Chapter 7: Blaming Herself
"It seems your ability is quite extraordinary. Perhaps when you're a bit older, the full scope of your powers will manifest," Aiden said.
"I think so too. By the way, what are your abilities?" Danny nodded, then looked at Aiden and Jean with curiosity.
Hearing this, Aiden smiled, then raised his hand, and a book by his bed flew up into the air, hovering in front of him.
Without him doing anything, the book began to turn its pages automatically.
"Wow, that ability is so cool."
At the same time, Jean also activated her telekinesis.
Immediately, many objects in the room began to float in the air, as if there was no gravity in the room.
And just as Jean released her telekinesis, two different telekinetic forces unconsciously reacted in some way. Aiden distinctly felt a powerful pressure.
It was as if a heavy hammer had struck his head, making his consciousness instantly muddled.
Thump... Beside him, Danny fell straight down without any warning, immediately falling into a baby-like sleep.
Seeing this, Jean immediately withdrew her telekinesis.
"Aiden, are you alright? I, I didn't mean to!" Jean asked anxiously, her eyes red, as if she was about to cry at any moment.
"No, I'm fine." Aiden gritted his teeth, enduring the throbbing pain in his head, and forced a strained smile.
"I'm, I'm sorry, Aiden, it's all my fault." Jean seemed to know that her ability had caused Aiden's condition. She lowered her head, not daring to look at Aiden, and then simply ran out.
"Aiden, are you alright?"
Suddenly, a voice sounded in his mind; it was Charles.
"Professor? Don't worry, I'm fine." Aiden endured the mental throbbing pain and responded to Charles with difficulty.
"It was my oversight. I was having a pleasant chat with Mr. Edwin and didn't stop the impact of Jean's telekinesis on you all," Charles said, his tone full of self-reproach.
Aiden caught on to something. He asked with difficulty, "Professor, are you saying you've been blocking the mental impact when Jean releases her telekinesis?"
"Hmm, yes. Jean's ability is naturally powerful, and when she releases her telekinesis, it always comes with a mental impact. Before you came to the Academy, Jean often caused students to faint."
No wonder in the original story, even at Mutant Academy, Jean was ostracized by other Mutant students. So that's why.
"Professor, what you're doing is completely useless. Instead of constantly blocking Jean's mental impact, it would be better to let Jean actively learn to control her own strength."
"I know, but…"
"Leave this to me. Jean's mental impact can Just right have a training effect on my ability, and I can also teach Jean to get familiar with her own ability."
Charles on the other side was silent for a while before responding, "Alright, remember to exercise caution and don't let yourself get hurt. As for the others, I will continue to watch. Once Jean has mastered her ability, I will completely withdraw the interception."
"Hmm, alright."
As soon as he finished speaking, he could no longer support himself and lay down on the bed, falling into a drowsy sleep.
The next morning, as soon as it was light, Aiden woke up.
Opening his eyes, Aiden felt that the dizziness and throbbing pain in his head from last night had completely disappeared.
Moreover, he felt his brain was clearer than yesterday, and his thoughts were very active.
With a thought, his telekinesis quickly extended outwards.
In an instant, a circular area with a diameter of seven or eight meters appeared in Aiden's mind.
This was a new kind of vision; he didn't need to use his eyes to perceive everything within this circle and hear all sounds.
"The range of my telekinesis has indeed increased, and by so much," Aiden felt a surge of joy.
Then he began to test the strength of his telekinesis.
As he manipulated the bedside lamp, making it float in the air in various trajectories.
It was not until several tens of minutes later that he felt a slight fatigue in his mind.
His telekinesis had clearly increased severalfold.
Clearly, Aiden had already anticipated this last night.
After experiencing Jean's mental pressure, his own mental strength had grown as a result.
In contrast, Danny, whose mental strength was at an ordinary human level, fell straight down on the spot, clearly having little mental resistance.
And he himself, because he had the same telekinesis as Jean and his mental strength far exceeded that of ordinary people, only felt dizziness and throbbing pain.
Although he eventually fainted, compared to simply lifting heavy objects with telekinesis, the former's training effect was undoubtedly much better.
After getting dressed and washing up, Aiden looked at Danny on the other bed.
Although Danny seemed like a little gentleman last night, his sleeping posture was truly not good.
At this moment, he was lying with his mouth open, drooling, clinging to his pillow like an octopus, refusing to let go.
"Danny, get up quickly, it's time for breakfast." Aiden nudged Danny.
"Ugh…" Danny sat up groggily, his eyes unfocused, clearly still half-asleep.
"Hey, snap out of it." Aiden waved his hand in front of Danny, and only then did his eyes begin to focus.
"Was I hit on the head last night? Why does my head hurt so much!" Danny rubbed his forehead, grimacing in pain, after he came to his senses.
"Uh, you probably fell," Aiden didn't know how to explain, so he just made something up.
"Really? Then why don't I remember?"
"Uh, you might have senile dementia."
"But I'm only 9 this year!"
"Never mind that, hurry up and wash up, then let's go eat together."
He pushed Danny to wash up, which took a long time, before pulling the groggy Danny to the cafeteria.
As soon as he arrived at the cafeteria, Aiden noticed several gazes falling on them.
At the same time, Aiden vaguely felt an invisible force brush past Danny beside him. The next moment, the originally groggy Danny shook his head, and his eyes became clear.
Clearly, that was Charles acting, using his mental power to soothe Danny's mental trauma.
Aiden gave Charles a grateful look, then his gaze shifted to a certain direction.
As soon as he looked over, Aiden saw a small head quickly duck down.
With that fiery red hair, who else could it be but Jean.
"Danny, go get a plate over there for food," Aiden reminded Danny, then quickly walked to the opposite side of Jean and sat down directly.
"Why didn't you get me food today?" Aiden asked with a smile.
However, Jean still kept her head down and didn't respond to Aiden's question.
Seeing this, Aiden understood that the girl was blaming herself for accidentally hurting him last night.
Perhaps if she had accidentally hurt someone else, the girl might not have been so remorseful, at most she would have been ostracized.
But having spent more than two months with Aiden, the young girl had clearly come to consider Aiden a friend, perhaps her only friend.
Hurting a good friend was a significant blow to the sensitive Jean.
"What's wrong? I'm perfectly fine, aren't I? And thanks to you, my ability has grown stronger!" Aiden said gently.
Hearing Aiden's voice, Jean slowly raised her head, her sapphire-like eyes already filled with tears.
"I'm, I'm sorry, Aiden, it's all my fault."
