Chapter 29 - First Battle

Emiya was a bit surprised. There were a lot of clerks at the windows, but he hadn't expected to meet her.

Perhaps because Emiya was not the protagonist and didn't have a cute face,Eina didn't give him special attention. She just registered him in a business-like manner, then gave Emiya a few words of advice with a formal smile.

Afterward, she sent him on his way.

Emiya nodded and left the Adventurer's Guild with Tiona, heading for the dungeon.

From the first floor, which was directly connected to the surface, the dungeon had the standard labyrinth structure.

As you went deeper into the dungeon, the environment would become more and more complex.

From forests to lakes, from fields to desolate lands, the deeper floors of the dungeon had all kinds of environments, creating a small, unimaginable world underground.

The deeper you went, the more obvious these changes in the natural environment became.

Of course, none of this mattered to Emiya.

Since this was his first time entering the dungeon, Tiona would not take Emiya into the deeper parts. At most, they would stay in the first ten floors.

And the first ten floors had a standard labyrinth structure.

The walls and floors were made of stone bricks, forming corridors. The monsters that appeared here were mostly Kobolds and Goblins.

Emiya was not unfamiliar with Goblins, as they appeared in many fantasy worlds.

In the world of Goblin Slayer, the Goblins' threat was at an all-time high.

But Kobolds were a bit more uncommon.

The Kobolds in the Danmachi world looked like wolves, but they could walk upright. Their attack speed was not slow, and more importantly, they appeared in groups.

Of course, not just Kobolds, but even Goblins appeared in groups.

So very few people would enter the dungeon alone. The dungeon was full of dangers, and if you were to encounter a group of monsters, a level one adventurer would have a hard time surviving.

The reason why the protagonist Bell dared to enter the dungeon alone and survive was because Zeus, who had raised him, had given him a good foundation when he was very young.

Even if you don't count anything else, his speed was definitely top-notch.

Otherwise, his nickname in the future wouldn't be "The Fastest Rabbit in the World."

...

After Emiya and Tiona entered the dungeon, they saw light blue walls and ceilings.

The endless, natural labyrinth that seemed to have no sky stretched in every direction. There were branching paths, crossroads, and gentle slopes. This underground space was neatly organized with certain intervals.

And in this space, Emiya soon had his first battle.

The opponent was the Kobolds.

Eight Kobolds appeared from a crossroad. When they saw Emiya and Tiona, they immediately rushed over. They made grunting noises, and their eyes shone with a cruel and ruthless light.

Tiona immediately took a few steps back and waved her arms. "Go, newbie-kun! Don't lose to these weaklings!"

To be honest, Emiya was a bit nervous.

He wasn't a bad kid. Since he was a child, Emiya had only been in a few fights, which he could count on one hand. So Emiya was not good at this kind of situation.

When he was a child, Emiya would get nervous every time he got into a fight.

Now that he was an adult, he wasn't nervous anymore, but he also didn't get into fights anymore.

But this time, Emiya was in the dungeon, fighting monsters, so he was a bit nervous for the first time in a while.

But luckily, he had Tiona by his side, and he could also travel between worlds and escape danger. So even though Emiya was nervous, he was not panicked.

But just to be safe, Emiya created four psychic hands before the Kobolds got to him.

Then, when the Kobolds were still 20 meters away, Emiya controlled the psychic hands to fly over. He punched them one by one, sending the approaching Kobolds flying.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Emiya's first wave of attacks sent four Kobolds flying. The remaining Kobolds were stunned when they saw their comrades flying backward and hesitated.

Emiya was happy about this. He took the opportunity and controlled the four psychic hands to move back and forth.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

The remaining Kobolds were all sent flying by Emiya's psychic hands.

However, because this wave of attacks was a bit conservative, Emiya didn't use too much force, so the Kobolds were only sent flying and not killed.

The Kobolds quickly got back up and stared at Emiya, making grunting noises. But they didn't attack immediately. It seemed they were stunned by Emiya's attacks and were hesitant to move forward.

These monsters didn't have much intelligence, but they knew how to be afraid.

The main reason was that Emiya's attacks were invisible, which caused the monsters to hesitate.

Emiya didn't let this opportunity pass. He took a deep breath, and his psychic power turned into bullets, which he shot out.

Psychic bullets!

This was a small trick Emiya had developed not long after he got his psychic power. The power was not bad. And since Emiya was aiming for the Kobolds' eyes, it had a very good effect.

The psychic bullets went right through the Kobolds' eyes, piercing their brains and flying out of the back of their heads, bringing with them a spray of blood.

The Kobolds fell to the ground, dead.

Emiya was relieved to see this.

Tiona walked over and patted Emiya on the back. "Nice job, newbie-kun!"

Generally, a newbie who had just entered the dungeon would be flustered when they encountered this kind of situation. She saw that Emiya looked nervous and thought he might not be able to use his full strength, so she was ready to help him if he got into trouble.

She didn't expect Emiya to kill more than ten Kobolds all by himself.

A regular newbie couldn't do this. That psychic power skill was indeed cheap.

Tiona took out a small knife and handed it to Emiya. "Go and get the magic stones. They're in the middle of their chests."

Emiya shook his head. "No need."

Then, he used his psychic hand to cut open the Kobolds' chests and took out a small fragment that glowed with a blue-purple light.

This was a magic stone, a magical crystal obtained from a monster. The crystal contained an incredible power. As long as you took it to the Guild, you could exchange it for money.

The humans in the Danmachi world used magic stones as a source of energy and invented all kinds of products, such as magic stone lanterns for lighting, freezers for preserving food, and so on. Therefore, they were considered a valuable resource.

The magic stone in Emiya's hand was technically a magic stone fragment.

After all, this was only the first floor of the dungeon, and Kobolds were the weakest monsters, so they couldn't possibly provide a complete magic stone.
