Chapter 13: Grilling up Monster [7]
"Ha..Ha!"
Then they started laughing as the echoed of the Tyrant Guild surged forward.
Shoosh~
Shoosh~
Next second they snatched up equipment that was in the ground with their greedy hands.
The black blind box that he was holding vanished and the next second it was in Kevin's grasp.
Adrian's eyes sharpened with his voice cut through the chaos, low and cold to refute Kevin's statement.
"Oh,someone seems to have forgotten how I killed him once already? And did I give you permission to touch my spoils?"
Kevin snorted. "Your Spoils? Don't make us laugh."
"We all know that you couldn't take down a level ten boss. You're just stealing the Great Master loot, who has killed these monsters and without that pathetic 200% buff, you'd be dead to a slime."
His guildmates chimed in, spitting contempt. "Trash get lost from here, you are not even level four and you can't survive one attack from us"
"Yeah , so get lost ,Scavenger."
"Hahahha"
But their voices faltered when Adrian shifted, his spear materializing in hand. His posture was relaxed, but his eyes were murder.
"You get one chance," Adrian said, tone like ice. "Drop what you stole, or I'll send every one of you on a one-way trip."
For a moment, silence. Adrian's memory still haunted them—the ruthless, precise killing that had ended Kevin's life before.
Yet Adrian's body betrayed him. Every skill icon is still gray. Every stat still halved.
Inside, he calculated. Seven minutes left. If he could stall them… then he could slaughter them.
His jaw tightened. Drag it out. Survive until the countdown ends.
Kevin hesitated, but pride tightened his face. Claire spoke sharply, "Kevin. Give him back the box."
Kevin's lips curled. "Not a chance. Once it's in my hands, it's mine."
He snapped the box open. A small yellow toy duck appeared in his palm.
Kevin blinked. "What the hell?"
As Kevin turned back and carefully observed this 'the little yellow duck 'over in his hands as it was frowning. Its materials are like a glossy plastic surface gleamed under the valley's dim light, ridiculous in contrast to the blood-stained ground.
"What is this supposed to be? A toy?"
The players around him leaned closer, their curiosity prickling. A couple muttered detection spells.
[Beast Attractor]
[Category: Special Too]l
[Effect: Squeeze once → attracts nearby monsters.]
[Effect: Squeeze twice → attracts nearby boss.]
Kevin's face brightened with sudden glee. "Hah! See? A monster-puller. I don't even need to grind anymore—just squeeze, and they come running!"
Laughter spread among his guildmates. They slapped Kevin's back, eyes glittering with envy. Even Claire Summer's gaze flicked toward the duck with reluctant interest.
However,Adrian's expression darkened as his heart sank like a stone.
He remembered this item all too well. Few ever learned its hidden trigger—but Adrian had lived a lifetime ahead of these fools.
Squeeze twice without a boss nearby… and it doesn't just call monsters. It drags something out of the shadows. Something that should not be here.
A hidden boss. Level fifteen. The kind of monster that would erase their entire party in seconds.
Adrian's jaw tightened. He still had nearly five minutes left on the curse. Skills locked. Attributes halved. If Kevin summoned that thing now, it wouldn't just mean their deaths. Adrian's single resurrection chance was already gone.
This time, he would vanish forever.
He cut the tense atmosphere ,from which he spoke flatly.
"Kevin, don't do anything silly, that toy isn't a harmless item but if you squeeze it twice without not knowing the outcome, if it is a boss level higher than your or if it summons something worse."
"Something you, me or others can't handle."
" You are gambling our lives because of your stupidity and lack of knowledge."
The laughter faltered for a moment. A few of the Tyrant Guild glanced uneasily at Adrian, recalling the precision with which he had killed before.
But Kevin only sneered. "Oh, please. You expect me to believe you know the secrets of a blind box drop? You're just jealous."
"I'm warning you again ," Adrian said, eyes cold as steel. "If you value your life and your subordinate, then put that item away."
But Kevin didn't listen to Adrian warring but he had smirk expressions but as a genius player who awakened a powerful talent his pride didn't let him think of Adrian Warring also at that time Adrian's tone only fanned the flames of his arrogance.
The without wasting any time he raised the item above and used his both had to gripping it
—and squeezed.
"Gaaaal…gulp…gulp…gulp…"
The duck's screech was shrill, grating, absurdly comical. It echoed through the valley like the jeer of some deranged specter.
Kevin squeezed again.
"GAAL…GULP…GULP…GULP!!!"
As the duck's second scream rose higher and the item sound changed to warbling and manic glee. This creepy sounded less like a toy and more like a mockery laugher or a calling voice to someone.
With the voice of this creepy sound of a beast the laughter of Kevin's guildmates withered into silence. A heavy stillness fell over the valley.
The air thickened. The ground vibrated.
From the mouth of the valley, ten meters away, the earth split apart. A hulking shadow pushed through.
Adrian's let out a ….sigh~
This bear-like figure…..no more accurately, this monster appears in the shape of a bear. Its huge body was over five meters long and his fur gleaming gold and his eyes glowed red as a warring light for them.
His jagged claws, nails were longer like a middle as sharp as a sword.
As he appeared this monster scraped the stone like cutting butter and Its eyes burned red in rage, filled with mindless hunger.
The bear-like monster raised its head, looked around and suddenly roared as if he wanted to tell us that he had accepted the challenge.
The trees and the stones as well as the players around him pushed back by the pressure of this monster roar as well as the valley shook with the sound, a thunder of pure fury appeared in the sky. Birds flew away from nearby trees in panicked flocks and stones dislodged and rolled down the cliffs.
Kevin is also pushed back by this monster roar , his face draining of color. His guildmates around him cursed, fumbling to ready weapons to fight with this monster if it is necessary.
Claire Summer's eyes widened, horror stark on her face.
Only Adrian remained still. His grip tightened on his spear. The curse's timer ticked down in his vision—
[Curse Remaining: 9 minutes, 37 seconds]
His mind worked coldly, calculating. If I move now, I die. If I wait… maybe, just maybe, I can turn this bear into my weapon.
Kevin's voice cracked, shrill with terror. "What the hell did you—what is that thing?!"
Adrian's lips curved into a humorless smile hiding his fear for the worst situation.
" See that… is the price you have to pay for your arrogance."
Thum~
Thum~
As the bear stepped forward the land vibrated , he released his claws gouging deep trenches into the earth. With each of our breath this huge monster stepped forward, its maw opened wider, exhaling heat and the stench of blood.
Everyone gulped their mouths in fear , as moments ago they were laughing and mockering but now they have invited their death.
The golden Terror-Claw Bear had arrived.
And not one of them , not even Adrian could leave unscathed
