lovingly.
"I'd love to do that, but I don't feel like stepping out".
"We don't have to. We could just see a movie".
"I'd love that. While I lay on your chest and listen to your heartbeat".
"Who am I to stop you".
The couple freshened up and waited for the evening while Victor had to make a lot of calls from the office since he wasn't present. Rafi arrived home by past 7 with information for his boss. He also brought with him the suitcase with the files. They discussed for a while before he left.
By past 9, the couple sat in front of the screen in the theater room munching on popcorn and a bottle of red wine. The serenity of the room was lovely. The lights where turned off only the light from the screen shun in the room.
Zyra wrapped her arms around her husbands arms laying her head on his chest while he fed her popcorn.
A while into the movie, Victor got a call from the gatekeeper.
"Good evening sir". He greeted his boss respectfully.
"Good evening. What's wrong?".
"Sir there's a lady here claiming to be your mother, she has two young girls with her and she's making a scene".
"I'll get back to you. Let me check the screen". He dropped the call.
"Hey, is everything alright?".
"I'm sorry my love. The gatekeeper says there's a lady at the gate claiming to be my mother with two young girls. I have to check the screen".
"Should she be here today?".
"She shouldn't". He replied her standing to his feet. She went with him.
After checking the screen to confirm it was his father's mistress he called the gatekeeper back to let her in.
"This woman is going to be a whole lot of trouble". Zyra remarked after watching her create a scene on the screen.
"I'm sorry I'll be putting you up to this". Victor apologized to his wife.
"You shouldnt be, she's nothing I can't handle".
The couple strolled to the living room to welcome them. They sat on the couch waiting for them to walk in.
She walked in cursing, two younger girls following behind her.
"My son, what kind of staffs do you hire. They were all bent on humiliating me at the gate". She spoke spiteful. Not even a friendly greeting first.
Victor crossed his legs resting his back on the couch, one of his arm wrapped around his wife's shoulder as she sat beside him leaning in his direction.
"My home isn't a hotel Genevieve. People don't just walk in uninvited".
She fell quiet staring at Victor.
"You were supposed to come by weekend. What changed?".
"Oh dear, the weekend was taking so long to come and I had to see you". She spoke smiling coyly.
Victor knitted his brows. "And you're 3". He spoke referring to the third person with them. When she said she was coming she spoke only for herself and her daughter, now there was an extra person.
"Oh yeah. This is Sofie, she's Hazel's best friend, she lives with us sometimes. We were traveling and she was going to be so bored at home alone, so we decided to bring her with us".
"A 20 year old bored to stay home alone for a few days? Or is she younger than Hazel is ?".
"Hazel's 21 but that doesn't matter son. You know how this kids now-a-day's can be". She smiled again.
"Joey would show you to your rooms". He spoke calmer this time.
"Ahh, Hold on. Is this your wife?". She put on a face clearly stating she didn't like Zyra one bit. But that wasn't a problem, Zyra also didn't like her a bit.
"Yes. She's my wife".
"And is that how a wife should behave? Your mother came home and she couldn't even stand to her feet and greet me as if that wasn't enough she couldn't pick up my luggage to my room?".
Zyra scoffed at the ladies words but she kept her silence letting her husband perform his duties as the head of the house. She could defend herself but why do that when her knight sat beside her.
Victor was so furious. His eyes twitched, his body vibrated. Who would dare talk to his wife in that manner in his presence?".
He rose to his feet and warned her sternly.
"Genevieve. First of all, you are not my mother and I am not your son, do not call me that. Secondly, I can take anything from you but you dare not talk to my wife or about my wife in that manner again. Your business in this house is to eat, sleep, and make yourself a bit comfortable, you have no business with my wife. My wife doesn't and never will pick up anybody's luggage. I don't even let her carry her own purse and you ask her to lift your luggage? Who gave you that right in my house? If you want anything done you call the domestic staffs, my wife doesn't work for you, she doesn't work for anyone. And mind you, around here we speak to every staff with respect everyone you see in this house is a part of my family and you dare not try to walk over anyone. If you need your luggage to be taken into the room then you ask politely. If that's all do have a good night's rest".
Victor was so irritated and provoked he was boiling within himself. Even Zyra could swear she didn't believe her husband had that much words to speak in her defense. She stood to her feet and patted her husband's arm to calm him down.
Fear gripped Genevieve, she never expected him to react that way. She had known he was a tough guy but to the extent she knew him he would never be this fierce towards her. The girls standing behind her froze in fear.
"Ma'am please come with me, I'll show you your room". Joey spoke respectfully.
"And who's going to take up all of this?". She yelled at Zoey.
"With all due respect ma'am. Taking up your luggage isn't part of my job. My job is to manage the affairs of the house. If you want someone to take up your luggage, they're other staff's for that you'll have to request them".
Genevieve looked over at Victor who's expression was sour, his eyes thick red. She dared not anger him again.
"I'd rather let a vehicle hit me than plead any of you peasants". She spoke between her teeth and she lifted her luggage up herself.
Throughout the night, Victor continued to apologize to his wife, for Genevieve's behavior even though she tried to convince him that it was ok.
