Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 : The Crash ( Rewrite )

in a distant world filled with unknown flora and fauna, a world untouched by any technological being, and there is no life other than animal.

a world where there is no human at all, just animal and plants. but one day, it all changed. all the birds started to flap their wings hard, like an apocalypse was coming. all the bugs started to hide in unknown how many holes in the ground. some animals all ran away from a single place, and near it all, in a cave, countless bats started to wake up only to be met with a feeling of dread and panic. screeching all over the bat cave as many of the bats fled in chaos. some died because of hitting each other, some even died because of falling and getting squashed into paste by the rampaging, fleeing animals. but in the midst of all of this chaos, a single bat just stayed still, not because it was sentient or anything, but because it was weak... as it was just a fledgling bat, and it could not even fly at all. so in the midst of chaos, it was left behind. it could even see some newborn baby bats dead as they were accidentally dropped by their mothers, and some the same as it, still in fledgling stage or even still in growth or infant stage..... all were left behind.

it tried to fly but kept failing, but it didn't stop, as it was do or die. in the end, it could do it... it could fly. but it was too late. as the fledgling bat slowly got out of the bat cave, it saw the source of chaos... a huge thing blocking the sun. as an animal, of course, it didn't know what it was. but if we zoomed out a bit, we could see it — a huge technological ship as big as a 2-story building crashing down on the planet. the bat was petrified, so scared, its intuition and will to survive ringing. if it could be put into words, its meaning was only one: "RUN." as it tried to fly, to fly out of here, out of all of this chaos, it was powerless. a fledgling bat could only do so much before falling down, exhausted.

as time passed, the bat could only see the huge thing getting closer and closer. but it was powerless, no more energy to fly, nothing at all. but miraculously, the ship started to slow down... even slowly descending. but still, it was not a good descent, more like an emergency landing.

finally, the ship crashed down, sending a huge shockwave across the surroundings. the original bat cave collapsed on itself, and the fledgling bat was sent flying away. some animals that could not escape earlier were also thrown away — some directly dead because of the force of impact, some still alive, barely in their last breath. but the fledgling bat was lucky. it was hiding behind a tree. even though the tree was blown away and uprooted, the impact the bat received was far less than the others there.

as the dust settled and the bat finally got its bearings again, it tried to fly away from the thing that had crashed just now..... but it couldn't. its wings were torn, it couldn't even fly again. at the same time, this big thing that crashed — there was a connection deep inside its blood. it was like something was calling, no, something was enticing it to go inside and check it out..... as an animal, of course, all of its instincts forbade it to go there. it was like a debate, but finally, the bat slowly crawled toward the giant ship.

it slowly went to the ship, crawling slowly but surely. even though it took an hour or so, it made it toward the ship. as it was trying to see where... where is this thing that excited it to go to the ship, it saw it..... in the side of the ship a huge chunk was missing. it was like being torn off by a huge hand. and inside the ship, full of metal remains of a corridor, and on the end of it, a room sealed and locked. but beside it was a small hole that was punctured as the ship crashed. and based on its instinct, it knew — there it is... inside of that small little hole, something its body wanted. so the fledgling bat slowly started to crawl. some time passed. it was so focused that it even disregarded the loud announcement from the ship, when usually a bat would get so stressed or irritated by a loud noise. but its mind now was clouded by the thought of this mysterious thing that enticed it. but if the bat knew what the announcement was, and if it were another living being and not an animal, maybe it would be shocked, as the announcement was this:

[ Warning ] [ Warning ] [ Warning ][ Sector 6 Hull Breach ][ Warning: Unknown life detected ][ Life identified ][ A Fledgling Desmodus rotundus detected inside Sector 6 Hull ][ Warning ] [ Warning ] [ Warning ][ Detecting a breach in Item X-001 Containment Cell ][ Contacting the Bridge for response ][ Contact Failed ][ Contacting nearest military personnel ][ No personnel sign of life detected ][ Contacting all available crew ][ No crew response ][ Detecting life signs of crew ][ 3 life detected ] [ 2 life in critical condition ] [ 1 life in serious condition ][ Warning: Desmodus rotundus nearing X-001 Containment Cell ][ No crew available or responding ][ Authorized Section 4 in New Law of Robot ][ Activate Internal Defense of Sector 6 ][ Activation Failed ] [ Activation Failed ][ Energy Breach Detected ][ Section 6 machinery inactive ][ Warning ] [ Warning ][ Reporting to HQ ][ Reporting Failed ] [ Communication Station Destroyed ][ Warning ] [ Warning ][ Desmodus rotundus has entered X-001 Containment Cell ]

there it was. the fledgling bat slowly crept its way toward the small hole, and it crawled through it. on the other side of that small hole, there it was.... a single tube hovering in midair, containing what we could only tell as blood — a single drop of blood. the fledgling bat slowly crawled and climbed so it could be near that blood. and before it could even drink the blood, its fangs were stopped by the hardness of the tube.

but it kept trying and trying. even its sharp teeth started to get dull, and it started to get painful. but the fledgling bat, like an uncontrollable truck that needed to push through anything, just kept going on and on. bite after bite, its teeth started to fall off one by one. its mouth started to bleed all over. but the fledgling bat wasn't feeling any pain. if teeth were not enough, it started to slam its mouth. and if still not enough, then it started to claw at it. and if still not enough, it even started to slam its head against the tube.

now the situation of the bat was so miserable. all its teeth were lost, its mouth was bleeding, its claws were torn off and bleeding, and its head started to deform and bleed. and all of this was for the drop of blood inside the tube... slowly the bat kept hitting and hitting its head, but it was to no avail. it started to grow weaker and weaker..... until it stopped. it lay there, head still smashing the tube, but no more..... as its head was almost broken from all of the hitting, it lay there no better than dead.

it was like a dead twig on the side of the road.... just lying there, helpless, almost dead... no, it could be said already half-dead, only the last remaining will to survive left. but all of it was overshadowed by the madness of wanting that drop of blood.... so the bat, one last time, raised its head and smashed it hard against the tube. and the bat was dead.... head crushed, blood all over its body. but what it didn't know was that last hit was a success... even though the crack was tiny, it was enough for the blood inside the tube.

the blood inside the tube started rampaging, swirling and swirling. it was like the blood was alive. and from the tiny — no, microscopic — crack that the fledgling bat created, it slowly seeped out and dropped onto the fledgling bat's head. as the blood slowly seeped out, it started to flow faster and faster. the whole room started to get hot, started to burn from the blood.

as the warnings erupted more and more, blood seeped out of the tube, falling onto the fledgling bat's head. the bat's body slowly became enveloped in a scarlet hue, and suddenly countless blood-red threads burst out of the fledgling bat's spine, surrounding its body as they began to form a cocoon. as the blood finished dripping from the tube, it started..... the new life was born from the dead bat corpse and a single drop of blood.

Then, as time passed, signs of new life began to stir within the blood cocoon. Its swollen form pulsed and swelled until it reached the size of a grown human. At last, after endless days, the cocoon split with a wet crack, and from its ruptured shell an arm slid free. Pale, trembling, slick with crimson ichor. The husk peeled apart, spilling a figure onto the steel floor — a boy of no more than sixteen, his skin translucent as moonlight on glass, his crimson eyes burning with a feral hunger that betrayed the innocence of his youthful face.
