Nathaniel burst through what he assumed was a boarded-up window, feeling his body crash through the wood. He felt as if he had hit something hard, his entire body flipping over and crashing down a sloped surface.
"Arghhh...!" He grunted in pain as he hit a rock hard, his entire vision spinning and blurry, "That wasn't a smart thing to do....!"
"The escaped prisoner just jumped out!!!" a voice bellowed, "Get him!!"
"What the hell is Hub and Borug doing?!" another voice said
Nathaniel stood up to see that he was on a dirt and stone slope, behind him was what he assumed the wing of the fort he was held captive in. He had hit against a rock that was jutting out of the ground, his entire body was throbbing in pain.
"Shit." He said as he looked down below, seeing that there was nothing but a rocky slope, "A mountain, huh?"
He immediately deduced that the fort was high in the mountain on which it was built, making escaping a bit longer than he had hoped. But there was no time to contemplate the time; he had to start running.
And that is what he did.
He ran downhill, nearly tripping several times as the breeze hit his face, "Where to go....." He said under his breath as he kept running down, "I have to get as far as possible from here."
He heard shouting in the distance and as he looked behind, he noticed several figures running downhill behind him. He had gotten a fair bit of distance between himself and the captors, around 100 meters, but the mountain was still not finished.
Nathan then tripped over a rock and fell down, rolling down and falling on a section of the hill that was leveled. His entire body throbbed in pain as he groaned loudly.
"Shit....." He managed as he got to his knees
Pain shot throughout his body, causing his body to shake as he got up. He looked up to see that his pursuers were closing in on him.
He had to think of something quite fast.
"I....." He said, "I have magic, right? Another spell...a skeleton....."
He focused, trying to will the spell, just like how he did with the Necrotic Pull.
"Summon Skeleton"
He felt a strange flow throughout his body, his magic power surging as he felt a tingle in his fingertips.
Below him, the ground shifted, and a skeletal hand burst through from underneath. He looked down to see a skeleton emerging from the ground, its eye sockets emitting a blue glow as it stood up, a clattering sound being heard from its mouth.
Nathaniel saw that it was holding a rusty iron dagger in its hand as it stood in front of him, a bit of blue steam emitting from its bones as it slouched forward, looking at Nathaniel. There was an odd feeling about it; it simply stared at Nathaniel as if it were awaiting orders.
"He's there!!!" a voice shouted, "Get him!!"
"Don't kill him!" another voice shouted, "We need his organs for the ritual!"
Nathaniel looked up to see a group of around six men running down, about 40 feet away from them.
"You're my buddy, huh?" He asked the skeleton, "Well....."
He pointed at the pursuers, who the Skeleton slowly turned to look at.
"A skeleton?!" one of the men said as he had a wooden club in his hand, "What the hell?!"
"Kill them!" Nathaniel ordered as the men reached his location
The Skeleton immediately lunged at the nearest one, swinging its dagger at his throat, catching him off guard. The blade cut through his skin and flesh, blood spraying everywhere as the man immediately collapsed and clutched his throat.
"Aaaghh!!!" He managed
The skeleton stabbed him in the back of the neck, finishing him off. It then pulled the knife out and the clattering sound got louder as it turned to see the others.
"Dammit!" one of the men said as he drew his axe, "The prisoner knows magic! He's a Necromancer!!"
"A Necromancer????" another said, "Around these parts? It's outlawed in Kraetopia!"
"Yea, well, he's using it!" the other scowled
The Skeleton lunged at the nearest man, swinging its knife at him, but the man was anticipating it, dodging out of the way and countering with his own swipe of his dagger. The blade hit the cranium of the Skeleton, causing it to jerk backwards, but it seemed rather unharmed. The Skeleton then kicked him in the stomach, causing him to reel and tried to stab him but again, the man was able to jump away.
As this happened, a man lunged at Nathaniel, shoving him to the ground, "Got ya!!"
As if he were expecting it, Nathaniel immediately rolled and wrapped his legs around the man's arm, placing him in an arm-bar. The man widened his eyes in shock, groaning in pain as Nathaniel immediately snapped his arm.
"AGHHHH!!!!" He bellowed
Nathaniel released him and rolled backwards, standing up to see another man rushing him. He drew the bone and swiped it at the man who had an axe. The man was taken aback and hesitated in his advance, seeing that it was a mere bone.
"What the...." He said with a scowl, "A bone? You think you can get me with a bone?!"
"Two down.....four left....." Nathaniel scanned his surroundings, seeing that the Skeleton was keeping the other three busy, "They're ordinary humans, I see. I was able to snap that one's arm quite easily. If I can disarm this one, I can take his axe and finish off the others....."
All of the remaining enemies were in his line of sight, which is something he wanted at all times. There was no way he would lose sight of any of them in a situation like this.
The man lunged at him, swinging his axe downwards, "Fuck you!!!"
Nathaniel pivoted and stabbed him in the forearm, the bone piercing through completely.
"Aghh!" the man shouted, dropping the axe
Nathaniel then followed up with three quick straight punches in the chest, causing him to reel back. He then struck him in the throat with a knife-hand with enough force to cause him to loose his breath. As the man dropped to his knee, Nathaniel grabbed his head and smashed his face with a vicious knee; the disturbing sound of something cracking was heard loud and clear.
Wasting no time, he grabbed the axe and rushed over to where the Skeleton was. He saw that the Skeleton was able to stab another man, causing him to collapse to his knee, as the Skeleton was choking another one with its free hand.
The last one smashed the skeleton's head with his wooden club, causing some pieces of its skull to fly out as the Skeleton stumbled back. It swiped its knife at the one he stabbed, cutting his face and collapsing him.
The one with the club struck the Skeleton again in the front of the skull, causing it to fall down and crumble.
"Shit...." Nathaniel said as the other two were composing themselves, "It's quite frail....but...."
He swung his axe down at the one that was being choked, the blade being driven down the top of his skull, blood spraying everywhere as his eyes widened. He collapsed to his knees as the last one swung his club at Nathaniel's head.
Nathaniel rolled out of the way and grabbed the rusty knife the Skeleton was wielding. He then stood up and pivoted to the right, avoiding another swing from the last one's club.
In a swift motion, he stabbed the man in the shoulder, attempting to disable his arm and preventing him from using his weapon.
"Shit!!!" the man shouted in pain
Nathaniel then got behind him, wrapping his arm around his neck, getting him in a rear-naked choke. The man immediately dropped the club and grasped his arms, gasping for air. Nathaniel kept the hold up as the man's body went limp as the man's body felt the weakest, he released the hold and pulled the knife out of his shoulder.
In a display of ruthlessness, he cut the man's throat as it was collapsing, blood pouring out of the wound.
Nathaniel was panting heavily as he stepped back, looking around to see that everyone was dead, leaving him the only one standing.
And these were the only ones that chased; more were back in the fort.
"Fuck...." He said, his body shaking with adrenaline
The System suddenly appeared in front of him, giving him a message:

Nathaniel narrowed his eyes, "An Aspect...." He said, "So.....this is like a video game. Choosing an Aspect is like choosing a Class Tree....."
His War Necromancy supposedly allowed him to summon the dead to fight for him in battle, but he was a bit confused on how it would differ from regular Necromancy. He assumed that it is the concept of War and the specifics of War differ throughout the Eras.
He had to choose something he was familiar with.
He clicked on the Modern Warfare Aspect.
