Chapter 14 - Electric Lights

To prevent the lower world from being ruined, they sealed their divine power and experienced life like ordinary people.

If they found out about other worlds they could enjoy without sealing their divine power, they would go insane and rush to get to them.

At that point, not even the Loki Familia could stand against the Familias of all of Orario.

"Don't worry, Lady Loki, I'm not a blabbermouth." Emiya said calmly.

Seeing that Emiya had truly taken her words to heart, Loki breathed a sigh of relief. However, a deep curiosity soon followed.

"Emiya boy, can you tell me what kind of world you're from?"

Emiya didn't hide anything and answered forthrightly, "I'm from a world with no magic and no gods."

"A world with no magic and no gods? Such a world exists?" From Loki's perspective, a world without gods was simply unimaginable.

"That's right."

"Then the people in your world must live very hard lives," Loki said with a look of pity.

Emiya felt his world was being underestimated. "If you're interested, Lady Loki, why don't you come with me and see my world? It'll definitely surprise you."

Loki thought about it and didn't refuse. On the contrary, she was very interested in Emiya's world—an alternate world with no gods.

She agreed right away. "Okay, but I need to inform Riveria first."

"Alright."

So, the two of them called Riveria in from the doorway. "Riveria, I'm going to take a look at Emiya boy's hometown. You and Finn can handle things in the Loki Familia."

Riveria was startled. "Now? Why so sudden? Did something happen in Emiya's hometown? Should I prepare a carriage and food?"

Loki waved her hand. "Don't worry, Emiya boy has a skill that can take me to his hometown instantly. Don't prepare anything. I'll be back soon."

Riveria couldn't help but look at Emiya. She had always thought he was from the far east, which wasn't close to the labyrinth city.

What kind of skill could instantly take them from the labyrinth city to the far east? Was it a space-time magic?

While Riveria was still guessing, Emiya turned to Loki, who nodded to show she was ready. Emiya snapped his fingers, and with a flash, he took Loki and traversed worlds.

The next second, the two of them were back in Emiya's room in the real world, appearing in the living room.

"So this is your world. It doesn't seem as backward as I imagined," Loki said, looking around. She could recognize some of the furniture but more she couldn't.

"Of course not. Even though our world has no gods, humans have worked hard to build a glorious civilization." Emiya said with pride.

"No offense, Lady Loki, but while Orario is prosperous, it's more than a little behind compared to the cities in my world."

Loki's eyebrows went up, and her eyes grew even brighter. "Is that true, Emiya boy?"

"If you don't believe me, I can take you to see it. But before that, can you cast an invisibility spell?" Emiya asked, testing her.

Loki nodded. "No problem."

Although the gods who descended to the lower world had sealed their divine power, the seal wasn't placed by anyone else; it was self-imposed.

A god could break the seal at any time if they were in danger. Besides, this world wasn't Orario, so she didn't need to follow that rule.

Loki's mind stirred, the seal was released, and her long-absent divine power surged through her body like a tidal wave.

Loki couldn't help but let out a moan of pleasure. She had been in the human world for decades, and this was the first time she had reclaimed her divine power.

The feeling was long overdue.

"An invisibility spell, right." Loki raised her hand, and Emiya immediately felt an invisible force wrap around his body.

Although he could still see himself and Loki clearly, in the full-length mirror in the living room, they were nowhere to be seen. The mirror didn't reflect their figures.

Emiya nodded with satisfaction. He opened the window with his telekinesis.

"Okay, let's go, Lady Loki." With that, Emiya used his telekinesis to lift himself, passed through the window, and flew outside.

His telekinesis could lift 10 tons of cargo, so lifting himself was a piece of cake. As for Loki, she was a goddess, and flying was a basic ability for her.

The two of them passed through the window, one after the other, and flew hundreds of meters into the sky.

From this high up, the entire modern city was revealed to them. Since it was night in the real world, they could see a city lit up with lights.

