Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Friday the 13th

Friday, October 13th 2023.

What are the chances of this happening?

It was Friday 13th which was known for being the unluckiest day.

And to add to that.

It was October.

What could even happen on this day.

Yes it's a myth and probably just a superstition.

But what if it was real.

No, I'm just talking crazy…

***

It was just any normal school day.

Or rather just a normal 13 year old boy's life.

It finally started to snow and the leaves are all gone.

Which can only mean one thing.

Air pollution.

It's the worst here in Mongolia.

And all the mud and dirt mixed with the snow.

Probably the worst time of the year.

"Why are you just watching on your phone?"

"What?"

I blinked and looked up

I realized it was my classmate.

"Why not, it's pretty boring here"

For a second I thought it was the teacher.

I don't know why I thought of that but thank goodness.

"We brought some UNO cards with us. Wanna join in?"

I looked at his back.

There were 4 kids who were managing the cards.

"Sure." I replied

Soon after we were playing UNO together.

I sat cross-legged on the chair with them.

The cards were worn and bent like they've been in hundreds of matches.

We couldn't even remember the rules so it was half made up but we played anyway.

Red on red. Reverse. Draw two. Someone yelled

"UNO!"

But we all had four plus cards and gave him the time of his life.

We argued.

We laughed.

We lost.

And after a while it didn't matter that the skies were gray or the awful pollution.

At least we had fun.

"Hey! What are you all doing?"

Uh-oh.

The classroom fell into silence.

The classmate that was playing looked at the teacher with big wide eyes.

The others sitting at their chairs looking at us and the teacher back and forth.

And I just sat there.

Bringing toys or games was banned in this school.

And we messed up.

We were so ingrained in this match that we forgot the passage of time.

The break time was already over.

Despite it being 20 minutes long.

It felt much shorter.

Like maybe a 5 minute game.

But it doesn't matter because we messed up.

"Who's cards are these?"

She has disdain in her voice.

I could feel it.

"Uh."

We all looked at each other as if trying to get help.

She sighed

"You know what? Fine, I don't want to deal with this crap. It's already the last day of the week

so I don't want to deal with it."

"Just get your notebooks and sit at your tables."

"Got it."

Soon we all fixed the chairs and table and went back to our desks.

"Good thing it was Friday or she would have scolded us."

The classmate sitting next to me whispers.

"Yea, it's pretty ironic."

"Please don't talk during my class. I'm not in a good mood right now." The teacher spoke.

We shut our mouth, not to make any commotion.

We already had a few hours left before it ended.

So we decided to sit down and listen.

The teacher taught us a new math subject.

Something about geometry or whatever.

I didn't pay too much attention to it.

But rather I just looked at the outside window.

And just daydreamed.

Imagining myself I was in another world.

Where I got everything I wanted.

Sometimes, I swear the other worlds feel more real than this one.

And I spent the entire rest of the hour daydreaming.

***

RRRRIIIIIIINNNNNNGG!!!

That's the school bell!

It's finally over.

"Ok class you remember your homework right? Great, now leave, I wanna go home too."

We were all packing up our things fast.

Like my classmates were dropping stuff trying to pack up.

It was so crowded because the classroom was relatively small for a group of twenty-one

kids.

I just waited for all the classmates to leave before getting out.

Sitting in my chair watching the kids pushing each other.

It was quite funny.

After a couple of minutes later, all the classmates left and I could finally leave.

Walking to the end of the hallway and descending down the flight of stairs.

I jumped down in excitement.

Skipping multiple steps.

I was on the fourth floor so it took a second but I finally got to the entrance.

It was crowded like it was in my classroom.

I saw the teachers trying to pass through the crowds to get upstairs.

Looked like some kind of a horde of zombies.

I tried to fit through and had to bend my way to the door.

Until I was finally able to get out.

"Ah, the fresh air of Carbon Dioxide" I mutter.

"And the mud."

Nothing like the cold stabbing through my coat to remind me I'm alive.

Soon I walked straight home.

"Hey! Where are you going Temujin?"

I paused.

I turned around to see Anand, my friend.

"Home."

"Already? Don't you wanna hang out with us?"

And he points at his back to show 2 more of my friends.

"I'm sorry but I'm busy today." I replied.

In fact I'm not.

I just wanna go home and play some games.

"Oh, what are you doing?"

"I'm gonna help my mother with some stuff."

"But are you free tomorrow? Maybe we could go somewhere rather than eating at a fast food

restaurant."

"Sure." I replied.

I really don't want to eat fast food right now.

If it wasn't I might have changed my mind.

"Well then see you tomorrow."

Both of us walked in the opposite direction.

The snow crunched as I walk.

And the cold wind was biting my face.

But that didn't stop me from imagining.

Imagining myself getting isekai'd into another world.

I don't even know why I'm obsessed with isekai but it feels like time has stopped for me.

Where I could finally take a break from my life. To escape.

I've imagined myself as a hero.

A person who defeated the demon king and got all the hot chicks.

Wow, I'm going crazy.

And so cliche too.

Hehehehehe

I walked through the streets.

People and cars passing by.

The sound the mud makes when it's run over by a car.

The crunch of the snow.

Sigh

Why does my life have to be so boring?

Even the day that supposed bad luck is the most normal thing ever.

The light soon turned green on the crosswalk.

As I stepped foot on the ground, I almost slipped and lost my balance.

The roads were more slippery than usual today.

Trying to walk was a bit difficult but I managed to maintain my balance to cross the road.

Hunk!

I turn to a massive white truck steering right up to my face.

Until…

Huh

So this is how I die.

How pathetic.

I died from a car crash.

I felt my whole being crushed and then ran over.

It seems that the truck couldn't stop due to the icy road and ultimately crashed into me.

I couldn't breath, I felt as if my throat filled up with some kind of fluid?

Some sort of sharp object seems to pierce my chest and lungs.

As I tried to breath and my chest expanded, I felt something pierce to stop me.

I could see the gray sky above me.

And heard people screaming.

My vision blurs and darkens as time passes by.

Until it was pitch black.

So this is death huh…

But then I could feel something and hear something?

It feels like I'm tiny.

And I hear someone saying.

"Come on, push!"

And a woman crying.

But I realized I could open my eyes.

And I did and to see a woman.

"Congratulations."

She says.

It feels like I'm being floated by something.

And another woman got in my sight.

A beautiful woman that looks like she went through hell.

And I soon realized.

That I was reincarnated.
