Chapter 12 - 12.Jake Vs The Dark Shadow Gang.

Mike.

This was the name of the cyclops who had witnessed Jake trying to get rid of Travis and his bruisers.

Mike had initially been asked to deliver a message to Travis, who happened to be one of Bruno's captains, but to his surprise, Mike witnessed the murder of Travis and his two subordinates.

And right now, the person responsible for Travis' death was chasing after him, causing a strong sense of fear to overwhelm him.

Never before had Mike felt so much fear unlike today.

Even while being a cyclops himself, Mike knew how strong his kinds were, but never once had he seen a fellow cyclops murdering three of their kind so easily as how Jake had done a few moments ago.

And what's even more terrifying was the fact that Jake wasn't even a cyclops.

At least, from the distance Mike stood, Jake's physique certainly didn't look like that of a cyclops, so Mike concluded that Jake was not a cyclops.

"But if he wasn't a cyclops, then what was he?"

"A demon?"

Well, Mike wasn't going to stand back to find out if the killer was a demon or not, especially since Jake had already noticed his presence.

And that's why he was running as fast as he could, back to the Dark Shadow hideout.

Though, the thick, dark clouds of the sky made it difficult for him to see where he was going but Mike wasn't going to let that stop him from reaching the hideout.

The rain continued to hit his face and cold water slid into his eye, making it to sting as he ran through the streets, but Mike didn't slow down and he wasn't aiming to.

His boots stepped on the wet road and mud splashed up his pants but Mike only hastened his pace even more.

All he could think about right now, was returning back to the hideout in time before Jake catches up to him cause he knew that if Jake were to catch up to him, then he'll most definitely be killed like Travis.

While thinking about this, Mike slowly looked back to see if the gap between him and Jake was wide, but to his surprise, it was very narrow and now, it was only a matter of time before Jake catches up to win.

"Eiii!!!" Mike shrieked in fear.

Just how terrifying can a person be cause no matter how Mike thinks about it, there was no way Jake could be a human.

This was because no human in the slum, should be able to run as fast as Jake was running right now unless if he had an affinity to lightning element.

But from what Mike could see right now, it didn't look like Jake had an affinity to lightning.

'So how the hell is he running so fast?' Mike questioned in his mind because despite their height, cyclops were generally faster than humans and everyone knew of this fact.

So, even if a human had adapted to the wild mana flowing within their veins, it was still impossible for them to be stronger or as faster than a cyclops unless they were using a really expensive cybernetic gadget.

However, it's extremely rare to find those in the slums.

"This is all strange." Mike uttered out while still running.

"At this rate I'll be dead before I even reach the warehouse."

"Why did they send me to deliver a message to Travis?"

"It should have been someone else." Mike cried out as he recalled how one of Bruno's captains had approached him with a knife aimed to his throat, forcing him to deliver a message to Travis.

He gave him half an hour to deliver the message or else he would be dead before sunset.

Feeling scared, Mike immediately nodded in understanding and dashed into the rain to deliver the message to Travis.

He had been forced to work for Bruno for more than two years now, so Mike was wise enough to know that no captain in the Dark Shadow gang could ever give out empty threats.

In fact, he doubted if there's any mob syndicate in the slum capable of doing such a thing and that's why he didn't asked questions and simply do as he was told.

"I have to let the captains know that Travis is dead." Mike muttered to himself as he focused his mind on the wild mana flowing within his veins.

His body slowly began to glow and then yellow sparks of lightning crawled out of his arms to spiral around his body.

Drops of rain hissed at where it touched the electrical sparks, but then the loud rumbling sound of thunder echoed from Mike's body as his legs dashed forward in a blur, allowing him to swiftly widen the distance between himself and Jake.

And within seconds, Mike could already see the abandoned warehouse which happened to be the Dark Shadow gang's hideout and base of operation.

The big rolling door of the warehouse was still left half-opened and Mike hurried inside but he unwittingly toppled forward and skid across the wet concrete floor.

His shoulder and arm slammed against the floor and wall but the pain that coursed through his body was the least of his worries.

Meanwhile, his fellow colleagues were all puzzled as to why Mike had suddenly darted into the warehouse.

"Oi! Mike!! What's wrong with you?"

"Where have you been? I've been looking all over for you?"

"What about the message? Were you able to deliver it?"

Everyone in the room kept asking him a question, but Mike didn't give a damn about what they were asking him.

He swiftly rose to his feet, then he scrambled and ran deeper into the warehouse as he screamed. "Close it!!! Close the gate!! Whatever you do, don't open it! Just lock it, now!!! He's coming...!!" His voice vanished into the distance but this only puzzled everyone as they glanced at each other, wondering what might have spooked Mike so much in the rain.

Most of the gangsters inside the warehouse were lackeys and captains.

The captains were three in numbers and each of them wore a captain band on their arms.

"What happened to Mike? Why does he look so spooked out?" One of the lackeys asked.

"Maybe he saw something outside?"

"What could he have possibly seen?"

"A magical beast, perhaps."

"Maybe."

"Nah, I bet it's a demonic beast "

"Whatever it is, you guys should go check it out." One of the three captains suggested.

"But captain, what if it's really a demonic beast? Don't you think we should...."

"That's why I asked you to go check it out " The captain interjected. "If it's a beast then you shut the door but if it's a man, then we end him outside, understood?"

Recently, there's been concurrent sneak attacks from a few smaller syndicates in the sector, so it wasn't really surprising if those guys had thought they could catch the Dark Shadow gang off guard due to the intense rain.

This was why the captain had asked the lackey to check it out, just to be certain of who their enemy really was.

Realizing this, the lackey swallowed a huge chunk of saliva before nodding in response.

Then, he stepped out into the rain and everyone watched closely to see how he would react to whatever was out in the rain, but to everyone's surprise, a huge truck tire suddenly appeared out of nowhere to smash the lackey flat against the concrete.
