Chapter 4 - Green Trees

I stepped out of the hotel and into the streets after waking up. I was getting lots of weird looks now as it was daytime and people could see the strange armored figure with a branch glued to his back. Pineco was in its pokeball so I tore off the branch and tossed it into the nearby bushes. Today I was going to the library I had spotted on a map last night. I needed knowledge of this world that I couldn't get in my past life. After getting the knowledge I needed I'd train myself and my Pokemon while traveling. I quickly found the library which stood out from the buildings around it. I wandered the library for a while till I had a stack of books on basic knowledge and Pokemon.

I sat and read for a few hours about this world till I got hungry. Before leaving I plugged into a computer and downloaded everything I could then left to get food. On my way here I had foraged many berries and mushrooms so I sold them and used the money to get myself some food and supplies. While eating and feeding Pineco I went over what I had found in the library.

This Pokemon world was more deadly than the anime or manga. The only reason this area was safe was because Kanto was protected by the equally deadly rangers. They brutally annihilate anything that threatens the peace of the cities and hunt down any dangerous wild Pokemon. They were also the reason why most gangs like team rocket can't expand well.

They also had access to some of the greatest technology this world had to offer. It was why people only looked at me strangely, they thought I was a ranger. The rangers were known to be a distant, solitary group who usually stayed out of the public eye. On the downloaded data I got was a video of a ranger in strange armor with a full Pokemon team fighting a small stampede. That was another thing, Pokemon stampedes. They were a common occurrence among the wilds, powerful Pokemon would fight and destroy an area and weaker Pokemon would flee. Stampedes had been brutally suppressed by rangers in the past whenever they threatened cities or towns.

After eating I began looking for a proper map. I wanted to find places that might have valuable knowledge or resources I could take. A few minutes later I found a map and was heading to a place on the edge of the forest. The research center here was messing in the forest and likely had a lot of useful knowledge about bug types. It took about 30 minutes to get there but I hadn't been tired by the long walk.

The building was low and long, with a perimeter fence and guards patrolling. I scouted from the forest edge and eventually found a back entrance. I scaled a tree and leapt over the fence landing with a roll. I dashed to the building and slipped my plasma blade through the deadbolt of the door. With a twist of the handle I pulled the door open and got inside.

I found myself in a storage room of sorts and started looking around. I found the door on the other side of the room with a ledger hanging on the wall beside it. I skimmed over the ledger and found some useful stuff. One box I quickly looted had items found in the forest. I got 4 potions, 2 full restores, a leaf stone, a max ether, TM015 struggle bug, TM182 bug bite, TM111 giga drain, and a TM08 hyper beam, three magnets, an exp share, five protective pads, a scope lens, a zoom lens, an assault vest, an expert belt, eight antidotes, a single max revive, a bottle of iron pills, five max repels, and a box of net balls. These were all great items and some held potential for bettering my armor and knowledge. The TMs were great as I liked overpowering my opponents in battles and having tanky Pokemon.

There were a few boxes with other items that I could sell but I'd only take them if I had the time and space to do so. Having looted some stuff I peaked out the door of the room and found an empty hallway with some doors. With my armors sensors fully activated I slowly made my way through the building. I found many rooms with different things but the one that caught my interest was an enclosure.

I could see inside via viewing windows that were armored and reinforced as the enclosure held a massive bee hive. I could see many Kakuna hanging in the artificial trees, some Beedrill flying around and some weedle crawling near the hive. I definitely wasnt going in there. I had no intention of getting stung by foot long stingers. I continued on through the building and found another type of storage room. Within the storage room sat boxes with silk thread wrapped around small cylinders.

This place was harvesting silk from string shot to fund themselves which was pretty smart. To bad for them however as I grabbed as much as my Pokétch bag could hold. High quality silk would be nice to sell. After stealing some silk I continued searching the building. I had to dodge people sometimes but it was easy with my armors sensors. I eventually found some kind of server room and immediately plugged into it.

It took a few hours but I left with lots of info on the forest and the bug types within. With what I'd been aiming to get I retraced my steps till I was back in the storage room I'd entered from. With a peak out the back door I grabbed a box of berries, mushrooms, and potions. I ran to the fence and quickly shot a grapple to the nearest tree and used that to help me climb the fence. I jumped down and disappeared into the forest just as a guard rounded the building looking for the source of the bang. I circled back to town and sold of the berries and mushrooms then looked for a place to sell the silk.

It wasn't very hard to find a small team rocket base hidden near the forest and sell the silk. I made my way out of the city to the entrance of the path through the forest that should lead to Pewter city.

The forest was normally hard to navigate but with the systems of my armor navigation was easy. The Pokemon here also weren't all that dangerous unless you went deep into the wilderness. I let Pinco out and we fought many weaker Pokemon as we traveled deeper into the forest. Near nightfall I climbed into a bigger tree and tied myself to it.

I set Pineco in the branch above me and activated the security systems of my armor. I straightened out on the branch and got as comfortable as I could then passed out.

I woke to the dim lighting of the forest and resumed my journey to pewter city. While traveling I continued to train Pineco. Based on the info I had stolen Pineco had already learned all Pineco moves except

double-edge. That was fine as I didn't like recoil damage moves and knowing most of his move set ment he was probably near evolution.

Around an hour into the walk the forest went quiet. I knew that this usually ment there was something dangerous near so I readied myself and Pineco. There was suddenly a yellow blur from my right as I was hit and thrown into a tree hard enough to smash into it and get sprayed with water and sap. The next attack to hit me was a bolt of lightning, it splashed on my armor and immediately put my batteries at full then was grounded by the metal cleats on my boots which are connected to the metal of my armor to make me immune to electricity as my armor is completely metal and has a small metal weave in the fabric of the coat.

I slowly stood up with some creaking in my armor. Pineco was locked in combat with a pikachu right in front of me. He had battled enough to fight on his own but I still started giving commands. I immediately ordered Pineco to use spikes, the ground type entry hazard move to cover the ground around us in small stone caltrops. With Pineco battering the pikachu and spikes affecting it we ended the battle with a quick knockout by bug bite. I used a pokeball and captured the pikachu easily as it was unconscious.

After the battle I got out of the armor and had to reshape some plating and straighten some skeletal structure as a lot had been bent by the pikachus hit. I also had to fix some batteries as they had been slightly burnt by the extreme amount of electricity hitting me.

My second day in Viridian forest ended much quicker than my first as I spent time fixing my armor. I ended my day like the previous and slept in a tree with Pineco watching over me.
