Chapter 2 - Child vs the old man

The old man grunted, his eyes locked on Kai's like trembling prey before a predator.

"Why are you still trying to fight?" Kai asked, raising a finger. "It's pointless."

A faint blue aura pulsed from his fingertip.

The man's eyes widened. That's his mana all right. But still.." His grip tightened on his weapon, sweat sliding down his hand. "How can a boy ever control mana to such an exten-"

"Pathetic," Kai muttered.

The man gets cut off in an instant. And in that instant a small ball of mana pierced through man's dull chest. His body collapsed with a dull thud and Kai only sighed as he walks to the dead man. He sniffs.

"That smell of blood that I smelt before" Kai mutters.

He sniffed the air again as he approached the man. "And his mana to.." he thought, crouching to grab the man's arm.

"Well its clear now. This scent it isn't human. Not fully, anyway." He let the arm drop and sniffed again. Once. Twice. And a thrid time.

Kai's eyes looked above. The. To the corspe.

"So, that was a clone. Whilst.." His eyes flicked to the ceiling again. "The real is hiding and up there"

Kai vanished.

"Simple as that".

He reappeared behind the man crouched on the rooftop, patting his head almost mockingly. The man froze, trembling.

"B-but… how did you know I was here?" he stammered.

Kai rolled his eyes. "You really don't know much about me, do you?" He tapped his nose.

"Your scent. Your mana. That's all I needed".
