Chapter 7 - OTKE Chapter 7: World Item Awakening

Hades kicked open the waist-high door of the livestock shed, which was only half the size of a normal door. Immediately, the scent of hay wafted towards him. He greedily took a couple of deep breaths.

This pure, natural scent was rare in his world, and it could only be found in some high-end experience ranches.

However, the satisfaction from the scent was fleeting. What greeted his eyes was a dark and gloomy building, with only moonlight streaming in from the "gaps" in the roof and wooden walls.

Calling them "gaps" wasn't quite accurate, because the spaces between the roof and the walls were clearly intentionally left open for ventilation.

Therefore, apart from the piles of hay placed inside the livestock shed, there was no place to keep warm.

Hades carried the basket that Enri had given him and went to a pile of hay. He picked up a handful, brought it to his nose, and sniffed it. The hay didn't have any other strange smells.

Thankfully, the livestock shed hadn't been used yet. Apart from the smell of wood and hay, there were no strange odors.

Hades sat cross-legged on the hay pile on the ground. He lifted the linen cloth that covered the basket to prevent dust from falling in.

Inside were a few long, brown pieces of bread and a pottery container. Hades picked up the pottery container and shook it.

It contained liquid. Using the moonlight, he looked inside from the opening of the container. He could vaguely see something like beans under the cloudy liquid.

He sniffed it. Although it had an indescribable smell, he could smell the fragrance of beans and some saltiness.

It was probably a soup made from boiled beans. He picked up the wooden spoon in the basket and stirred it. The smell of the beans made his stomach feel even hungrier.

Even so, he really didn't dare to eat it. Although agriculture had almost collapsed in his world, it wasn't extinct after all. For the wealthy class, life hadn't changed much.

Hades had never eaten anything like this before. The indescribable, strange smell in the soup made him recoil.

But fortunately, there was bread. However, when he picked up the gray-brown bread, the feeling in his hand immediately made him realize something was wrong.

The bread was hard.

He gently squeezed it with his hand, but it didn't budge. Hades was stunned. Looking at the bean soup in the pottery container, he instantly understood the purpose of the soup.

Hades couldn't help but complain in his heart. If it weren't for this soup, he probably wouldn't be able to eat this bread.

It was a good thing that the girl named Enri was kind-hearted, otherwise his teeth would have been chipped.

He wasn't stupid. He naturally saw that Enri's father had originally only wanted to give him a few pieces of this bread that was as hard as a stone.

Even so, he couldn't complain. Being able to help a stranger who knocked on the door in the middle of the night was enough to show that Enri's father was kind.

Besides, maybe they weren't wealthy. Enri had clearly taken more food than her father had asked her to. Maybe she would be scolded for it later.

Thinking of this, he felt grateful. The bean soup with the strange smell didn't seem so unpalatable anymore.

Hades dipped the bread, which was comparable to a stone, in the bean soup and took a large bite with a loud "crunch." Unexpectedly, the bread felt hard to the touch, but it wasn't that difficult to chew.

It was just that the taste made him frown. However, in his hungry state, he couldn't care so much. Before long, the few pieces of bread were gone. Even the bean soup was poured into his stomach.

Rubbing his stomach, Hades leaned against the hay bale and quietly burped. The taste that came back up from his stomach made him frown again.

Although it was incredibly unappetizing in Hades' opinion, it had at least filled his stomach.

"So..."

Hades suddenly sat up straight, looked at the empty basket, rubbed his stomach, and licked his lips. The expression on his face suddenly collapsed.

"It really is the real world..."

Hades dejectedly confirmed this fact. Before, he had still been clinging to a glimmer of hope, thinking that it was just a device malfunction that had trapped him in the virtual world.

But no matter how realistic a virtual world was, it couldn't simulate eating. The senses of smell, taste, and swallowing were impossible to achieve in a virtual world.

Hades admitted that he had just been unwilling to face the truth. In fact, when he first arrived in this world, he had noticed a sense of smell that his virtual device couldn't simulate.

But it would be too ridiculous to conclude that he had come to another world based solely on his sense of smell. He needed to find evidence that he was trapped in the virtual world.

But with that slap and this meal, his illusions were completely shattered. Hades had the urge to cry, but reason told him that panicking wouldn't help his current situation.

"First is..."

Hades stood up and twisted his body. If the information that flashed through his mind when he was talking to Enri's father wasn't a hallucination, then, although he had come to another world, he seemed to have retained everything from YGGDRASIL.

He tried to bring up the character information panel again, and sure enough, in the next moment, a set of data appeared in his mind.

Character Name: Hahaha-Hades

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Justice Value: 200

Alignment: Good

Class Specialization: Warrior (Monk - Combat Specialization)

Classes: Monk 10, Inner Ki Monk 10, Outer Ki Monk 10, Ki Master 10, Dragon Breath Walker 5, Everlasting Death 5, Duelist 10, Duel Master 10, Peak Martial Artist 10, Champion 10, Unbeatable Warrior 5, Transcendent Realm 5.

Looking at this information, which was both strange and familiar, Hades suddenly remembered that he had flown down from the sky.

As a pure warrior class, he couldn't use any magic, but there was no problem if he used items.

Touching the "Flight Necklace" hanging inside his clothes, Hades paused for a moment and silently chanted "Activate" in his heart. He only wanted to test it out, but he didn't expect it to succeed immediately.

He felt his body become weightless and slowly float in the air. At the same time, he instantly understood how to control the flight in the depths of his consciousness.

He had experienced this feeling once at the beginning of his transmigration, because he was in a state of flight at that time, and he had ignored this "trivial" matter due to the drastic change in the environment.

After a moment, Hades stopped the flight effect. Then, after taking a few deep breaths, he looked seriously at the wrist of his right arm. His heart suddenly began to beat faster.

On his wrist, he wore a dark green wristband that clung tightly to his skin. This wristband was an item that didn't take up an equipment slot.

Although this item wasn't equipment, it was more important than equipment, because it was one of only two hundred World Items in YGGDRASIL: the "Seed of the World Tree".

Hades didn't know if this item would activate successfully. After all, something like changing race was too ridiculous in the real world.

No, if we're talking about ridiculous, flying was impossible in the real world with just a necklace.

Hades hadn't completely thought of this place as the real world before, but now that he thought about it carefully, from the very beginning, he had been in a state that was impossible in the real world.

"Activate."
