Chapter 5 - Heart breaks.

I sat outside for about 45 minutes before retreating to my private room the space that allows me to breathe amid the heaviness of this house.

It's a baby's room, filled with items that create a sense of hope amidst my struggles:

Rocking chair

Crib bedding

Firm flat mattress

Nursery rug

Mobile

Swaddles

Changing table

At the end of each month, I find myself buying baby clothes, even though I am unable to conceive.

Today, I battled tears more than usual; perhaps it's because I've grown accustomed to the infidelities of my bastard husband, who I can only describe as a source of deep pain in my life.

What makes today uniquely painful?

It could be the double betrayal I've faced: first from Mr. Bon ex-wife, and now, I saw myself with my own eyes of my presumed sister-in-law in bed with him.

The heartbreak feels insurmountable, but I continue to seek solace in my sanctuary.

TWO HOURS LATER..

I heard footsteps approaching the room and quickly hid myself.

To my surprise, it was Nancy on the phone.

"The plan is progressing, Mom. This fool trusts me more than his own wife now. Soon, I will take control of the company and all his assets will be mine," she said confidently.

"Oh," I gasped in disbelief.

"I've figured out all the passwords for his multiple accounts. We're going to live a life of luxury," she continued before leaving.

I was left in shock, unable to move.

I don't love my bastard husband but i knew i was the only one to save him.

I went downstairs and encountered Nancy in the kitchen, filling a glass with water.

"I'm tired of being fucked up," I said, my frustration evident.

Nancy looked at me in shock.

"What do you mean, sister-in-law?" she asked.

"Don't ever call me that. Just don't upset me," I snapped back.

"Mh! I'm leaving now; I don't want to argue with you," she replied, but I couldn't stop myself and hit the table with a loud thud

Thud!

Thud!

"I know all your plans, and I will put a stop to them," I said angrily.

"What plans are you talking about?" she probed, a hint of secrecy in her voice.

Nancy then discreetly called William, who answered immediately.

Unbeknownst to me, he was now listening in.

"I'll tell William that you're planning to take all of his assets," I continued, fueled by anger.

"You're lying to him; you never truly loved him. You're just using him to get what you want. And I will prove it."

William stormed over, his face a mask of fury, seemingly unable to comprehend the situation.

I glanced at him and, feeling the weight of his glare, asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

I felt the urgency to speak, adding, "William, I need to tell you something important before I forget,"

"Nancy is planning to take you for everything you have; she is not trustworthy. I just overheard her talking to her mother about it," i added

In response, William struck me sharply across the face.

Pah!

The sound echoed in the air, and I instinctively touched my cheek, tears beginning to gather in my eyes.

"How dare you tell me this nonsense!" he shouted.

He struck me again, and then again.

Today, I felt utterly alone; my usual saviour was absent.

Meanwhile, Nancy stood off to the side, her smile betraying an unsettling satisfaction as she watched.

After a while she said, "Babe, it's enough now. Let's go. I'm sure she would never say something like that, don't you agree, Ella?"

I hesitated before responding, "Yes, I—I won't."

"Very good, dear!" she replied with a strained enthusiasm before leaving me behind.

As I stood there, I was plagued by a deep sense of anguish.

A servant approached, applying medicine to my bruises, but each touch only amplified my pain both physical and emotional.

Anger simmered within me, and a desire for revenge flickered at the edges of my thoughts.

Minutes passed, and the confines of home felt stifling.

I needed to escape, to confide in someone.

My mind quickly turned to Bon.

Determined, I put on my sunglasses and wrapped a scarf around my face, desperately trying to mask the evidence of my distress.

While walking down the road with my head lowered, I was desperate to conceal the bruises that told a silent story of pain.

When I reached the gate of his house, my heart sank upon seeing Bon in the distance.

He was embracing a striking woman, and next to her lay a suitcase.

All my strength evaporated in that moment, and tears streamed down my face.

The sight of them was overwhelming.

She kissed him passionately before turning and heading inside the house.

Frozen in place, I couldn't bring myself to look away.
