Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Job of the "Exclusive Assistant"

The transparent glass elevator took An Luowei straight to the 108th floor. The extremely fast speed made her stomach flutter a little, but it was mainly due to tension.

Jing.

The elevator door opened.

Unlike the other floors that were noisy with the sounds of keyboards and people, the 108th floor was eerily quiet. The entire space was only a cold silver gray and black color, without a single decorative plant. There was only a single desk placed outside the giant ebony main door.

Assistant Zhang, who had given her the contract at the hospital, stood up. His expression was extremely complicated, a little sympathetic, but also a little respectful.

"Miss An... no, Young Madam."

"Just call me An Luowei." She interrupted, she hated that title.

Assistant Zhang coughed: "Miss An, President Lu is waiting for you."

An Luowei took a deep breath. She knocked on the door.

"Come in."

A deep, cold voice penetrated the thick door.

An Luowei pushed the door open and entered. This room was even bigger than his living room. A wall made entirely of glass, overlooking the entire S city from above, giving off a feeling of absolute dominance.

Lu Beichen was sitting behind a huge desk, as big as a mini helipad. He didn't raise his head, just focused on signing a series of documents. The sound of the fountain pen scratching on the paper was the only sound in the room.

He deliberately ignored her. A psychological trick to put others down.

An Luowei stood in the middle of the room, feeling incredibly small. She waited. One minute. Two minutes.

Her patience was exhausted.

"President Lu," she took the initiative to speak, "What does the title 'Exclusive Design Assistant' mean?"

Swish. He signed the last document.

Lu Beichen raised his head. His eyes were as sharp as a knife, piercing straight through her. "It's what it says on the surface."

"You!" An Luowei was furious. "You're making me a laughing stock for the entire company! Everyone is whispering! You already have me at home taking care of your son, why did you drag me up here?"

"Oh?" Lu Beichen stood up. He was tall, his shadow covering her. "You said 'my son'?"

An Luowei was stunned.

He stepped forward, approaching. The cold cedar scent on his body rushed into her nose. "Tian'en called you 'mother'. Then whose son is he?"

"That... that's the contract!"

"The contract has been signed. It is legally valid." He curled his lips. "And who dares to laugh at my Lu Beichen people?"

Lu Beichen's inner thoughts: 'Thirty thousand years ago, it was because I left you alone in the Peach Garden, letting you be harmed by Su Jin. In this life, you must be in my sight 24/7. No one is allowed to touch a single hair on you.'

"Then what is my job?" An Luo Wei tried to back away. "I don't think you pay me just to stand here."

"Of course I have a job." He calmly turned back to the table, pointing to a corner of the room.

There was a smaller desk, but it was obviously also very expensive. Next to it was a lazy sofa and an easel. It looked more like a relaxing corner than a workplace.

"Your place is over there."

"That is...?"

"Your job," Lu Beichen said, "is to stay within my sight. When I need you, I'll call. When I don't, you can draw, read, or do whatever you want. As long as you don't leave this office without my permission."

An Luowei's mouth fell open.

"Are you... are you sick? This is... this is house arrest!"

"You can call it 'protection'."

"I don't need it!"

"I didn't ask for your opinion."

At this moment, the intercom on his desk rang. He picked it up: "Bring it here."

A moment later, Mrs. Li (housekeeper) whom she met last night pushed in a small service cart.

"President Lu, young madam, this is breakfast... please."

On the cart was a bowl of hot bird's nest porridge, a few steamers of exquisite dim sum, and a glass of warm almond milk.

An Luo Wei was stunned. "Extra breakfast? I... I ate breakfast at home!"

Lu Bei Chen glanced at her, his eyes dissatisfied. "You called two sandwiches and half a glass of milk breakfast?"

"How... how did you know?!" An Luo Wei was shocked. He installed a camera in the dining room?

"Mrs. Li reported." He was calm. "You're too skinny."

This sentence, "You're too skinny", was exactly like an accusation.

Lu Bei Chen's inner thoughts: 'In your previous life, you were so weak, your immortal power was exhausted, so Su Jin could easily harm you. In this life, I have to 'feed' you back. I have to feed you really fat.'

"Sit down." He ordered. "Your first job today. Eat it all."

"I'm not hungry!"

"This is an order. You're my assistant." Lu Bei Chen frowned, his patience was running out. "Or do you want me to… feed you?"

An Luo Wei stared at Lu Bei Chen. He wasn't joking. Assistant Zhang and Mrs. Li were standing at the door, trying to lower their heads to hide their shock.

This was clearly an insult! He had turned her into a pet, brought her to the office, and now even supervised her meals!

She clenched her fists, so angry that her eyes were red. But… she couldn't resist.

She was Mrs. Lu in name, but in reality, she was his employee.

She sat down at her "exclusive" table with a huff. Under the "Tyrant's" watchful gaze, An Luo Wei began to eat her "breakfast"
