Chapter 22 - This “Friend” You Mention… Isn’t That Just You? (1/5)

Chen Yang activated his God-Hidden Aura (God-tier Aura) and rode the wind forward at tenfold speed.

Technically, flying was forbidden on Zhongnan City's streets and in public spaces.

But…

with invisibility on, nobody could see him anyway.

In other words—

he could pretty much do whatever he wanted up in the sky!

And it felt amazing.

Looking down at the streets, the neighborhoods, the bustling malls and shops full of people coming and going, Chen Yang couldn't help but sigh.

He had crossed into this world eighteen years ago.

At long last, he finally felt like he could live as a proper person.

Hongwu Market.

This was the closest equipment/skill book trading market to his apartment.

It specialized in buying and selling all sorts of items for Job Changerrs and Job Changer professionals—

different from ordinary shopping centers.

Most people who came here had decent talents, usually combat-type Job Changerrs.

Chen Yang landed in a quiet, camera-free alley nearby.

He slipped out of invisibility unnoticed, then made his way toward the entrance.

From a distance, he could already see the lively stalls outside Hongwu Market:

"Level-25 Gold-quality warrior shield! High defense, high block! Only 98,000, direct trade—no middleman fee!"

"Selling handcrafted silver-scale breastplates! Forged by a beautiful lady blacksmith, just 5,000 each, free delivery!"

"Buying mage skill books! Gold-grade or above—prices guaranteed to satisfy!"

"Selling ladies' personal [Golden Spiked Club], Level-20 Platinum gear! Great feel, wide range, high attack speed! Price negotiable, won't bring it home if unsold!"

Chen Yang had passed by here before.

But he hadn't realized the equipment trade had become this competitive.

"Ladies' personal use?" Really?

Out of curiosity, he glanced at the stall—

only to see a burly, bearded man hawking the so-called "personal gear."

Chen Yang shook his head.

He squeezed through the crowd and headed straight into the market building.

After all, the sheer amount of equipment and skill books he wanted to sell was far beyond what these small-time stall owners could handle.

But just as he stepped through the main doors—

A clear, pleasant female voice called out behind him:

"Huh? Chen Yang?"

Chen Yang turned around.

It was a beautiful woman in casual clothes, her long black hair falling smoothly over her chest, a pair of black-framed glasses on her nose.

His homeroom teacher—Liu Yueyao.

She looked surprised, then smiled as she walked up.

"What a coincidence. I saw you leave right after the Job Changer ceremony. Here to buy equipment now? Preparing to grind levels?"

To be fair, this teacher wasn't very old herself.

Just twenty-one or twenty-two.

Her class was Elemental Swordsman, already over level 60.

Back in her student days, she'd been a famed campus beauty as well as a talent.

On weekdays, she'd always looked after Chen Yang quite a bit.

Of course—

Chen Yang wasn't sure if it was because he was good-looking,

or because of his "Friend of Maidens" physique.

"Uh…"

Seeing a familiar face, Chen Yang was a bit surprised.

After a moment's thought, he replied:

"I came to sell some equipment… A friend of mine didn't have time, so he asked me to do it for him."

"A friend of yours?"

Liu Yueyao, naturally quick-witted, couldn't help but wonder—

Was this so-called "friend" just Chen Yang himself?

She almost wanted to tease him outright, but…

their relationship wasn't close enough for such jokes.

So she left it unsaid.

"If you're selling, I actually know the owner here. Want me to introduce you? We can go upstairs to Uncle Hong together."

"That works."

Chen Yang nodded after a brief thought.

He was carrying way too much loot.

Selling it all at once, he'd been worried about getting ripped off.

With someone to vouch for him, this would be perfect.

And so, Liu Yueyao led the way, walking beside him toward the upper floors.

As they went, she asked about his Job Changer —

whether he needed help, if he'd found a party, and so on.

To avoid trouble, Chen Yang just said he already had a team,

and that things were going pretty smoothly.

"Good. That puts my mind at ease."

Liu Yueyao smiled softly, clearly relieved.

After all—

Summoners like Chen Yang had huge upkeep costs.

Without a good team, his growth would've been painfully slow.

Soon, they reached the fifth floor—

an area off-limits to casual visitors.

Walking alongside her, Chen Yang caught the faint fragrance she carried, and felt a strange sense of contrast.

Back at school, this beautiful teacher had always been the goddess in the eyes of the students.

But now…

After seeing the ethereal beauty of elves and the sultry allure of succubus,

Liu Yueyao didn't seem quite as dazzling as before.

Of course, she had a different kind of beauty—

a cultured, intellectual grace that otherworldly girls lacked.

Not really comparable.

They stopped before an office door.

Liu Yueyao knocked.

"Uncle Hong, I'm here."

A booming voice replied:

"Oh? Miss, you finally made it. That set of fire-resist gear you asked for—I've gathered the whole set. Planning to raid that dungeon tonight?"

The door opened to reveal a burly middle-aged man, nearly two meters tall.

He greeted Liu Yueyao with clear respect.

But then—

his eyes shifted to Chen Yang.

Back to Liu Yueyao.

His thick brows rose in surprise.

"Miss, this handsome young fellow—he's not your new boyfriend, is he?"

"???"

Chen Yang froze.

Of all things, he hadn't expected the Boss of Hongwu Market to be a towering brute of a man.

And even more baffling—

the guy immediately jumped to conclusions about his relationship with Liu Yueyao?

This guy…

wasn't quite normal!
