They walked side by side through the grand hall, the soft rustle of Hana's steps echoing against marble floors. Maids bowed deeply as they passed, their eyes respectfully lowered, until the pair reached the living room.
There, Nari sat sprawled on the couch, sipping juice like she owned the place.
"Nari," Hana called softly.
Her friend leapt up, radiant smile bursting across her face as she enveloped Hana in a tight hug. "Bride-to-be!" she sang teasingly before peeking over Hana's shoulder—her gaze instantly snagging on Kai.
For a heartbeat, Nari froze. Then her jaw nearly dropped.
Kai stepped forward, calm and composed, his voice polite but carrying quiet authority. "Good morning."
Nari's cheeks flushed as she looked him up and down shamelessly. "Nobody told me brother-in-law was this devastatingly handsome. It's an honor to finally meet you." She extended her hand with exaggerated formality.
Kai took it, shaking firmly with gentlemanly grace. "Pleasure's all mine."
The faint pink in Nari's cheeks deepened, and Hana's brows twitched in irritation.
Spotting the bag at Nari's side, Hana quickly shifted focus. "What's in the bag?"
"Some of your clothes," Nari grinned, "and most importantly—your camera."
Hana squealed, her delight bursting out of her before she could stop it. She stomped her feet like an excited child before pulling Nari into another hug. "Thank you! I love you!"
From the corner of her eye, she caught Kai watching, a low chuckle slipping past his lips. It was the first time he'd seen Hana so unguarded—so unpolished—like the carefree girl she used to be.
"No, I love you," Nari teased back.
"No, I love you," Hana countered with playful stubbornness, and they both burst out laughing.
