Chapter 34 - Life

Phuture stared down her opponent while looking for an opportunity to attack.

Suddenly, Valeur's aura expanded and the air become much warmer within The Domain. The time of facing the demon who ruined her world was now, but the heat of his spiritual pressure alone was enough to burn most beings to ashes.

A gust of wind swept by her leaving in a state of chilled shock, in awe to see the power difference between her and The Divine Demon. She had never felt so overwhelmed before in her entire existence, but she knew it was solely because of Celie Ward's vessel.

Celie is strong...she just doesn't have the years of hardwork and experience that my body has...am I going to die here?"

Valeur struck with another wave of his demonic power, illuminating the entire domain with his bright white and yellow aura.

"Mother, where the divine are you?"

The voice of her daughter attracted her attention, but the incoming energy wave needed to be defended against.

Life's voice spoke out again, this time Phuture realized it was telepathy. "Mom!"

Phuture replied in her mind. "In my Protective Domain...I needed to separate Valeur from Gettysburg."

"He'll kill you! Deactivate your domain now and come back! We have a plan mother!"

"We?"

"Your kids...all of us...we worked together to get you guys out."

The domain made of Phuture's spiritual energy was designed to protect her at all cost. The energy everyone in the domain, on the ground beneath their feet and the skies above was all meant to assure her safety.

The energy sunk her down like quick sand, determining there was no other defense against Valeur's incoming attack.

Everything happened so quickly that she could barely process what occurred. Her protective domain had been eradicated by the single attack from Valeur, and she could still hear Life's voice speaking out to her telepathically.

I'm cooked...I'm sorry Life...I wish...I could've gotten to assist with your plan. Take it from here...baby girl

"Mother!" Life's voice screamed out to her, but this time the voice certainly just wasn't in her mind.

Phuture opened her eyes to the sight of Life hovering overhead, a huge bright white smile on her light brown face. The smile delighted from pure satisfaction of seeing her mother after spending months with her siblings fighting against Valeur's army.

"It's....you..." Life wiped tears from eyes before they fell. "Valeur is still out there...dad is injured...thank you for staying by my side all those days mother."

Phuture's senses were dulling due to her spiritual essence fading away, signaling she must've took significant damage from Valeur shattering her domain. She didn't detect Life's presence until they were next to each other, then she could detect multiple spiritual pressures.

"Your twin sister...I can feel her essence on you..." Phuture used her last might of strength to speak. "Don't tell me..."

"Yes, Valeur attacked us while we were all searching for you. At first, he was only on the lookout for Peace until he found out we all escaped and left behind an illusional technique for his army to battle against. Everyone misses you so much mother...we couldn't stand for it anymore. Empathy and I just so happened to have chosen this world...it was an obvious choice for me. You and dad were born here before going to another world after all...it's just…Valeur was waiting on us."

Life placed a small portion of her divine life energy within her mother.

Phuture's life had been saved by her daughter, Life.

After recieving the divine life energy she was able to sit, finally realizing they were within Life's domain.

"I was waiting for you to deactivate your domain, but I didn't know you weren't at full power until dad told me. Valeur confronted pops with a clone while handling Gettysburg."

Gettysburg!

"Willie Lou and Chicago!" Phuture tried to stand with their faces in mind. "Where are they? The Demon Corps needs my assistance! Let's go back to Beaufont."

Life snapped her fingers to swap their location to the base in Beaufont as ordered.

Tyler, Robert, and Bryson were the lone soldiers remaining at The Demon Corps temporary base. The other Union soldiers and Demon Corps members were on their seperate missions, finishing The American Civil War years earlier than historical.

Phuture wanted immediate answers about the whereabouts of Willie Lou and Chicago, so she approached the three men on guard at base with assertiveness.

"Willie Lou is missing and Terrance is out with critical injuries, so I'm gonna be taking charge until one of them gets back." Phuture informed the men, she said. "Chicago is currently missing as well, therefore we'll kill two birds with one stone by searching for them both simultaneously. Our last sitrep on Virginia and Atlanta?"

The three men looked amongst each other, but Robert Smalls would be the one to take on a speaking role.

"Last sitrep from Atlanta about ten minutes ago, The Itaska are on the verge of assisting our army of invading Atlanta. Virginia about five minutes ago, the team retreated for their safety when an extremely powerful being appeared. They would've likely died…but I'm hearing reports the person was a normal woman. She wasn't a demon or vampire. They should be here in minutes."

Phuture nodded, she replied. "Very well…thank you for the report Robert."

Life grabbed her mother by the hand and walked her out the door, seperating from the rest of Demon Corps to continue their conversation.

The two were outside under an illumination of moonlight and dark clouds, rain would soon be coming down from a thunderstorm.

She noticed that Life's energy of joy from earlier was no longer present, wearing a frown while in deep thoughts about their current situation.

"I'm sorry mom…but I wasn't finished speaking about dad." Life paused, still in her mind about her words. "Dad…I think his vessel was killed…his soul was seperated."

Seperated! What did Valeur do to him? I never thought all of this would happen while I remained by Life's side at the infirmary…is this entirely my fault?

"Dad's soul is in a limbo…he spoke to me telepathically before his essence disappeared. I don't know where he is…but he's gone mom."
