Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Maverick World

The moment I had recognized my identity, I could feel the world as if it was my own creation. There was an interest to go out and explore everything. I exited my house along with Geron and parted ways at the doorstep outside. There were plains, mountains, puddles, farms and a clear morning sky. I ran across the fields and saw cows and horses grazing, butterflies swarming over flower fields.

It went as such for about half an hour, but then sudden storm clouds appeared. I quickly ran towards my house. I was very far away and the plains didn't seem to end even as I was running.

Sounds of thunder and rain shattered through my ears and as I looked up I could see a glimpse of lightning falling towards me. My instincts forced me to close my eyes as I saw unimagined death falling right towards me. Everything went blank and my senses shut off, I was on the verge of getting unconscious. I thought, is this the end of my life? Am I really dying such a stupid death?

Before I could form another negative thought, I felt the lack of pain and tremble in my body as if the lightning didn't strike me. I opened my eyes and I saw a magical field surrounding my body, as soon as I could be relieved, another lightning strike fell towards the ground and it curved in it's path as it blitzed towards me. I was saved by an unknown person standing far away beneath a tree. A wooden staff with a curve on the top forming a joint of three similar cones. The person wore a masked hood in a dark royal blue color. Flashy designer shoes and a leather brown coat.

As the weather worsened, I waved my hand towards the person, inviting them to run towards a safe place. In a blink I was held by my collar and dragged towards my house at insane speed, as if it was thrice the speed of a galloping white horse. A sudden brake in my speed which my body couldn't process and as I saw my doorstep, I fell to the ground. It was none other than magic. The person was a magic user.

I looked up and saw a face covered by an azure mask, I saw bright greenish-blue eyes, the eyes of a woman. I was saved by a woman whom I didn't know.

"Are you stupid? Who stands in the middle of a thunderstorm waiting to die?" I was asked arrogantly. Too stunned to speak, I hesitated for longer than I should've.

"Actually I-" and I was cut off in between by "Whatever reason you have, do not mention about me to anyone. You didn't see a tall woman in a brown coat. I know this is your house and I'll murder you before you can think of running away if you snitch on me."

"Was that magic? How did you deflect the thunder and move so fast?" I asked with a certainty.

"Are you stupid? How else am I supposed to run at insane speeds and create deflection shields? Do you even live in this world?" It was a fury of questions each piercing my heart with the same idea, that it was common sense.

"I've never been outside my home till today, I just woke up from a long sleep. I have no memories of past and present. I can speak and I have basic knowledge, except the simple human requirements, I've forgotten everything, or may be I didn't even start remembering things in the first place." I said, expecting to lead the conversation into learning magic.

"Blehhh, what a sad backstory you have. You expect people to believe that? Fine, I'll agree, seeing how you were attempting a suicide back there. I don't wanna catch a cold in this weather so could you just open the door first?" She said while pointing towards the doorknob, it appeared as if she was exhausted from using too much magic in a short time period.

I opened the door and entered first, looking around for the first time, I had no idea about the rooms in my house. I didn't know where the kitchen was. I felt hungry and looked for the kitchen, completely forgetting that I don't know how to cook. It felt so awkward asking a guest to cook, but I did anyways.

"I wonder if you can teach me how to cook" I said, completely fooling her into cooking for both of us.

Although it was a trick for getting food without cooking, I learned basic kitchen skills and how to make a stew.
