I was jolted by my phone ringing loudly.
ring!!
ring!!
As I glanced at the screen, I saw it was my younger sister calling.
I answered without hesitation.
"Hello, sis," she said, her voice filled with concern.
"What's going on?" I replied.
"Have you seen the latest news?" she asked.
At that moment, I sat up straight, my feet searching for my slippers.
I didn't want to disturb Bon, who was sleeping peacefully beside me.
"What news?" I inquired, a sense of unease creeping in.
"You're the headline in every newspaper! They're reporting on a billionaire's wife having an affair with an ex-cop!" she exclaimed.
"There's even a photo of you hugging a man!"
"Oh my gosh! Has Mom seen this?" I asked, panic rising in my voice.
"First, where are you right now?" she pressed.
"At the hotel," I replied.
"So it's true," she stated, her tone changing.
"But he's a handsome guy," she added quickly.
"What?! Please clarify," I said, still in shock.
"I can't let her see this news, she would have a heart attack!" she insisted.
"Okay, I'll handle this," I assured her, determined to resolve the situation..
As I wandered around, tapping my phone against my arm, I tried to gather my thoughts.
''Alright, let's tackle the first task," I decided.
After a quick shower and getting dressed, I opted for a light touch of makeup.
Before heading out, I took a moment to write a sweet note for Bon.
Returning to the mansion, I was greeted by the ever-enthusiastic gateman.
"Welcome, ma'am!" he exclaimed.
"Thanks!"I replied with a smile.
"You look lovely as always!"he added, and I couldn't help but blush.
"Thanks," I said again, feeling a bit flattered as I made my way inside the house.
Just as I was about to step onto the first staircase, the maid approached me, looking a bit anxious.
"Please don't go; the lady will chop my head off!"she implored.
"What's going on, Maggie?" I asked concerned.
"The side chick has been here since yesterday, celebrating,"she revealed.
I chuckled, "Well, you've addressed her correctly, Maggie!"
And just like that, my day was off to an intriguing start.
As my heels echoed on the staircase and through the hallway.
I approached the door and opened it.
"Who has the audacity to interrupt me?" she exclaimed.
"I see you're enjoying all the fun you wanted," I replied, glancing at the situation.
It was clear she had activated the high-end system; bubbles danced in the jacuzzi.
Her surprise at my presence was unmistakable.
"Who let you in?" she demanded.
"This is my house. Don't ever forget that I'm the wife, not a side chick," I responded firmly.
For a moment, she was left speechless.
I took the opportunity to change my clothes and touch up my makeup before stepping out once again.
William inquired, "Sir, has my lawyer arrived yet?"
This marked the thirtieth time he had posed the same question to the guard.
Despite the repetitive nature of the inquiry, the guard remained patient.
"Not yet," he replied.
A mere five minutes later.
William repeated his question, asking Nancy, "Why are you doing this to me?"
"No," he responded.
His desperation was palpable.
When I arrived at the police station, I headed straight to the prosecuting attorney's office to withdraw all charges against him.
He appeared surprised, yet he understood my reasons.
He handed me his business card and advised me to call him if he ever laid a finger on me again.
"Thank you," I replied, and about 20 minutes later, he was free to go.
As he walked out, the guard announced, "Hey, you're free to go."
With a sense of pride, he remarked, "I knew Nancy would never leave me here."
The guard quickly corrected him, saying, "No, you idiot. You're lucky your wife came to withdraw the charges. Next time, think twice before you hit her."
The words struck a chord, he had a heart break look on his face.
As he approached me, he walked with his head down, avoiding eye contact.
"Um—" he began.
But before he could finish, I cut him off, stating firmly, "The chauffeur is waiting outside."