The wide, neat streets, illuminated by streetlights, looked like bright, long dragons. The high-rises, one after another, emitted the glow of ten thousand lights, beautiful and bright.

The continuous flow of cars, the bustling crowds, the brightly lit streets, and the steel jungle of concrete and cement showed off the beauty of modern civilization under countless lights.

Even Loki, who was used to grand spectacles, was a little lost in her thoughts when she first saw a modern city.

"I didn't expect the cities in your world to be so beautiful. It's not as good as Orario, but it's very impressive."

Emiya replied, "Lady Loki, this is just my hometown, a third-tier city. It's nothing compared to our international metropolises."

"A third-tier city?" Loki was even more surprised. If a third-tier city was this impressive, how amazing must the international metropolises Emiya mentioned be?

Emiya encouraged her, "Lady Loki, I'll guide you, and you can fly me. I'll take you to see a true international metropolis—the most prosperous city of modern civilization."

Loki, of course, wouldn't refuse. She readily agreed. "Okay!"

"This way!"

Emiya pointed in a direction, Loki wrapped him in her divine power, and the two of them vanished instantly.

Then, a low boom echoed as a circle of white smoke spread. Loki had broken the sound barrier and was now flying at supersonic speed.

For a goddess who had lived for hundreds of millions of years, this was nothing.

After flying at supersonic speed for less than half an hour, they arrived at one of the top cities in the country—the Magic City!

The two of them hovered high above the city. Looking down, the lights on both sides of the Huangpu River were dazzling and intertwined, making the night scene even more beautiful.

Besides Lujiazui and the Bund, the Magic City had many other beautiful night views. The twinkling lights of the skyscrapers looked like stars in the night sky, and the endless stream of cars on the elevated roads was mesmerizing.

Emiya proudly introduced it to Loki.

"Lady Loki, this city is one of the most developed in our country and one of the top cities in the world. It might not be in the top three, but it's definitely in the top five. More than 20 million people live in this city, and its prosperity is something ten Orarios couldn't match."

Loki admitted that what Emiya said was true.

Because of the dungeon, Orario attracted many adventurers and Familias from all over the continent, and its prosperity was second to none in the entire world.

But even so, did Orario's population exceed one million? Compared to a city with more than 20 million people, Orario was indeed very backward.

More importantly, this world had no gods. The city was built entirely by human hands, little by little.

"Amazing, truly amazing," Loki said with a smile, praising them. Emiya proudly puffed out his chest.

Just then, Loki flew down toward the ground. Emiya immediately understood her intention and quickly said, "Lady Loki, we should find a place with no people to land."

"Why?"

"Because the city has something called 'cameras' that monitor the entire city. If we appear on the street brazenly, it will cause unnecessary panic and ruin your mood for shopping."

"Alright," Loki nodded, finding a deserted place to land.

After lifting the invisibility spell, she and Emiya left the dark corner and entered the bustling street.

Emiya had never been to the Magic City before, but that didn't matter. They were here to witness its prosperity, so they just had to walk toward wherever there were a lot of people.

"Hey, Emiya boy, what are those glowing things? They can't be magic stone lamps, can they?"

The so-called "magic stone lamps" were a lighting source invented in the DanMachi world using magic stone technology.

Even the gods had praised them, and they were considered one of the greatest inventions of the DanMachi world.

"That's right, they aren't magic stone lamps. They're electric lights. Just like the magic stone lamps, they are one of the greatest inventions of our world and proof that humans have conquered the night," Emiya said.

As Loki walked down the street, she subconsciously narrowed her eyes. "Emiya boy, did you just say 'electricity'? Is it the electricity I'm thinking of?"

"Exactly. The electricity from lightning," Emiya said.

"People in our world have figured out the nature of lightning. We have controlled and tamed it, using its power to invent electric lights, bringing light to countless homes. You could say electricity is the foundation of our human civilization."

Loki laughed heartily upon hearing this. "I see. Tamed lightning, you say? I bet that Thor guy would be surprised if he knew about this."
