As she was escorted into the bathroom to have her bath by the new nurse whom the doctor had recommended, the people Victor had hired to change the decor of the room stepped in. He had done a bit of work in the bathroom before she stepped in, without her knowledge.
He had prepared a warm, healing bath sprinkled with rare water lilies that he had to place orders for the previous night, scented oils, and candle lights. As Zyra stepped in she couldn't prevent herself from smiling happily. She was impressed with her husband's attempts to make her happy.
As she stepped out of the bathroom into the room, calm romantic music played by a violin filled the air. The beautiful fragrance from the lilies in the glass pond was too good to miss. Her eyes glimmered as she stared at her husband, who stood by the side of the bed where a long, decorated jar holding lilies also sat on the table beside him. The bedding had been changed. The sheets were made of Egyptian silk, while the blanket was designer cashmere, which would provide her warmth in comfort.
She walked over to her husband smiling as she hugged him.
"You didn't have to do all this".
"I'd buy the whole world if it makes you happy, my love".
Zyra smiled lightly as he assisted her to sit on the bed before sitting beside her.
"I know your love for water lilies and I know the bouquet I brought you yesterday would die quickly because lilies need their water the way I need you. So I decided to bring in the lilies and their water, so every morning you wake up to its purity, you'll remember that I'll always love you and I'm nothing without you".
Tears welled up in her eyes again as she listened to her husband speak, but this time she didn't let them drop; she struggled with it. He brought out a little designer box and opened it revealing a diamond bracelet with the inscription "VEE'S FOREVER" on it. Zyra could no longer hold back her tears, she let them flow down her cheeks freely. She could only be vulnerable around her husband and he never ceased to surprise her with the things he was capable of.
He fixed the bracelet around her wrist, placing a gentle kiss on her wrist before wiping off the tears on her face and placing an even more protective kiss on her forehead.
"You have to rest". He spoke very calmly.
She had taken the broth and her medication before going to have her bath, and according to the doctor's timetable, rest was what she was supposed to be doing now.
"I will as long as I can hear your heartbeat".
Victor lay down beside her, and she rested her head on his chest as the soft music from the violin continued. The nurse couldn't help but admire the love the couple shared before stepping out and shutting the door behind her to give them some privacy.
After a few more days of medicines, exercises, and romantic gestures, Zyra slowly began to feel stronger. At least she could walk on her own two feet steadily without anyone's support.
That night the couple sat in their room and finally had the discussion she had been dying to have with her husband.
"My love, are you feeling better now?".
"Yes Vee. Thanks for all you did".
"I will do more than that for you".
The couple shared the serenity in their silence before Victor finally asked.
"Who was she?".
"Who?". She asked without thinking.
"The girl you saw when you called that night".
Zyra suddenly sat up, her breathing heavy.
"What did you see? What happened in the dream this time?".
"I was carried by the same river again. I sank deeper and deeper but this time I didn't get out. As I hit the bottom of the water, I began to struggle for oxygen, and I wanted to get out, but my feet were stuck to the ground. I struggled and struggled to get out until I stopped struggling. I stopped holding my breath cause I couldn't anymore. I was sure I was going to die, but I didn't, I could breathe in water. While I was still trying to understand what was going on, and a thousand thoughts swamped my head, the calm humming music continued louder than the first time I fell in, and I felt a tap on my back. As I turned around there she was, her eyes glowed like mine. The only difference was that her eyes shone blue, not silver like mine, and she had a tale and a sharp smile that jerked me back to reality".
"She was a siren?". He asked a rhetorical question in shock.
"Yeah. What if I…". She answered subconsciously and spoke with worry written all over her face.
"You're not. Do those things even exist?".
"Just what if?". She spoke in a low voice staring into her husband's eyes as if searching for answers.
"Whether you are or not, you'll still belong to me forever". He spoke, stroking her hair.
Zyra felt a bit calm and relaxed knowing that her husband would never stop loving her regardless. Although she knew she wanted affirmation from him.
"We need to visit your hometown. If it's a sign, we need to know what sign it is and why this siren keeps haunting your dreams".
"But how can we leave Genevieve and her minions?".
"Don't worry let me handle that. I'll call Joey to help you pack we're leaving tonight".
"Alright".
Victor got down the stairs only to find Genevieve and her minions watching a show and laughing out loud as they muched on popcorn loudly. Such a lousy group of ladies.
He walked into the sitting room and they immediately rose to their feets, rearranging themselves in his presence. He looked over at the TV and back at them shaking his head in disgust.
"Victor, what brings you here?".
"Where? My house or my sitting room?".
"Oh come on. You know what I mean. I mean you're always around your wife like a bee around a honey comb".
"Mmm. Do you have a problem with a husband being around his wife?".
"That's not what mom means brother. She means you barely have time for us". Hazel defended her mother.
"Yes sir it's true. I'd have really loved to know you better…". Victor's eyes narrowed as he looked in her direction and she quickly changed her words. "I mean, know more about Mr Hale". Sofie struggled with words.
Victor looked deeply at each of them, his eyes piercing through their souls.
"The only things I have space for in my life are my wife and my business. Every other thing comes as tag alongs".
The three ladies just stood there staring at him in silence.
"Anyways, the reason I came downstairs was to inform you that I and my wife would be paying a visit to her home town. You have two options, one you pack your bags and come with us or two you pack your bags and go home. Either way you have to pack your bags and I suggest you start doing it now because we're leaving by evening". After speaking he walked off not giving them the luxury of even replying to him.
Joey helped Zyra pack her things and by 7pm they were ready to leave. As they got downstairs, they met the three ladies bags in their hands waiting for them to go. So they were going with them after all, Zyra looked at her husband.
"Sir, the mansion has been cleaned and prepared, do you?". Drew, who just got off his phone, informed his boss.
"We're staying at my parents?". Zyra asked joyfully.
"No my love. We're staying at my Veyron's. I got information that your father's house has been occupied".
"By who?". Zyra was agitated. She could feel her guts boiling inside of her.
"George Castillo and his family".
The anger inside of her tripled hearing that name. Noel's brother. She clenched her fist, rage evident in her eyes as she gnashed her teeth.
"My love, you need to calm down. We'll fight this but a step at a time". He spoke gently to calm her down.
"No one takes what belongs to my family".
"Never". He supported his wife.
She breathed down gently, trying to calm herself. He always knew ways to get to her.
"Drew, is my flight ready?".
"Yes sir".
The staff picked up their luggage and escorted them out. The family went on board. Joey was in charge of maintaining the house until they returned
