Chapter 5 - UnnamedChapter 5: Shattering the Sky of New York with a Punch

Hawke stared in amazement as the sky above Manhattan was torn apart, revealing an infinite darkness.

Above Manhattan, a faint blue light shot up into the sky, continuously shooting into the gap in the sky, as if a new space had been opened.

The space above was as if violently torn apart by an invisible hand, and the edges constantly flickered with a faint blue light and sizzled.

Hawke subconsciously cast his gaze to his right hand.

But the next second,he realized.

No,the sky wasn't torn apart by him, but by the Space Stone.

  2012.

  Chitauri Invasion!

Hawke's mind flashed, and he thought of the present timeline. With a swish, his gaze returned to the torn sky.

As expected,as the Space Gate opened above Manhattan, the Chitauri soldiers, like a swarm of metallic locusts, poured out through the Space Gate, seemingly pouring out.

  Suddenly, they surged out!

The Zetawi soldiers arrived on Earth from the space gate, riding in streamlined, single-person aircraft gleaming with a cold, sharp gleam.

Their engines emitted a sharp, teeth-piercing hum, and their dark alloy armor tightly wrapped around their inhuman bodies.

  Boom!

As the first Chitawi soldier triggered his energy weapon, the glass curtain walls of Manhattan's skyscrapers were instantly pierced and exploded.

  "Wow!"

  "Attack!"

  "Invade, invade!"

  "Kill them!"

The swarming Chitawi soldiers roared excitedly, and after pouring out of the wormhole, they quickly determined their respective missions.

Some Chitawi soldiers lowered their aircraft and flew towards the streets of Manhattan.

Others raised their aircraft, confirmed their attack direction in the air, and then swept towards Brooklyn.

  Of course,

Queens was also within the Chitawi attack range.

  "Hou Ni Shet!"

  "What is that?"

  "Aliens are invading Earth?"

  "They're coming our way!"

  "Hiss!"

  "God!"

  "Run!"

  "Ah!"

Like the already chaotic Manhattan, the residents of Queens, upon seeing the Chitauri firing their energy weapons indiscriminately, blasting through buildings, setting cars on fire, and even killing civilians, let out shrill screams and ran in whatever direction they deemed safe.

  The Chitauri's cries.

  The crashing of buildings.

The blazing roar of cars being shot at.

The wails of slain civilians, the cries of panicked men—at that moment, the entire city of New York was engulfed in a cacophony of panic.

Hawke, standing on the rooftop, instinctively turned to return to his apartment.

But at that moment, he suddenly stopped, as if thinking of something. Then, turning again, he looked up at the sky.

Now, like a swarm of locusts, the Chitauri were swarming towards Queens.

A Chitauri soldier, screaming and whistling in his flying craft, also spotted Hawke standing on the rooftop.

After all, invaders love nothing more than to see the people screaming and wailing helplessly as they try to escape their clutches.

So, while everyone else was fleeing in panic, Hawke stood there, motionless, making it hard not to notice.

  Their eyes met.

A star glimmered in Hawke's azure eyes.

  "Human!"

The Zetawi soldier stared at Hawke, his snake-like eyes hidden beneath a dark alloy visor, as if receiving a signal.

He separated from his unit and, piloting his own aircraft, swooped down towards Hawke on the rooftop.

The moment they met, they unleashed a barrage of energy blasts.

Energy imbued with destructive energy converged at the front of the aircraft, instantly solidifying and unleashing it towards Hawke.

Hawke's pupils constricted as he watched the rapidly expanding energy blast in his sight.

  Boom!

The energy blast crashed into the rooftop floor, shattering it instantly with a resounding explosion and a cloud of dust.

The Zetawi soldier watched Hawke, who had emerged unscathed on the other side the instant the blast landed, and without expression, he pulled the trigger again.

  "Bang, bang, bang!"

  "Boom, boom, boom!"

The apartment rooftop seemed to be facing its end as the Zetawi soldiers bombarded it with energy blasts.

  Debris flew and

  dust filled the sky.

Hawke's figure weaved back and forth through the dust, dodging the Chitauri's energy blast after energy blast.

His form shifted swiftly beneath the Chitauri's energy blasts.

Initially panicked, Hawke had calmed down and was now at ease.

It took him less than a minute.

  Saints, born for war.

  The Chitauri fired relentlessly.

  "Bang, bang!"

With a resounding sound, the soldier, who had been firing energy blasts, suddenly paused, looking down at his aircraft, which had emptied its magazine.

Just then,the wind whistled.

The Chitauri soldier looked up and saw a shattered steel plate from a water tank whizzing through the dust. With a thud, it slammed into his aircraft.

The aircraft, struck by the shattered steel, swung, and the Chitauri soldier aboard instinctively flew away, only to fall from the aircraft.

  "Bang!"

  "Hiss!"

The Zetawi soldier who had fallen to the rooftop quickly rose to his feet, drawing his weapon, which resembled a gun but also powered by a dark green energy source.

  "Hiss, hiss, hiss!"

The Zetawi soldier made an incomprehensible sound, as if he were saying something, or perhaps communicating with his own tribe.

Hawke didn't quite understand what the Zetawi soldier was doing, but he didn't care much.

After all this was a fight, so he took it seriously!

By now, the apartment rooftop had been shattered by the Zetawi's frenzied assault.

While it hadn't collapsed yet, it was practically a collapse.

Most of the rooftop had already collapsed, and some had even continued to collapse to the third floor, revealing the entirety of the apartment.

However, no one noticed what was happening on the rooftop.

New Yorkers may not be good at other things, but when it comes to saving their lives, no one knows how to do it better than them.

After all, New Yorkers, raised amidst countless shootings and terrorist attacks, have long since honed their instincts to turn their heads and save their lives when danger strikes.

The dust on the rooftop gradually cleared.

  Soon,

  Hawke appeared.

The Chitauri soldier looked at Hawke, his green eyes flashing with a cold light, and he instantly pulled the trigger.

  "Go to hell!"

  "..."
