INT – CAR – NIGHT
Randy tries to escape while Ace and Eliza are locked in carriers in the car.
Randy knocks his carrier towards the back door and tells Ace and Eliza to knock on their carriers.
Ace and Eliza bang on their carriers and head toward Randy.
Randy reaches out of his carrier, uses his claw to pick the lock on the car door, and opens it.
They knock their carriers out of the car; the carriers break their fall.
Randy hits a trash bin; a hair dye container spills into his carrier.
Randy uses his claw to pick the lock on his carrier and open the door.
He limps out of his cage because his leg is hurting and releases Eliza and Ace.
Eliza and Ace notice Randy's fur has changed from black to purple due to the hair dye.
RANDY
What? What is it?
Eliza and Ace hold their breaths, trying not to laugh at Randy's funny look.
RANDY
Whatever. Sometimes, dogs like you can be a bit unusual.
Once Randy is far enough away, Eliza and Ace laugh.
EXT – STREETS – NIGHT
Randy, Eliza, and Ace try to find their way to the park to meet other dogs.
Randy looks at a window, but Eliza blocks him to prevent him from seeing his reflection.
ELIZA
Nothing to see here.
RANDY
Ok?
ELIZA
We can let him see how silly he looks.
ACE
What if he spots it in that broken mirror over there?
Eliza sees Randy heading for a broken mirror in someone's yard.
ELIZA
Distract him, and I'll get rid of the mirror.
Ace taps Randy's bruised leg, making him jump.
RANDY
Ouch. What'd you do that for?
ACE
Um, I just wanted your attention.
While Ace and Randy talk, Eliza knocks the broken mirror out of the way.
ELIZA
He wanted to tell you that we're just taking a rest by the side of the hill for a minute, especially since your leg is bruised.
Randy, Eliza, and Ace rest by the hillside; an artist painting nearby includes them in his work.
After resting, Eliza and Ace walk off while Randy limps after them.
ACE
You know it's only a matter of time before he realizes his fur is purple and not black anymore.
EXT – GWEN'S HOUSE – NIGHT
A human girl named Gwen sees how cute Randy looks and grabs him.
GWEN
Can I keep him?
PAM
As long as you take good care of him.
Randy opens his eyes wide and shouts that he is human, not a dog.
RANDY
You can't adopt me and take me home. I'm a human, not a dog.
Gwen and Pam only hear barking.
GWEN
Oh, someone can't wait to get home.
Gwen puts Randy in their car; Randy panics.
Eliza and Ace see what happened and run after Randy, shouting his name.
EXT – PAM'S HOUSE – NIGHT
Eliza and Ace follow Pam's car to her house.
Gwen puts Randy on a leash and drags him inside.
ACE
Great. How are we going to get in and save Randy?
ELIZA
Maybe we won't have to.
Eliza and Ace sneak to the house and look through the window.
They spot Gwen holding a mirror up to Randy; Randy sees his purple fur and is shocked.
RANDY
No. How did this happen?
Gwen hears barking and thinks Randy would like the ribbon she plans to put on him.
Gwen puts a ribbon on Randy and Eliza; Ace dislikes it.
Gwen shows Randy how he looks; Randy doesn't like it.
GWEN
You're so cute. Come on, it's time for dinner.
Randy follows Gwen and sees Eliza and Ace open the front door.
Randy sneaks out through the front door; Gwen chases after him.
ELIZA
We got company.
Randy looks ahead and sees a pickup truck.
RANDY
Jump.
Randy, Eliza, and Ace jump onto the pickup truck, which drives them away from Gwen.
INT/EXT – PICKUP TRUCK – NIGHT
Randy, Ace, and Eliza spend the night in the pickup truck after escaping Gwen.
Eliza and Ace laugh at Randy because his fur is purple and he has a pink ribbon in his hair.
Randy sits on the other side of the truck and uses his claws to cut the ribbon off his hair.
ACE
What's amateur? Didn't like the ribbon, pouchy?
Ace laughs and high-fives Eliza.
ELIZA
Ace, stop.
Eliza walks over to Randy and speaks to him.
ELIZA
Hey, we were just kidding about your new fur. It's nice.
RANDY
No, it's not my fur, it's my family, I miss them. I even miss my jerky cousins.
EXT – HILLSIDE – NIGHT
Randy starts to sing about his family and what they would do for him.
Eliza joins in, singing about her hard life in the pet shop.
Ace looks up at the biggest star and sings about his parents before meeting Randy and Eliza.
All three sing together as it gets dark; a driver hears them but cannot stop.
Randy sings the last verse, gazing at the full moon and being reminded of his family.
EXT – PICKUP TRUCK – NIGHT
Eliza and Ace fall asleep while Randy looks over the side and sees the werewolf pack saving people.
Randy misses his family but chooses to stay with Eliza and Ace to keep their deal.
INT – WOLF MANOR – NIGHT
The werewolf pack returns home and tells Anna there is no sign of Randy; they search the town.
After telling Anna the bad news, the pack goes to bed, hoping to find Randy the next day.
Anna goes to her husband's bedroom and looks at the framed picture of him.
ANNA
Oh, Rodney, I miss you so much. But if you were here and knew where our son could be, I'd beg you for an answer.
Mrs. Young enters and asks if Anna is missing her husband again.
MRS. YOUNG
Missing your husband again?
ANNA
He and my son.
MRS. YOUNG
Anna, I'm sure Randy's ok. He's Randy, a werewolf like you and your husband. He's smart and brave. Nothing will stop him from getting home.
Mrs. Young comforts Anna, and they start to believe in Randy.
ANNA
I still wish Randy were here.
Anna leaves Rodney's room and goes into Randy's room.
She sits on Randy's bed and sees the telescope he got for his birthday.
ANNA
Wait, maybe I can spot him with his telescope.
Anna looks through the telescope and spots Randy's muddy footprints, as well as two other sets of footprints.
She sees the footprints disappear by the road and decides to start her search there the next day.
INT – WOLF MANOR – NIGHT
When all the werewolves are asleep, Mrs. Young calls the police.
MRS. YOUNG
Randy is missing. He's in human form. Please keep a sharp eye out for him.
POLICE OFFICER
Yes, ma'am. We'll notify you if we see anything.
Mrs. Young hangs up and goes to bed.
Randy goes to bed with Ace and Eliza.
