Minutes turned into hours, hours into days, days into months and Zyra still hadn't returned. Victor had become a cold man, shutting the world out. He became aggressive and empty. A part of him had gone missing for so long and he couldn't do anything about it.
He sat in the study working on some documents.
"Sir, sir, sir…". The housekeeper ran in breathless.
"If you have nothing valuable to say please get out". Victor spoke coldly.
"I'm sorry sir. Madam has returned". He finally spoke.
Victor immediately stopped what he was working on and turned to the housekeeper.
"You better not be playing games with me". He spoke sternly.
"I swear, sir, she is here with her water sisters".
Victor immediately pushed him aside since he was standing in his way and ran out of the study.
As they stepped into the mansion, jaws dropped, eyes widened. They're skin glowed like fresh water, the fragrance from their skin filled the air, their bodies were captivating, causing men and even women to lust over them. They carried the Aura of power, respect, authority, and fear. They walked like deities gracing the room with their presence.
Genevieve and her minions had thrown a party in the mansion since Victor let them do whatever they wanted to get them off his neck. Genevieve couldn't believe her eyes. Was this the same Zyra she knew, or was it a different person? Even most of the guests found it very difficult to recognize Mrs Hale until Victor ran down the stairs, freezing in shock.
His wife was different, ten times more beautiful than she had been before; her eyes maintained their silver form, not the regular grey they had been when her psychic form wasn't manifest. The silver in her eyes was dim, matching the black and grey mixture of her hair. The difference in her eyes wasn't visible except to people who would pay close attention.
Her brown skin glowed like fresh, hot-baked chocolate, spotless and very near perfection. Victor stood in shock, his lips parted, and tears welled up in his eyes. He had so much pride in the looks of his wife before now and now that he was looking at her, he had even more reason to be proud. Zyra was so glad to see her husband after so many months she smiled at him and called out.
"Mr Hale, won't you come get your wife?".
Victor ran to her, lifting her in his arms, the couple was so happy to see each other. Victor, who had refused to come down for the party, had suddenly come down hearing of his wife's arrival.
He held her up, sitting in his arms, and the couple shared a passionate and very hungry kiss.
"Argh, you guys get a room". Thalindra spoke stepping forward to the desert table. Everyone moved as she approached, she usually liked the fear that came with her presence.
Victor put his wife down but he refused to release her arm.
"Oh my God, I've missed you". He whispered loud enough for Zyra to hear.
She licked her lower lip and bit down on it. Before grazing her thumb on her husband's cheeks, she wiped off the teardrop that had fallen unconsciously.
"Is my knight in tears". She whispered equally as loud.
Victor smiled before turning to the crowd.
"Everyone get out. The party is over". His voice was calm but commanding.
The guest lingered a bit longer and it got Victor pissed.
"I said get out, all of you". He yelled, and the party guests immediately scattered, fearing the wrath of Mr Hale. They immediately started running out.
"Vincent, get the staff to clean up. My wife is back, get the house in order".
As the staff got to work, Thalindra sat on one of the sofas while Nerina also made herself comfortable.
"We have a lot to talk about". Zyra spoke to her husband who still stood beside her.
"Come on, sit. Why don't we talk about it after dinner?".
"Ok".
"What would you guys like to have for dinner?".
"Ouuu, I'll go first. I want live shrimps, little jellyfishes, and… her for dessert". She spoke, pointing at Genevieve for dessert and licking her index finger with the tip of her tongue, biting down on her nail at the end, while she smirked at her. Genevieve swallowed hard in fear she could recall vividly her last encounter with Thalindra.
"Come on, Thalindra, don't scare the old lady". Nerina finally spoke.
"No raw food on land. You'll have to eat human food".
"Awff, ok. This didn't taste bad". Thalindra rolled her eyes referring to the cupcake she had taken from the dessert table.
"Vee, why don't you do us the honor and pick dinner tonight".
"Sure??".
"Yeah".
"I know just what you need and I'll make it myself". Zyra smiled, she already knew what her husband was going to make, and she loved it every time he made it.
"How I've missed your meal". The couple stared at each other as if trying to apologize for all the months they've spent apart.
"Enough with the Lovie Dovie, I'm starving". Thalindra spoke.
"Ok, I'll make dinner". Victor excused himself and left.
Genevieve and her minions sat staring at the sisters. Inasmuch as they wanted to taunt Zyra, they weren't sure what she had become, and this Thalindra sitting beside them was a threat to their lives.
"Aunty, won't you tell her?" Sofie whispered.
"Shut up. How do you expect me to tell her when these sisters of hers are here?". Genevieve scolded her still in whispers.
"You want to dig your own grave Sofie?". Hazel joined in the whisper.
"Tell me what?". Zyra asked coldly making the three of them jerk in fear.
"There is no point whispering in front of sirens we can hear even the things in your mind". Thalindra exaggerated, speaking irritated by the three.
"Nothing. Can't I have a conversation with my kids without being interrupted by your show of power?". Genevieve spoke, trying to be bold without meeting Thalindra's eyes.
Zyra lifted a shoulder unbothered.
As they sat for dinner everyone enjoyed the meal.
"Ahh, finally cooked food". Zyra spoke subconsciously.
"What did you eat underwater?". Hazel asked.
"Oh, trust me, you don't want to know".
Sofie suddenly felt the urge to throw up.
"What's wrong with her?". Zyra asked puzzled.
"It must be the baby". Genevieve spoke so confidently.
Everyone suddenly stopped their dinner in shock. Victor rolled his eyes and folded his hand in a fist.
"What baby?". Zyra asked even more confused.
"Sofie is pregnant and your husband is responsible for it". Genevieve spat out her words like venom.
Zyra and her sisters were shocked; they widened their eyes in disbelief and turned to Victor, who had his head bowed. His eyes didn't meet any of theirs as he remained silent.
"He got intoxicated and he forced himself on her. He didn't know what he had done until he woke up. My poor Sofie". Genevieve continued to speak and Zyra grew angrier by the minute.
"How could he have done that to her? Sofie only took him as her brother, he…". Genevieve began to play the pity game.
"Shut up. What was your beloved Sofie doing around my husband?". Zyra yelled rising to her feet and hitting her palms against the table. Her scream, tumoring the waves as they hit against the shore hard, everyone turned in the direction of the water. The table vibrated and a sudden wind seemed to have passed by them.
The entire house fell silent, and she hurried off upstairs, leaving her food unfinished. Victor was also pissed at Genevieve and her crew for ruining the dinner but he had to speak to his wife immediately. He hurried off after her while Thalindra and Nerina sat still watching the whole drama.
The night grew dark, a certain kind of dark that over shadowed the moon's light. Thunder sounded loudly, and lightning struck the ground hard. Everyone was frightened, only Thalindra and Nerina understood what was going on, and they were worried. They knew how much her rage would eat her up, but they also knew she had every right to get upset, the man she'd given her entire life to, and all of a sudden this, and unlike Mr Hale, he remained quiet. What message was his silence passing?
Malrik suddenly ran into the house communicating with Thalindra and Nerina in sign language.
"The waters have become very violent. Every other creature is bursting with blood, all of the water is turning into blood, its concentration is too much for the rest of the sirens, they're taking to shore, but the moonlight is barely out".
Thalindra and Nerina wore worry on their faces.
"Her powers. It's… massive". Nerina spoke still worried.
"We can't calm her now, but we have to save the people". Thalindra spoke like a real warrior.
"We have to unlock it". They both spoke in unison after some time running off into the storm followed by Malrik
