Inside the car, besides the driver and the subordinate operating the Gatling gun, the back seat was piled high with bullets! Despite this, the bullets were visibly decreasing at an alarming rate!
This kind of consumption was not without effect; on the contrary, the effect was outstanding. A "storm of metal," that was the standard for a Gatling gun. A storm of deadly metal!
Under this threat, the police who had just rushed in immediately retreated without hesitation. Who could stand up to this?
They might as well bring a tank!
They were all just trying to make a living; who would willingly go to their deaths?
These police officers weren't unaware of what they were protecting in this station. It was the money of that big drug lord, Reyes!
It wasn't theirs! In this situation, facing such a terrifying weapon, rushing forward was certain death.
Would they still go?
Of course not!
The group of people retreated at almost twice the speed they had arrived.
Some of the smarter ones even took off their police uniforms and started to run away.
They were not willing to die for a drug lord's money; this job was not worth it!
On the other side, Reyes had naturally noticed the big commotion. Led by a police officer, he quickly headed for the records room.
That money was his lifeblood; he had to make sure nothing happened to it!
Here, Toretto and O'Conner, who had firmly attached the steel cables to the safe, were back in their respective cars. They closed the doors, buckled their seat belts, started their cars, and gradually ramped up to the maximum horsepower, flooring the gas pedal.
The tires spun furiously on the ground, and white smoke gradually spread out.
Sometimes, people fall into strange misconceptions. For example, a guard might assume that since a door is impossible or extremely difficult to open, they can be carefree. However, the wall isn't the most secure part!
The most awkward thing is building the world's most indestructible door and then installing it on a mud wall.
That was exactly what was happening here. The safe was very sturdy, heat-resistant, and difficult to open, but it was only simply fixed into the concrete wall.
And then... Toretto and O'Conner's cars successfully pulled the safe out of the wall. Morin's subordinate, driving the armored car, led the way, and together, they charged out!
Reyes arrived at the records room just in time to see his money, the huge safe containing one hundred million dollars, being pulled away in its entirety. Reyes was stunned. That was his money, his life!
"Chase them! Quickly, call everyone to chase them!" Reyes reacted and yelled, jumping up and down.
"Go, go, go chase them!" The police chief immediately gave the order. However, very few police officers listened to him.
Those who hadn't faced that kind of weapon couldn't imagine the terror of it, the inherent human fear when facing death.
They would rather be fired, rather be retaliated against, than to die!
The only ones who actually gave chase were some of Reyes's men and a few other police officers who were just half-assing it, pretending to try hard, but in reality, their distance from Toretto's crew was continuously increasing.
One has to admit, this also required skill; it was called "acting"! There was no helping it.
A Gatling gun and an armored car in a city like this, against a group of police armed with handguns and, at most, shotguns, the threat level was outrageously high!
"Looks like my job is pretty easy," Morin typed a few keys on his keyboard. Instantly, all the traffic lights in the city changed colors according to Morin's pre-set plan and remained that way.
"Everyone, follow the pre-planned route and original plan. If there are any unexpected situations, be sure to communicate in time."
"The whole city is cooperating with you, guys," Morin laughed. "Is there a better racetrack than this?"
"I don't think so. Thanks, Morin," Toretto said with a grin.
Controlling the traffic lights couldn't stop Reyes's men or the police, but it could stop the civilians. And this meant Morin could control the flow of people, allowing, clearing, or blocking them.
For example, after Toretto and O'Conner drove past an intersection dragging the huge safe, the traffic lights would change.
When the police and Reyes's men chased them, they would be cut off by the suddenly moving traffic!
They didn't care about crashing into civilians' cars, but their own cars hadn't been modified. At this speed and in this dense traffic, they could only stop or choose a detour!
However, for Morin, who controlled the city's entire traffic network, what was the difficulty in changing the traffic lights elsewhere, controlling their routes, and completely blocking them off?
Although other police and Reyes's men scattered throughout the city also tried to surround them, most of them were intercepted by Morin's traffic control.
As for the few lucky ones who got through... if the "car gods" could be defeated by a few small fries, they wouldn't be called car gods.
Along the way, Toretto and O'Conner barely encountered any pursuers, and the few they did meet were easily dealt with!
O'Conner even found it a bit absurd because it wasn't a death race at all. It was truly, as Morin had said, a race where the whole city was cooperating with them!
"This is just insane!" Roman covered his face, unable to believe it. "Is this really a robbery? I think we're on a road trip!"
"This is the kind of thing he can do," Gisele smiled. "He's a fascinating man."
"Thanks for the compliment," Morin tapped his desk. "I heard that."
"Controlling the traffic, this move is simply unbeatable," Toretto said, shaking his head.
And so, a bizarre thing happened. The city seemed to have become a ghost town, at least on Toretto's route.
After dealing with the few small-fry pursuers, they arrived at a dark underpass of a planned overpass, where they performed a little switcheroo.
Toretto and O'Conner drove their cars on either side, and the safe in the middle, using a slanted thick iron plate as a ramp, went directly into the back of a truck.
On either side of the truck, the Spanish duo nimbly unhooked the steel cables from the safe and then attached them to the fake safe at the front of the truck, which was then pulled away by Toretto and O'Conner.
They then closed the back of the truck, got into the cabin, and Gisele, who was driving the truck, headed off to another pre-arranged location!
At the same time, Morin lifted the traffic controls and deleted all traces he had left behind. Reyes, who had driven out in pursuit, barely made it in time to see his safe fly into the river.
"Quick, get people to fish it out!" Reyes roared furiously. "Hurry!!!"
