Chapter 30 - Near The End

Phuture used her energy sphere to destroy the True Domain, arriving back on the battlefield in Virginia to a different scenery than before.

There skies were clear and light blue, it was warmer than usual for late December, and all the snow from the storm was completely melted away.

Terrance's voice caught their attention, he said. "I was beginning to worry! I'm happy the two of you are alive and well!"

Phuture rushed towards him and wrapped both arms around him, pulling him in tightly for a genuine hug.

Terrance hugged her back, he asked. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Phuture replied quickly with the quickest thing to come in mind. "So you defeated the ice demom?"

"Of course." Terrance smiled confidently, he stared at the wounded demon. "So he's a mixed guy."

"I was thinking...we should let him join us."

Hayze, Elmer, and Terrance all shot her a shocking facial expression. They couldn't believe she not only wanted to spare the racist demon, but requested to allow him to join The Demon Corps.

"Willie Lou is the leader...so that's for her to decide." Terrance replied while staring at the demon, he questioned the demon. "What's your name?"

The demon looked up to face Terrance, coming eye to eye with the Divine Lord. He could feel the same spiritual pressure that Phuture contained, giving him an anxiety from being much weaker.

"Hey!" Terrance shouted. "I heard you were real talkative, don't get quiet now!"

The Hoodied Demon remained mute.

Phuture interfered with the conversation, she said. "Give em a break...he just got his ass kicked."

"Ahuh." Terrance nodded. "Well...everyone get ready, we're gonna head back to the base in Beaufont."

The group of five returned to base unharmed, bringing along the demon in an shocking turn of events.

The Union soldiers wanted to lock him away and question him for information about The Confederacy, but ultimately everyone left the decision for Willie Lou to make.

If Willie Lou decided to follow Phuture's suggestion accept him into The Demon Corps, then it would spare him from the shame of The Union interrogations. But if she chose to deny the request, the demon could suffer the ramifications that many felt he deserved.

Phuture felt overwhelmingly outnumbered in terms of interest, noticing that most people wanted the demon killed or exiled.

She could've killed the demon inside his True Domain, but Harriet and Wangari noticed her hesitation in doing so. That was the sign of their sympathy for the demon, either that or just an understanding of feelings.

Suddenly, Willie Lou's voice spoke out for everyone to hear. "He's staying with The Demon Corps, and we'll be moving towards Richmond to end this war!"

Willie Lou recieved a response of cheering from soldiers, each of them prepared to siege Virginia in efforts of overthrowing the capital of The Confederacy. She placed The Hoodied Demon, who finally introduced himself as his real name Jasper, under Phuture's supervision since it was her idea.

Phuture didn't mind since history was being altered and the war was quickly reaching an end, mostly due to her transmigration into Celie Ward. Because of her and The Demon Corps, the Confederate states nervously fully prepared to launch an upscale military operation in hopes of redeeming Virginia before it was too late.

Robert E Lee was left in charge of the redemption of Virginia and fighting off The Union coming from north, anticipating an upcoming battle north of Virginia in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

The American forces spent the New Year of 1862 setting up for an invasion, changing history again with President Abraham Lincoln signing the Emancipation Proclamation a year early on New Years Day.

The Union continied prepping to push their way for Richmond after an opposing ice demon failed to defeat them in December, and after the executive order issued by President Lincoln declared confederate states to free slaves.

The Emancipation Proclamation didn't put an end to slavery itself, but would create a path that lead to the abomination of slavery in America. It declared all slaves under the rebellious confederate control were to be set free, and would lead pathway to the 13th Amendment, which will eventually abolish slavery.

In January and February, The Demon Corps worked on seperate supernatural missions while keeping their focus on the southern and eastern states.

The Itaska assisted with supernatural missions in the midwest, handling demon sights in Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, and even southern central states like Oklahoma and Texas. They were without their leader, Hayze, who was helping The Demon Corps directly while leaving his sister in charge.

Southern states were beginning to forfeit going into 1862, causing a projectory that predicted the war to end three years earlier.

The entire country awaited for March to arrive with nervousness, knowing that the war would heat up with the weather as it reached an ending.

Phuture was stationed on a mission in late February at Marianna, Florida. She was accompanied by fellow Demon Corps allies Jasper Adams, Robert Smalls and Tyler Harris, the threat of them were on a mission to secure Marianna against a heavily armed demon group.

The home of Florida's secessionist Governor, John Milton, was a military depot for the Confederates and main target for Phuture's group.

The Demon Corps fought against numerous demons and a powerful Confederate army with assistance of Union troups.

Phuture, who was still at just about twenty percent of her spiritual capacity, led the force with significant help from Jasper, Robert and Tyler.

The unit successfully invaded the Governor's home and exterminated several demons that occupied the small city.

The end of winter in Florida felt like the end of spring for Phuture, leaving the lingering thoughts of an ending to Civil War in her mind.

The weather was warming up, therefore battles would continue to become more intensive and critical to the war.

She knew the time was coming sooner than later, Union troops were beginning to make their way down to Virginia which would lead to a bloody battle of Gettysburg. Also, troops were making their push for Georgia as well in hopes of taking Atlanta from The Confederacy.

Historically, both those battles were won by The Union and paid huge dividends to their victory. The unease feeling she felt didn't come from concerns of victory, but from an unknowing of when the battles would take place.

History had changed repeatedly time and time again, including the battle she just fought in Florida that took place two years earlier than historically.

I have the potential to alter so much in America…if I could do my best to participate in the recovery of slavery and keep President Lincoln alive…I could prevent millions of lives from being slaughtered!

Phuture's team prepared to leave Florida in one piece, until a sudden spiritual pressure arrived with exceptional prowess of Divinity Energy. An energy she was extremely familiar with, and in fact gave birth to the spirit.

Phuture let out an excited scream at the sight of her daughter, a young lady that resembled her true vessel in looks.

Phuture shouted. "Life!"

Life stumbled towards her mother and fallen into her arms, her soul had been damaged from battle injuries.

"Valeur…" Life mumbled. "Valeur…is…here."
