Chapter 13 - Student

I sat at the head of the table the next day. I had managed to convince Tanjiro to wait until morning to tell his mom about his plans. Thankfully the little brat had listened.

Kie listened to Tanjiro patiently as he explained what had happened the night before. Her look of worry clear underneath the calm she displayed.

Nezuko had taken the younger kids away to play while we talked. Kie kept glancing at me every once in a while, seemingly to corroborate Tanjiro's story.

I don't mind the Kamado family knowing about demons or the Corps. I had a plan of my own stewing in my head. The mountain wasn't as safe anymore.

While Muzan wouldn't come back here himself. I didn't doubt the bastard would send minions of his to harrass Tanjiro and his family. Normally they'd be shit out of luck, maybe the Corps would station a few slayers here.

But I was a Hashira, I'd exploit the shit out of the privileges that Kagaya had handed to me. I'd take them to the Butterfly Mansion. There they'd be safe. With a Hashira always present in the form of either Kanae or Shinobu, no demons would attack them.

Kie could also help out, along with the rest of Tanjiro's siblings. I remember seeing a bunch of little girls taking care of injured slayers in the anime.

"Satoru-san… is this all true?" Kie finally asked me, a worried look now clear on her face.

"Yes…" I sighed, "demons are part of the hidden threat in this world. They hunt at night and hide in the morning."

"And you plan on taking Tanjiro as a student?"

"Hmm, I can train him to be capable enough to defend everyone here. But I have another proposal."

Tanjiro looked at me in shock, Kie had a matching look etched on her face. Seeing that neither would be replying any time soon I continued.

"A colleague of mine runs a hospital with her sister, they're both very strong. If you would be willing to relocate your family there for the time being, I could guarantee your safety there while Tanjiro trains with me."

Kie looked pensive, Tanjiro looked at his mother expectantly. I stood up from where I was seated,

"It's a difficult choice… uprooting your family like this. Trust me though, it'll be a great help for both my organisation and your family if you go through with it. I need to send word… I'll let you think on it."

I stepped out of the house and looked for Mei-Mei. Spotting the cat basking in the sun on top of a tree stump I walked over.

"Mei… I need you to return to the Butterfly Mansion and let them know I'll be bringing guests over."

"Nyaaan." She purred before eyeing me.

"Tsk… I don't need to ask for permission first… I'm the stro—

"Nyaaa." She meowed before hopping off the stump and dashing into the trees.

I sighed, 'No one lets me finish my catchphrase. The disrespect….'

I smiled, all things considering I had changed the Kamado's fate one way or another. None of them died, Tanjiro would be stronger than his canon counterpart, and then there was Mitsuri…

'So far so good for someone who's just winging it.'

[Scene Break]

Three days passed in the blink of an eye, a familiar kasugai crow landed on my shoulder. This was Shinobu's crow, En. Identified by the small but shiny butterfly charm it had around its neck.

"The Wandering Hashira is asked to bring the guests to the Butterfly Mansion." En cawed at me before flying off.

"Tch… that lazy cat. Can't even come back with the information herself."

To be fair the distance was an issue, as far as I knew, Mei-Mei the cat was just a normal cat. She didn't have special abilities, she was probably resting.

During the three days Kie had agreed to accompany me and bring her kids along. Tanjiro had been ecstatic about training, until he saw the evil grin on my face.

A few hours later, Kie and the kids had packed up everything they needed for the journey and were ready to head out.

Standing out in their yard I waved everyone over with a grin on my face.

"Hai hai, everyone please grab on to each other and the two people closest to me grab onto my arms."

Tanjiro and Kie, who were at the end of the small circle looked at me in confusion. I smiled and explained what I was about to do.

"Walking would take way too long so we're all going to just flash over there 'kay?"

"Huh?" Tanjiro looked even more confused but grabbed onto my arm anyways. Kie did the same though she seemed a little apprehensive.

