It had been five days since her rebirth, and Baiye wondered why the heavens hadn't responded in any way for breaking the rule and reviving a dead God. The God Realm had been destroyed so thoroughly that even with divine magic, it would take years to rebuild.
Yaoqin was still out there investigating what had happened, while Baiye never left her side for even a minute, anticipating the moment she would open her eyes again.
She would open her mouth soon to tell him what went wrong, and he had promised to be the one to avenge her death.
He dipped the white cloth once again inside the bowl of water, squeezed it gently before placing it on her forehead to calm her fever. He had been in this room with her unconscious form for five days and nights, cleaning every bit of blood from her body, trying his best to subdue her burning fever, transferring power to all her spiritual roots and veins in a vain attempt to revive them.
Her God seal had been taken from her, and even with his level of cultivation, he couldn't fix her damaged God vessels and roots. His priority was on restoring all her immortal essence and preventing her from waking up as an ordinary being, a mortal.
He stood by her side, denying himself rest and hoping for the moment she would pull through from whatever was pulling her back from living again.
''Master!''
Yaoqin materialized in the room and fell on his knees to bring reports of his five day investigation to him.
''I was able to capture an injured demon from the rubble of the God realm.''
A demon?
Baiye turned, his expression slightly disturbed. He turned to his unconscious girl beside him and instantly had this sickening feeling of what might have happened.
''Don't you dare fill me with nonsense.''
How was it possible for the demons to invade a place as sacred and heavily guarded as the God Realm? The demons had no such power and could never win in a fight against thousands of divine beings.
''I dare not, Master.'' Yaoqin bowed his head even lower. ''I found him alive, crawling near one of the many sublime gates, and also trying to heal himself with the powers he has left. Please believe me, Master.''
The Lonely God found that hard to believe. They can never be so sure it was the Fourth Realm that destroyed the God Realm to what it was now until he confirmed it himself. Now that the involvement of demons had been revealed to him, he doubted Yuerong would open up to him when she was conscious.
''Where's the demon?''
''I have him bound and ready before your throne, awaiting your interrogation.''
The Lonely God nodded before rising to his feet and turning to see her one last time before he left the room with Yaoqin.
The demon captured by the divine phoenix stared agape at the vast red-and-white hall of the Red Central Tower.
He and his people had always considered this place a myth as it was not always visible to everyone. Rumors have it that their Dark Lord once grew up here as an orphaned Red immortal with very little spiritual power before he left with a girl to the God realm.
The hall was massive and surreal. The marbled floors could outshine a mirror in revealing what he looked like. The large, tall red pillars were partly covered with this eerie fog that strangely brought calmness to his soul. He was yet to be dazzled when the infamous Lonely God strolled in with the divine beast that arrested and suppressed most of his demonic powers that could be useful in his escape from here.
The demon's eyeballs grew larger than the bottom of a pot as his busted lips fell apart at the sight of beauty and perfection.
As the divine figure moved toward him, those pale, smooth feet parted the fog clouding his path and captivated the demon in ways that could not be put into words.
He tried not to blink too fast so he wouldn't be awakened from this daydream.
Not many had been fortunate enough to see the rumored Lonely God, or at least lived long enough to testify of his might and beauty.
The phantom God moved past him as he drooled from his mouth, not able to take his eyes of this enigma as he turned and watched it move up the white, foggy steps to stand behind an impressive golden statue of a God that resembled so much like the Goddess their Dark Lord deceived and killed.
His captor stood beside him and kicked him until the demon lowered his head before the Lonely God in submission.
The demon stared at the ground, painfully awaiting what was going to happen next to him. He was also interested to know why the Lonely God would capture an injured, dying demon like him and have him bound in the Red Central Tower.
There was no way anyone could be sure of his survival now that he has been dragged to a place people believed never existed.
In short, he was doomed and never going to see his wife and children ever again. Or live to see the day their Dark Lord would take over the entire Celestial space and the fourth realm would be in absolute control of the universe.
The demon swallowed. His heart racing in his chest as the silence and intense glares from that immaculate being watching him from above threatened to kill him sooner than the purpose he was brought in here as a prisoner.
''I heard you filthy things dared launch an attack on the God Realm five days ago.''
Even his voice….
…..was perfect.
The demon slowly raised his head to look at him again but groaned out when his captor forcefully brought his head back down as the weight of the divine beast's leg pressed down his nape hard.
''Where did you find such boldness from?''
The demon coughed out and groaned as the divine beast's cruelty was not making his multiple internal injuries and struggles better.
The Lonely God moved and settled on the regal dark throne before his idol.
''I thought you wayward immortals were only obsessed with enslaving the other immortals, refusing to give in to your sin and murdering the mortals,'' he continued, right after folding his legs on the dark cushion and then leaning on the left hand side of his throne. His pure white hands perched as he leaned his face on it, giving the trembling demon a look of disinterest.
''Normally, it's not my place to defend the integrity of the God Realm as I have never belonged there.''
Blood continued to trickle down the mouth of the demon as this sudden tightness in his chest intensified and he was this close to not being able to get a single drop of air down his lungs.
''But your savage attack on the God Realm almost ruined me…''
The gasping demon struggled to stare at the face of the Lonely God trying to comprehend what he meant by 'ruined me.'
If he remembered when they attacked the God realm correctly and slayed all Gods with the help of the stolen God seal of the Empress of the heavens, they never harmed anything or anyone that might associate with the invisible Red Tower or dared try to harm this haunting God in any way.
What then is he talking about?
''I almost lost everything,'' the Lonely God continued saying in that strange way and tongue. It confused the demon gravely.
His gaze turned to the demon now staring at him like the fool he was.
''You probably thought getting rid of the God realm would make you filthy brats automatic successor and ruler of the Celestial space.''
He thought about it for a while before continuing with, ''I personally do not care which race rules or dooms the Celestial space. I just want to know how you all managed to crawl your way in and destroy a reverend place like the God Realm.''
''And,'' he stressed, eyes locked on the demon as a small, active magical twirl in the likeness of a tornado casually spinned at the tip of his right index finger.
''How the Supreme God of the Celestial Space happen to die at the hands of you worthless trolls?''
