"Make sure you wear something warm. It's cold outside."
"Mom, relax. I'll be fine."
"All right. Take care."
"Goodbye," Lucian said before leaving.
Meanwhile, Selena was reluctant to leave.
"I'm going to miss you," Mia said.
"Me too," Selena replied.
"So, when are you coming back?" Mia asked.
"I don't know. But when I get there, I'll let you know."
They hugged.
"Take care of yourself," Selena told her.
"You too."
Just then, Lucian's car arrived. This time, he wasn't driving. Selena got into the back seat while the driver helped her with her luggage.
Lucian was already on his laptop, working.
Soon, they arrived at the airport, where Lucian's private plane was waiting.
They got on the plane, and the staff helped them with their luggage.
Selena sat beside Lucian while he continued working on his laptop. She could tell he was really busy.
Soon, the plane took off.
A staff member came over and served them some snacks. Selena had nothing else to do, so she started eating.
When Lucian finally finished his work, he turned to look at her. He noticed a small piece of cake at the corner of her mouth.
Without saying anything, he reached over and gently wiped it away.
Selena froze. She wasn't expecting him to do that.
Lucian noticed her reaction.
"You don't have to be shy around me. I'm your boyfriend..." He paused and smiled. "Well, not for long. You should get used to my touch."
Selena's face instantly turned red.
Lucian noticed and chuckled.
Selena didn't know what to say, so she continued eating her cake.
Lucian just smiled and picked up a file. He started reading it.
Selena became curious about what he was working on.
"What is that?" she asked.
"It's nothing. Don't worry about it," Lucian replied without looking at her.
The flight took about five hours before they finally landed. From the airport, they drove straight to the hotel.
The bodyguards who were waiting for Lucian helped them with their luggage.
When the receptionist handed Lucian the room key, Selena frowned.
"Wait, where am I going to stay?" she asked, confused.
Lucian turned to her.
"You're staying with me, of course."
Selena's eyes widened.
"Stay with you?"
Lucian didn't answer. He simply led her toward the elevator.
Selena's heart started beating faster. Were they really going to share the same room?
She quickly pushed the thought away.
When they got to the room, the bodyguards brought their luggage inside before leaving.
Lucian went into the bathroom to take a shower, leaving Selena sitting stiffly on the edge of the bed.
Her heart was still racing. The room suddenly felt smaller with every passing second.
When Lucian came out of the bathroom, he saw Selena sitting on the balcony.
He walked over to her.
"Relax. I'm not going to do anything to you. Not now, and definitely not on a business trip. Okay?"
Selena let out a sigh of relief.
"Okay," she said with a small smile. "I'll go take my bath now."
She was about to leave when Lucian called her back.
"There's a gathering this evening, so get ready."
A few minutes later, someone knocked on the door and delivered Selena's clothes. Lucian had asked them to prepare everything she needed.
Selena took the clothes and placed them on the bed while Lucian went to the balcony to answer a call.
After Selena came out of the bathroom, she dried her hair and noticed the gown on the bed.
She picked it up and looked at it.
"It's for you," Lucian said as he walked into the room.
"Go change into it."
Selena nodded and went into the dressing room to change.
When she came out, Lucian looked at her for a moment.
"The dress fits you perfectly," he said.
Just then, someone knocked on the door.
Selena opened it and saw a group of makeup artists standing outside.
She turned to Lucian in surprise.
"You shouldn't have."
Lucian didn't respond. He simply told the makeup artists to begin.
When they were done, Selena looked at herself and smiled.
Lucian was also dressed up, looking handsome as always.
When they came out of the hotel, Selena was surprised by the number of cars waiting outside and all the bodyguards surrounding them.
As they got into the car, Lucian noticed that Selena had been quiet.
"You've been quiet since we left. Are you nervous?" he asked.
His voice brought her out of her thoughts.
She blinked and turned toward him.
"What?"
"What's wrong?" he asked again.
"Oh, no. I'm fine. I'm just not used to all this."
"Not used to what?"
"Being around so many people... and being with you like this," she admitted with a shy smile.
Lucian's lips curved into a small smile.
"I think you still have a lot to learn."
He looked at her.
"But for now, relax."
Selena looked at him, confused, but Lucian didn't explain.
When they arrived at the gathering, Selena was surprised by how big it was. There were so many people, and paparazzi were everywhere outside.
As soon as Lucian stepped out of the car, the paparazzi surrounded him, trying to ask him questions.
Lucian ignored them and walked inside with Selena.
Someone came over and showed them to their seats at the high table.
Selena followed behind Lucian, still looking around.
A few minutes later, someone approached Lucian and whispered something to him.
Lucian nodded and turned to Selena.
"I'll be back."
He followed the person into a private room.
Selena was left sitting by herself at the table.
Just then, an old lady approached her.
Selena stood up and greeted her politely.
"Good evening, ma'am."
The old lady looked at her for a moment.
"Who did you come here with?" she asked.
Selena looked at her, confused by the question. She didn't know what to say.
"Who brought you here?" the old lady asked again.
"I came with Mr. Lucian," Selena replied.
"Oh, I see. Are you his new assistant?" the old lady asked.
"Yes, ma'am," Selena replied.