The Kamado siblings all locked hands and once everyone was firmly grasping each other I raised my hands and clasped them together.

With the courtyard of the Butterfly Mansion firmly in my mind I grinned and addressed everyone.

"Alright… on the count of three, everyone please take a deep breath and close your eyes. Tanjiro-kun… please count us off."

"Uh… right Sensei! One!"

I calculated the distance between the mountain top and the courtyard.

"Two!"

I let my cursed energy surge out of my like a tidal wave to blanket the Kamado family around me.

"One!"

We vanished with a crack of displaced air. The ground beneath everyone's feet shattered into a small crater.

In an equally thunderous crack we appeared in the courtyard of the Butterfly Mansion. A few Kakushi who were walking around jumped back in fright.

I looked over to Tanjiro who was dry heaving after he had let go of my hand. Kie was slightly pale but was better off. Nezuko an Hanako were trying to comfort Tanjiro who was heaving.

Takeo, Shiguru, and Rokuta were already looking around in awe at the sudden change of scenery. Out of the whole family only Tanjiro and Kie looked a little sick from the instantaneous transportation.

"Ara… Satoru-san… when did you arrive." Shinobu came out after the commotion drew her attention.

I grinned widely, "Shinobu-chan…" I dodged the needle she threw at me, "I brought the guests over."

"Hmm, okay… I'll show them to their rooms." She ignored the fact that I had appeared in the middle of the courtyard with a whole family.

After almost a year of knowing me and putting up with my shit, Shinobu had pretty much gotten used to my bullshit.

Tanjiro stayed by my side but Kie and the rest of the Kamado family left with Shinobu after Tanjiro bid them farewell.

They knew he'd still be around, I had told them that Tanjiro would be staying with them in the Butterfly Mansion, and that he'd just occasionally go with me on missions when he wasn't training.

Tanjiro looked much better after he had gotten the nausea out of his system. He looked at me with undiminished determination.

"Sensei! Will I be able to do that too?"

"Nah, I'm unique."

[Scene Break]

Several days passed, I was summoned to the Ubuyashiki estate the day after I brought the Kamado family to the Butterfly Mansion.

Kagaya had been curious as to why I had seeing brough in a completely random family. After explaining that the Kamado family were inheritors of the Sun Breathing style, he was all too eager to have them though.

Even more so when he learned that I had taken Tanjiro in as my Tsuguko. I explained that while I may not be able to pass on my personal abilities, I would be able to strength Tanjiro to the point where he could take on the Sun Breathing style and teach it himself.

Tanjiro on the other hand was currently laying in a pool of his own sweat. He was breathing heavy after finishing the 'warm' up exercises I had set out for him.

"S-sensei… I can't feel my body anymore."

"Hm, that's good Tanjiro-kun… you'll do this every morning before breakfast for a month before I begin to teach you sword fighting."

"But sensei! Why do I need to do 100 push up, 100 sit up, 100 crunches, and run 10 kilometres ever day?" He asked.

"Huh? Because, you need to build your body to be strong enough silly. Don't you want to be strong enough to protect everyone?"

Tanjiro immediately sat up, determination relit. "Hai! I won't disappoint you Sensei! Yosh!!!! Here I go again!!"

He jumped onto his feet and moved to complete his laps around the Butterfly Mansion.

Just then, a kasugai crow circled around my head.

"The Wandering Hashira Satoru is summoned… report to HQ! Caw caw!" The crow called.

"Hmm… I wonder what's happening now. Maybe Mitsuri is back?"

I closed my eyes and sensed for the CE I had left on Mitsuri's socks. I felt it close by an smiled, she was back.

I called out to Tanjiro before leaving.

"Tanjiro-kun, I'll be off for a meeting, I'll be back later tonight. Go ahead an rest once you're done with your laps."

Tanjiro waved at me as he kept on running. Seeing that he had gotten my message I clasped my hands and vanished in a snap of air.
