Tonight was the tech showcase, and I was ready. I knew the fire would happen and Tadashi would die. I knew Hiro's mini bots would get stolen and Callaghan would become a supervillain. The only part of that I was worried about was saving Tadashi. It theoretically shouldn't be hard. One of the things the power armor excelled at was firefighting.
All I'd have to do was take his place then escape having not found Callaghan. I had arrived early to the showcase just for that purpose. I wanted the armor to be in top shape to make sure I wasn't in danger. I could theoretically lift close to 1200 pounds without effort so the strength should be enough to allow me to stop anything bad from happening.
As the day wore on more people began showing up and from my slightly elevated platform I saw Tadashi and Hiro along with the nerd team rushing through the building. While waiting multiple investors and such came by but I wasn't interested unless they were part of Fred's dad's company.
The Stan Lee of this universe was just as rich as his real life counterpart and he was a known investor.
Eventually SFITs people came by and I easily got in through the processes this showcase had. After that I simply put on the armor and went to support Hiro. The night went much like I remembered as Hiro stunned the audience and the night continued. We eventually found ourselves outside with aunt Cass and the nerd team when people started flooding out due to a massive fire.
When we found out that Callaghan was still inside I had to physically restrain Tadashi.
"Let go of me! Callaghans still in there he may need help." Tadashi yelled while trying to make me let go.
In my static speaker voice I said "I know that Tadashi, I'm stopping you from going in and dying. I have power armor on that will protect me, I will go in and search for him. I'm the only one with a chance as all that burning technology will create incredibly high temps."
At my explanation I set him down and began a jog to the building. I simply went in and walked through the burning building and tested my suit. The temperature regulation of the suit was functioning well, and the expensive air filters provided clean air. I easily cleaned debris while walking around and the suit itself tore through anything in my way.
After thoroughly testing my suit I made my way back out of the building and had to explain to the officers what I was doing in there and the situation within.
I eventually made it back to my new family and explained the situation to them. The next two weeks were spent messing with my armor and adding to it while helping out. After the two weeks a new head of robotics was chosen at SFIT and Tadashi led Hiro and I inside. Over the next week I spent most waking hours working on my armor and developing the jump kit the flight models of the newest armor had.
The jump kit was a larger and more powerful version of the mobility booster rockets. They took some time to build and integrate but I eventually came away with decent flight capability. Alongside the abilities of the suit I studied the other tech the nerd team was making. I easily integrated and hid the magnetic levitation discs within the suits legs and arms with two on each leg and arm.
I had attempted to integrate laser induced plasma blades but I couldn't figure out how to shape them. The plasma also took a massive amount of energy to create, so much so that even adding more batteries didn't help much. I still had yet to figure out how the powered their tech in the movie.
A few days after messing with plasma tech Honey Lemon found my attempt at improving my batteries. She dragged me into her own battery research and we spent multiple days using the best tech this world had hoping to make better ones. In the end she made a battery that somehow held massive quantities of energy.
I didn't really understand it but I knew how to make the batteries and that was enough for me. I had already bugged the schools systems to download everything I could. If I even needed to make more I had the knowledge to do it.
With the new batteries supporting me I eventually made something like a lightsaber. It was a cylindrical device with an emitter and a single button. Wasibi's technology and research was public knowledge so I told him about the blade I had designed based on his inventions. He and Fred eagerly helped me in testing and refining the device as Wasabi eventually made a way to shape it.
After a few hours of messing around with the electromagnetic fields that he used to shape the emitted plasma I integrated it into my suit. I could freely make most blade weapon sleep with some tuning of the EM fields and even make shields, though they suffered the same problem lightsabers had with material projectiles.
After upgrading the suit itself I began working on something that had mostly died off in my world, human-machine integration. HMI was being developed by multiple companies before the war but when the war started a lot was lost to peoples hate. A lot of what was made was destroyed by fires and lost forever as companies didn't trust anyone with their research. But despite the destruction some things still survived.
The HMI eye implants were the biggest problem we had with the soldiers of the government. With a full eye replacement their eyes acted as live high quality cameras. The most terrifying enemy unit was known to use them for tracking and sniping. The implant allowed many things but the best was the utility of them. They could do anything a camera could, and it was all done on thought.
We had attempted to get the tech for ourselves but we never had the resources for fast production so not many people got to have them. I had studied what I could about them but couldn't make them as they required massively expensive and precise technology to make.
It took 15 days to make my first prototype but the testing went well and I began working with people who were much more experienced in biotech. During this time I had to trade in my research to get access to more advanced technology. After 17 days we produced, tested and eventually implanted a new version.
After the massive success that was the second version many more people joined our team to make better eyeballs. Even Tadashi had contributed some by making us incredibly small hyper spectral cameras to integrate. Eventually we tested a third and fourth version. The fifth version ended up being what I had wanted. We had integrated the eyes perfectly with nerve connections and powered the eyes with bio-electricity.
I had even made a small neural implant to connect to the thoughts that would control the eyes.
Over the development I had largely ignored everything so I didn't know where in the story of the movie we were. But that didn't matter to me, I already knew Hiro was working on it and I had an eye replacement to have done. In my home world we had people with multiple implants and augments along with power armor, we had called them main characters as a joke. They would sometimes upload videos of their missions and such and it always felt like watching someone play a realistic VR game.
They could walk into enemy facilities and back out with all enemies dead. They could go toe to toe with tanks and win. They could jump of skyscrapers and end 30 life before they touched the ground. They made us feel like side characters. The eyes I was having implanted were custom designed. They were made for anything I'd need them for. They could even slow my perception of time, giving me a slightly faster reaction time than even the best of people.
As I lay down for my surgery I remembered, the main characters had gone through extreme training. It had a 99% drop rate and wasn't over time at least one member of the training group died. The survivors were seen as the truly best, the only people above them were the leaders of the rebellion who they got their orders from. With my new eyes I'd need to put myself through training to become like them.
