Chapter 3 - Escape II

Nathaniel opened the cell door and peeked out, looking both sides to see if there was anyone there. He saw that the corridor was rather dark, only lit up by distant torches that were around 40 feet in both directions.

"Damn....." He said in a low whisper, "Where is the exit....?"

He remembered that both the Orc and the other man had turned to the left when leaving, so he assumed that if he went left, he would reach some stairs that led to the exit. He had to be careful, however, since the two were bound to return soon.

He slowly exited the cell and stuck to the wall, stepping slowly and quietly, making his way down the corridor as he reached the torch, which illuminated a doorway with some stairs that led up.

He gulped down and slowly stepped on the stone steps, "Okay...."

He walked up the stairs and made his way up to a wooden door which was slightly open. He peered through the crack in the doorway and saw that there was another corridor, this one was illuminated much brighter. He assumed that there were more torches or lamps on the other side of the door, the light hitting him in the face and causing him to flinch.

He slowly opened the door, trying not to make any noise. He stuck his head outside, seeing that the corridor was also clear. Without wasting any more time, he slowly slipped past the door and quickly made his way down this corridor, his body was low, trying to stay out of sight.

He came across an open door, from which he heard some noise, "Shit..." He muttered as he pressed his back to the wall, "What now?"

His voice was but a whisper, but despite that, he silently cursed himself for speaking. He didn't know if there was anyone in there or if they could hear him. His heart began to beat faster, and an expected sense of anxiety crept up on him.

"What's that sound?" a voice said, "Did someone leave the dungeon door open?"

"Beats me." another voice said

Judging from what the voices sounded like, they weren't the same ones that were in the cell with Nathaniel. He immediately gripped the bone that he had used to pick the shackles, getting ready to do something should it be necessary.

"Don't come...." He thought to himself

He then heard footsteps approach the door, "Borug and Hub probably left the door open...." the man's voice said, "Well, let me go and close it."

From the door, a tall and lanky man walked out, turning to Nathaniel almost immediately. He froze in surprise upon seeing him, and before he could say anything else, Nathaniel thrust the bone into his neck, piercing his skin and flesh.

"U-Ughh....." His voice was muffled by Nathaniel covering his mouth as blood squirted all over his hand

Nathaniel plunged the bone further into his neck, twisting it as the man's body collapsed against the wall, blood pouring into the stone floor. He had pulled him away from the doorway, preventing the other person from seeing what had happened.

"Hey, what's going on?" the other man said as Nathaniel pulled the bone out of his neck

The man walked out, a short and pot-bellied man without a shirt. He saw Nathaniel with the bloodied bone in his hand, frozen by the shock of his compatriot's dead body.

"What the fuck-" He managed before he was cut off by Nathaniel stabbing him in the throat

Nathaniel grunted as he pushed the man against the doorway, "Dammit...." He said as the man stared at him dead in the eye, blood pouring out of his throat, "Dammit....."

The man weakly clutched Nathaniel's arm as he looked at him, gasping for air. Nathaniel then swiped his hand outwards, cutting the man's throat up with the sharpened bone.

Blood sprayed everywhere as Nathaniel stepped back, nearly slipping on the pool of blood. He then looked around, seeing that nobody was in the corridor. His breathing was labored, and his entire body was shaking, completely disturbed by what he had just done.

But he didn't have time for this, and he knew that.

"Okay...." He composed his breathing as he looked down at the first man, "Let me..."

He dragged the tall one's body into the room, slumping it on the side, next to a wooden chest, as he straightened up. He saw that there were some folded clothes sitting on a chair in the corner, and without thinking, he walked over and grabbed some pants made out of linen.

He didn't think twice and put the pants on, feeling that they were quite baggy but fit him well enough. He also picked up a tattered shirt, which seemed to be too small for him, but he put it on anyway. He felt like any covering was better than none, considering that he was naked save for a loincloth.

He walked over to the other man's body and dragged it back inside, blood smearing the floor as he did so. He set the corpse against the wall, away from sight, and straightened up.

"Okay...." He said as he slid the bone between his pants, "Some....shoes...."

He pulled the sandals of the short one off his feet, putting them on his own feet.

"He won't be needing them..." He said as he walked towards the doorway, "What's that sound?"

He heard footsteps approaching, and as he felt a bit of panic, he closed the door and leaned against it, hearing more voices.

"Those two fucking or what?" the voice of Hub said

"Hehe..." Borug's voice said

Nathaniel held his breath, trying to think of a way to get out of this should they try to open the door. He heard the footsteps approach the dungeon door, which was around 20 feet from this room.

He looked to his side to see a wooden chair, an idea coming to him.

"If they enter the door, I can use the chair to bar the door." He thought to himself

"Hey." He heard the distant voice of Hub, "Was that blood on the floor?"

"They probably butchered a rat, pay no mind." Borug responded

"Hm....." Hub said

Nathaniel grabbed the chair and opened the door, peeking outside to see that Hub was the only one on the doorway, standing there as if contemplating what he had just seen.

Without a second thought, Nathaniel ran out of the room, charging right at Hub as the latter turned to see him, widening his eyes.

"What the-" He started

Nathaniel shoulder tackled him, sending him flying down the stairs. Hub hit Borug, who was walking down, causing the two of them to tumble downwards.

"What the fuck?!" Borug exclaimed

Nathaniel closed the door and stuck the door under the handle, making sure it was secured. He then turned around and began to run, knowing damn well that he was going to be chased now. But the two of them were going to find out that he was gone so he was going to be chased regardless.

"Fuck...." Nathaniel said as he ran,

"Have to get out of here!"
