Chapter 14 - chapter 14 _ six hundred million dollars

"I'm going to the company," Lucian told her.

"Am I not coming?" Selena asked.

"No," he replied while fixing his tie.

"Then why am I here?" she asked.

Lucian looked at her.

"So, you don't want to be around me?" he asked.

"That's not what I meant. It's just that I won't be doing anything," she said softly.

Lucian walked toward her.

"I brought you here so we could spend some time together. Very soon, we'll be living under the same roof, so I want you to get used to being around me. Okay?"

"fine," Selena replied flatly.

Lucian simply smiled at her cute reaction, he then picked up his bag, and left.

Selena went to take a bath. Afterward, she decided to call Mia.

"Hello?"

Mia's energetic voice came through the phone.

"What's up?" Selena asked in a low voice.

"What's wrong?" Mia's voice immediately became serious.

"Mia, it's so boring here. Lucian won't even let me help with anything, and now I'm all by myself in this huge room," Selena complained.

"Wait a minute. Selena, are you and Lucian staying in the same room?" Mia asked.

Selena was surprised that Mia knew. Then she remembered what she had told her before.

She already knew Mia was going to tease her about it.

"Yes," Selena admitted.

"Ahhh!"

Mia's excited scream made Selena pull the phone away from her ear.

"Mia, can you please stop shouting?" Selena complained.

"Okay, fine. But you have to tell me everything. Don't leave out a single detail," Mia insisted.

"No," Selena refused.

"Please, Selena! You have to tell me, or I won't be able to sleep," Mia pleaded.

Selena laughed.

"Are you being serious?"

"Yes! So you have to tell me now," Mia urged.

"All right, all right. I'm telling you."

Selena explained everything that had happened.

When she finished, Mia sounded disappointed.

"So... nothing happened?"

Selena was surprised by her question.

"Mia, are you serious? Why would I want anything like that to happen when I'm not even sure if he likes me?"

"Okay, okay! I'm sorry," Mia quickly apologized.

"But you two are already dating. It's only a matter of time," Mia teased.

"No. I'm not doing anything until I'm sure he genuinely likes me," Selena said firmly.

"You're too strict," Mia said, pretending to be annoyed.

"Whatever. I'm not talking to you anymore."

"Wait, wait! I'm sorry," Mia quickly said.

Selena laughed.

"Anyway, when are you coming back? I already miss you."

"Me too. But I think it's going to take a couple of days," Selena said.

"Okay," Mia replied.

They talked for a while before ending the call.

Afterward, Mia started scrolling through social media until she eventually fell asleep.

When Lucian arrived at the company, he headed straight to the conference room. Everyone was already seated when he entered.

He walked to his seat and sat down. The financial manager immediately brought a document and placed it in front of him.

Lucian opened it and glanced through the pages.

"How much has been withdrawn so far?" he asked calmly.

The financial manager looked at him.

"About six hundred million dollars, sir."

Lucian's expression hardened.

"And how long has this been going on?"

"For almost a year."

Lucian closed the document and looked around the table.

"And nobody thought to stop it?"

No one answered.

He leaned back in his chair.

"My uncle has been taking money from this company for months, and you all allowed it to continue. I want to know why."

The rest of them remained quiet.

The financial manager finally spoke.

"Sir, your uncle is a major shareholder. We didn't think we had the authority to question his withdrawals."

Lucian gave a cold smile.

"Being my uncle doesn't give him the right to take company money."

He picked up the document again.

"From now on, no money leaves this company without my approval."

"Okay, sir," the financial manager replied.

"Where is my uncle? I clearly instructed someone to inform him about this meeting."

The financial manager looked at him.

"He said he was busy and didn't have time to attend, sir."

Lucian's expression hardened slightly.

"I see."

One of the shareholders spoke.

"Are we still going on with the collaboration with the Aurevane Group?"

"Yes," Lucian replied.

They all let out a sigh of relief, knowing that the deal was still on.

He glanced down at the document again, then continued with the meeting.

When Lucian came back from the company, he saw Selena sleeping.

He walked toward the bed and gently brushed her hair away from her face.

Selena felt someone touching her face, so she slowly opened her eyes and saw Lucian.

She thought she was dreaming, so she closed her eyes and opened them again.

Lucian was still standing there.

He laughed softly.

"You're back," Selena said sleepily.

She quickly came to her senses and sat up.

Lucian didn't reply. Instead, he went to change his clothes.

When he came back, Selena looked at him.

"So, how did it go?" she asked.

"It went well," he replied.

"Um... do you need my help with anything?"

Lucian looked at her.

"I told you not to worry about anything, didn't I?"

"But I can't just stay here and do nothing," Selena said.

Lucian sighed.

"Fine. Do you want to go somewhere? I'll take you."

Selena's eyes brightened.

"Really?"

"Yes. Go get ready."

Selena quickly got out of bed and went to change.

A few minutes later, she came out wearing a skirt and a top.

"Let's go," Lucian said.

When they got outside, Lucian instructed the bodyguards not to follow them.

Once they got into the car, Lucian looked at Selena.

"Where do you want to go?"

"Um... can we go to the beach?" she asked.

"The beach?" Lucian repeated.

"Yes."

"All right."

Selena smiled, but a few seconds later, her expression changed.

"What's wrong?" Lucian asked.

"I just remembered that I don't have anything to wear to the beach."

"Don't worry. We'll find somewhere to get you something along the way."

"Thank you," Selena said happily.

They stopped at two different shops before finally finding one.

When the clothes were brought out, Lucian looked at the piece of clothing Selena had chosen.

His expression changed.

"You're wearing that?" he asked.

Selena nodded.
