Chapter 3 - Again?

I woke up groggy with a dry throat. My eyes were covered but it was still easy to navigate. I found a cup with straw and drank it all in one go. A few minutes later a doctor removed the blinders. My vision was just as I had expected, it was a world only those with million dollar eyes could see. Everything was rendered in perfect detail, from the dust floating in the air to the distant horizon seen through the windows.

I could already tell that the enhanced visual reflexes had kicked in as anything in my vision was always seen. As I walked to my lab I could see dust billowing in my wake, bugs flittering around, and even see the most minute vibrations running through a fountain. It was incredible, but it of course had a down side. My brain would have to slowly adapt to all the visual input. That of course meant lots of headaches.

I put on my armor and prepared a test for my new abilities. A large obstacle course with motion activated baseball throwers, and swinging steel poles. I ran through the course till I ran out of baseballs for the machine after cutting them in all half.

While taking down the course I felt something in my chest, a pull of sorts. I didn't know what it was and my suit's sensors didn't see anything so I closed my eyes and followed the weird feeling. I slowly stumbled till I was forced to stop as I suddenly dropped. I was falling, and it wasn't a short trip or stumble. I opened my eyes to see I was high in the sky, above a massive forest. Below me was a small town on a coast with a long dirt road leading through the trees to a distant city.

As I got closer to the ground I activated my prototype jump kit and slowed my fall. I slammed through branches and touched ground. The town was just beyond the trees and I couldn't see anyone coming so I assumed no one had seen me fall, as it would be hard to explain. I walked into town and found it small but lively. Children ran around with their Pokemon, a granny sat on her rocking chair, people popped in and out of the small store and the restaurant…

Pokémon?

Looking back at the children I found a small group of kids running around as small but recognizable Pokemon played along. I halted in my tracks of a second then shrugged it off. A new world, big whoop. Then I stopped again, that so called god had said he'd give me a power but hadn't told me what it was. Maybe it was what had caused me to drop into this world?

Anyways I began walking again and spotted a large building with a windmill on a hill by a small river running beside the town. I immediately recognized that place. I walked over and jumped the fence at the bottom of the hill and walked up to the building. On a small plate beside the door was the words Professor Oaks Laboratory.

I knocked on the door multiple times but no one answered so I went around back and went up. I fired a single grapple and hooked the roof and climbed to a window. After going through I found a disheveled mix of laboratory and home. I immediately crossed the room to the computers I could see and plugged in my universal cable. The universal cable had auto adaptive wiring allowing me to interface with most electronics freely.

A spent a few hours breaking through the security then directly downloaded everything I could. After completing the download I went to leave but spotted something, a small case of pokeballs. The case had a tag marking them empty so I grabbed six and tossed them in a bag. I doubted that Professor Oak would care or even notice and he could easily get more.

After grabbing the pokeballs I left the building and went into the woods. I didn't have any money but the small store here would probably trade things found in the woods for things of value. It was pretty easy to scavenge out here as berries were plentiful here. It seems Pallet town was blessed by whatever god took care of berries in this world.

I sold the berries alongside some small and big mushrooms and made a decent amount of money. I spent the money on survival supplies, basic Pokemon food, and an expanded Pokétch bag. They had somehow made mass produced bigger on the inside bags, likely connected to how pokeballs worked.

The bag itself was an unassuming, regular satchel bag but somehow held 2 cubic meters of space. I wanted to figure it out but the closest place that might know was in the Pokétch branch in Saffron city.

I had everything I needed except a trainer license but I could easily get away as an illegal trainer. I knew now that my stay in this world was likely temporary so I would get everything I could out of it. With everything I needed and a plan to follow I began my Pokémon journey…. With a lot of walking.

The path to Viridian city was technically straightforward. In reality the path there was anything but straight. There was a forest and small mountains to navigate. I didn't have much of a map besides the view I had gotten while falling so I was simply following the path. I knew that route one wasn't very long but this is reality. Almost everything is further away then in games or other media. As I travelled the rough paths of the hill like terrain I caught site of many Pokemon.

Most were the extremely common types but I had spotted a few I'd like to have. As I travelled further I eventually got close to a Pokemon. About mid level in a tree was a blue-green pine cone with a spike on top. I easily recognized this early game bug type. With a punch to the tree I jumped back just in time to avoid an explosion from the fallen Pineco.

I quickly hit it with a pokeball and a flash of light shot from the pokeball as it snapped open then closed as the light shot back in dragging the Pineco inside. The ball wiggled a bit then a strange light flashed on the ball as if someone had shone a flashlight at it. I walked over and picked it up. On the outside I was a man in power armor holding a pokeball but inside I was barely holding it together as the only reason my hands weren't shaking was because of the armor.

I had just caught a Pokemon, something pretty much everyone that new Pokemon had wanted to do at least once. I was in the Pokemon world and now had a Pokemon. This was amazing, the only reasons I wasn't nerding out was because I simply couldn't here. Once I got somewhere safe and removed the armor I was sure I'd freak out. For now I needed to keep moving. I had goals here and technology was a big part of those plans.

I palmed the pokeball then hit the release. The Pineco appeared in a flash and looked at me weirdly. Two small white eyes in a shadow on a pinecone squinted looking at the creature that had caught it. I looked back at the Pineco and said "Hello Pineco, I'm your new trainer, I hope we get along well."

Pineco simply blinked then let out a soft creaking noise. I took that as an affirmative and held out a hand.

It did a weird wiggle and put the tip of its spike in my hand. I lifted my hand away but the Pineco followed as it had used its adhesive sap to stick to me. This was inconvenient. I walked to a tree and snapped of a branch. "Pineco put some sap on this end of the branch please." With a small pai it shot some sap from somewhere and hit the branch.

I moved the branch and stuck it to my back then moved Pineco to the top of the branch. I continued walking for the rest of the day and eventually made it to Viridian city where I used the last of my money to pay for a room in a hotel. I removed my armor, plugged up my batteries and hung Pineco near the window after giving it some normal food. I showered and hit the hay. Despite the armor I was dead tired, my stamina drained as I hadn't trained myself much. I conked out a few minutes after lying down and hoped for another good day in this new world.
