Chapter 6 - OTKE Chapter 6: Kindling Curiosity

"Pfft."

Enri, hiding behind her father, suddenly chuckled. Looking at Hades, who was flusteredly trying to explain, Enri said to Emert, "I don't think he's a bad person."

Hearing this, Hades quickly said, "Of course, I'm not a bad person. I just want to know where this place is..."

"Grumble~~~~~~~~"

Just as Hades was speaking, his stomach suddenly made a sound that embarrassed him. At the same time, his brain began to protest, and the feeling of hunger took over his body.

Emert lowered the pitchfork and said to Hades, "This is the border of the Re-Estize Kingdom. To the west is the Baharuth Empire. Let me guess, did you come from the Azerlisia Mountains?"

"I don't know. I remember having some drinks last night and going to sleep, and when I woke up, I was already here. I don't have any money on me now," Hades said, carefully choosing his words.

Randomly agreeing with the information in the other party's words might make him suspicious.

Maybe the other party was using some incorrect information to test him.

"Is that so?" Emert nodded, his expression softening. He said jokingly, "I was a little worried that you were a robber or something, but I don't think any robber would rob on an empty stomach, right? Although this village isn't rich, there are still many men who can fight."

Emert's words were both a joke and a warning.

"Believe me, I'm definitely not a robber," Hades said firmly.

But then his stomach made another "grumble" sound, and embarrassment crept onto his face.

"Hahaha..."

Enri covered her mouth and laughed behind Emert. Emert turned his head and glared at his daughter, then a smile appeared on his face as well, which made Hades even more embarrassed.

"Alright, I can offer you some food, but you have to leave here immediately. After all, strangers aren't very welcome in the village," Emert said.

Some things in the world are just that strange. Emert, who had been wary of Hades, lowered his guard after hearing his stomach growl twice from hunger.

Emert wasn't a cold person to begin with. If it were daytime, Hades wouldn't have been treated this way.

It had to be said that his timing for knocking on the door was a bit inappropriate. Almost everyone would be wary of strangers knocking on their door in the middle of the night.

"Thank you, but I don't have anywhere to go right now, so... could you give me a place to rest? Don't worry, I'll leave tomorrow," Hades said, rubbing his stomach.

If this were another real world, he had many things he wanted to ask about and didn't want to leave just like that. Besides, he didn't know where to go if he left.

He also needed to find a safe place to sort out the current information and calm himself down. Although he seemed calm now, his heart was far from peaceful.

"Hmm..." Emert stroked his beard, looked at the young man's pitiful appearance, and finally pointed to a building not far away.

"Sorry, although I don't think you're a bad person, I can't let a stranger stay in my house. That's the newly built livestock shed in the village. If you don't mind, you can stay there for the night."

Hades followed the direction Emert was pointing. It was a structure made of a few wooden boards surrounded by a thatched roof. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that it was completely drafty.

Hades swore that the worst place he had ever slept in was thousands of times better than this place, but clearly, this wasn't the time to be picky. Besides, his stomach was constantly protesting.

"Thank you very much," Hades said.

"Mm," Emert nodded and said to Enri behind him, "Go to the kitchen and get two pieces of bread."

"Okay, Papa," Enri replied cheerfully and turned to run into the house, looking a bit excited.

Soon, Enri came out of the house, but she didn't have bread in her hands. Instead, she was carrying a basket.

Emert glanced at it and was about to take the basket from Enri, but Enri went directly to Hades.

"Um, my name is Enri. What's your name?" Enri held the basket out to Hades.

"Uh, my name is... Hakimi..." Hades was about to say his name, but he suddenly stopped and made up a fake name based on the pronunciation.

The villagers' cautious attitude towards him, the fear that he was a bad person, proved that this world wasn't that safe. So, in the face of this unknown world, shouldn't he also be cautious?

Although he didn't know what risks revealing his name would bring in this world, the leaking of personal information was a very dangerous thing in his original world.

If personal information were leaked, you would face endless harassment, sales pitches for various products, carefully designed scams, and even things like kidnapping.

Because he didn't understand what the current environment was like, Hades had to be more careful.

"Ha...kimi?"

Enri tilted her head, feeling that the name was a bit awkward. It was the first time she had met a traveler.

Both his appearance and way of speaking were completely different from anyone she had ever seen.

Especially that greeting method of slapping himself in the face, which was as strange as the young man's name. This couldn't help but pique Enri's curiosity.

It had to be said that his handsome appearance didn't give a bad first impression. Enri had been a little scared after being warned by her father.

But the young man's greeting by slapping himself in the face and the embarrassment of his stomach growling made Enri instantly feel that this young man was a bit cute.

Although it wasn't love or love at first sight, for Enri, who had always lived in the countryside and had never seen the world, the young man's aura, which was different from anyone in the village, gave her great curiosity.

Therefore, she didn't follow her father's instructions to give the young man two pieces of bread, but secretly took some extra food, which could only be carried in a basket.

"Yes... Hakimi," Hades nodded, took the basket, and then looked at Emert and said, "I'll return the basket tomorrow."

Emert nodded and scolded his daughter, "What are you still doing there? Go inside and go to sleep."

He had originally thought that some things were too early for Enri, but after seeing his daughter's disappointing behavior, he was now considering whether to take her to E-Rantel one day to see the world and broaden her horizons.

To be so easily captivated by such a weak young man was truly embarrassing. Speaking of which, she was already sixteen years old. Time really flew by.

Emert shook his head, full of helplessness, and went into the house and closed the door tightly.

But he still felt uneasy and used the pitchfork to prop up the door. Even if the young man wasn't a bad person, his daughter would probably run to him wagging her tail if he just crooked his finger.

So he had to take precautions.

If Enri knew what her father was thinking at this moment, she would definitely complain. She didn't expect that in her father's eyes, she was such a shallow girl.

But right now, she was thinking about how to talk to the young man tomorrow and hear from him what the outside world was like.
